“Barbara was polite, thoughtful, and kind. She texted to let us know how he was doing about halfway through the appointment, and she shared a cute picture. I would definitely book with her again and certainly recommend her!”

“Erin took great care of my dog Rosie! Erin has watched my dog at her home and done a check in at my house. Both visits went perfectly. Rosie gets super excited when she sees Erin and I love the photos she sends. I would highly recommend Erin!”

“We are new with Renee, Kuro has been consistently going in for day care for the past 3 weeks and I must say he has a blast. He is happy to go there, gets to play with other pups. Renee is patient and very attentive. She accommodates requests and also goes that extra mile to care for our pup. Thank you Renee.”

“Heidi and her family were very accommodating. They made us feel safe, leaving our dogs with them. This is my first time using Rover with my golden retriever because I am very particular on who watches her. I would highly recommend Heidi and her family to my friends. Thank you Heidi!!”

“Absolutely the best, and works with my dysfunctional schedule… my dog comes home happy and tired from playing all day. I couldn’t work comfortably without her. 1000/10 recommend doggy day care with her!”

About: For years, I've walked the fields and trails along the Potomac River with a furry companion - most recently with Flannery, my family's Great Pyrenees who loved romping in Virginia Bluebell flowers and sinking her paws into mud. Animals have always been a part of my life. I've mucked stalls, herded ewes and lambs, evaded headbutting rams, cuddled pigs, milked goats, trimmed hooves, and named a farm dynasty of cats and kittens names like "Nefertiti" and "Isosceles" (after Egyptian royalty and geometry terms). Animals and their personalities are a source of endless interest for me. “If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans.” ~James Herriot I have a flexible work schedule at home and welcome an excuse to enjoy fresh air and exercise together with your pet. I'm available for daycare and dog-walking every day except for Sunday mornings. Your dog can stay indoor in my apartment or outdoor in the fenced-in yard, as needed. I live in a quiet neighborhood, perfect for walking. If additional space is needed for running and walking in the open countryside, I am also happy to take your dog on a "field trip" to my family's little farm.
“Ellen is great! She has a big heart and is an animal person through and through. We started out with a few boarding visits and now go to Ellen for day care every week. She’s very easy to work with and has a great location for dogs to run around/play/hike. Thanks Ellen!”

“Wonderful sitter! You can tell she really cares about her campers. We have our baby scheduled with her for a long weekend and I fully trust her to provide excellent care. My little baby is my pride and joy :)”

“My dog had a fabulous time with Kim! She was warm and friendly from the start, and her beautiful house and backyard made my dog feel comfortable and right at home. She even took him to the park, which he loved! Kim was communicative, trustworthy, and wonderful to work with. I highly recommend her!”

“Tess made drop off very easy. She was very kind and loving towards Pepita. She was very responsive and understanding when I was running late. Her and her wife were very welcoming and I will 100% book with Tess again if I am ever in the area!”

“Abby and her husband were great hosts! Awesome communication and everything was made easy and smooth for a last minute request. Their dogs Maple Syrup and Moose were such good puppy hosts and played well with our dog. We received plentiful videos and pictures of the fun!”

“Taking on a totally unknown dog from a cross-country road trip, IS a risk. We knew our senior dog Ginger would likely be stressed: 1st from the trip, and 2nd to be left with a stranger, in an unfamiliar environment. Linda really seems to love the dogs, she had 1-2 fosters there when we arrived (not sure, as I think I only saw 1). While I'm sure it was hard on both of them, we do sincerely appreciate her taking on our dog for a few hours, so that we could attend the wedding of an old family friend. If you read this Linda, I am interested in that food you had there for your fosters. Please shoot me a message, I may look at ordering it to try next time. Thanks again!”

“Absolutely wonderful! Sandra quickly responded and was able to welcome Handsome in her home in with only a day notice. When we got home, Handsome came in and slept the evening away, thanks to Sandra and her little guy playing and running with him. ❤️”

Barbara is absolutely wonderful! She treats my dog as if he were her own, and I can’t thank her enough for the love and care she gives him. She’s been incredibly flexible with my hectic schedule - whether I’ve run late at work or miscalculated sitting times, she’s always been so understanding. On top of that, she’s even gone above and beyond by feeding him when I forgot to pack his food, making sure he’s happy and well taken care of. Her own dog, Dobby, is the sweetest - he’s a superb playmate for Kato and such a good role model for him. It makes me so happy to know Kato not only gets great care but also has a buddy to play and learn from. It’s such a relief knowing my pup is in her hands - I trust her completely. I would highly recommend Barbara to anyone looking for a sitter who is reliable, caring, and truly treats your pet like family!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Mountain Mission commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in WV ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 1,020 sitters in Mountain Mission, 88% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
