About: I have owned and taken care of a variety of pets from a young age. I feel comfortable around all types of animals and I understand how to interact with them. I am currently working full time with weekends off. My current work schedule is from 7-3 so I would be available for late afternoon and evening check-ins on week days. I am available on the weekends for any time of day. I will be home full time between June and August and available all day. I have a fenced in yard with lots of space for running and playing. I have two lovable Boston Terriers and two well behaved and socialized cats. We allow all of our animals on the furniture and lots of cuddle time. Our animals have access to water all day and we can feed them according to your schedule or leave food out.
“Sherry took our menagerie of dogs and cats in stride when she arrived and she handled my dog Duncan with ease during the walk. She obviously loves animals and my dog, who is sometimes shy with strangers, immediately liked her and will be happy to see her the next time she comes. I highly recommend her if you need a good caretaker for your pets.”

“I used Kim for the 5 months I was in Virginia as a traveler. She was absolutely amazing! My boys just fell in love with her. If I’m ever that way again, I will definitely be booking her!”
About: Looking for a trustworthy dog sitter? You've come to the right place! As a Critical Care Veterinary Technician, caring for animals is more than my career, it's one of my favorite passions. Your pet's safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. Whether your pup is energetic and loves to play, prefers a quiet place to relax, or has special medical needs, I'll provide personalized care tailored to them. I know how important it is to leave your furry family member with someone you can trust. That's why I'll treat your dog like one of my own, with plenty of love, attention, exercise, and cuddles while you're away. My goal is to make every stay as comfortable and stress free as possible, so you can enjoy your time away with complete peace of mind. I look forward to meeting you and your four legged best friend and becoming their home away from home! Rover is currently a fun side hustle, it helps keep me from buying more animals at the moment! I am available for meet and greets around your schedule. I currently do work full time as a critical care veterinarian technician at an emergency vet hospital 3 days a week. I was a large animal veterinarian assistant prior to transitioning to small animals! I grew up on a working ranch, so I can assure you your animals will be in great care! I try my best to be accommodating to last minute bookings and I can always adjust my prices to your needs! Daily updates are absolutely always included, I will always send pictures. I keep my phone on ring at all times so you can rely on me for a prompt answer. I take safety very seriously and will always accommodate to your pets needs.
About: I have taken care of sick elderly dog. Friends and family rely on me to take care of their dogs or cats or other pets. I have had experience with farm animals. I have taken care of my pet rabbit everyday. I’m open to cats or dogs or any other types of pets, even snakes, I actually love snakes. They’re so cute. I’m a freshman in college, and I am taking a path to becoming a veterinarian. Currently I will not be available, but for me school ends on May 10, so after that I will be home for summer and be available 24/7. We only have a pet bunny, so we built her a hutch that has little side doors and a top that opens up and you can reach her. She has a little house inside the hutch where she can sit inside when it’s cold outside, it’s filled with straw.
“I was nervous having someone come into my home and take my pup on walks while I’m at work but Megan has been so great! My dog Dixie loves her! Thank you Megan for what you do! 😁”

About: I am a husky lover and owner who has spent most of my life taking care of dogs! I am 30 years old and have grown up taking care of beagles as well as pet sitting for family members and neighbors. Now, I currently have two huskies, ages 3 and 1. I enjoy long walks with my pups and lots of play time! On the weekends, I enjoy taking my dogs on long hikes, taking them to the dog park for some play time and even runs on the beach. My huskies are friendly with dogs their size and love making new friends. They also have spent time around cats and although they avoid playing, they do love other furry friends. My energetic attitude and love for animals makes me the best match for the job.

About: I am a Licensed Veterinary Technician available for weekend drop in visits or walks for those long day trips. Also available for cat visits as well most days. Able to administer injectable and oral medications, and lightly groom depending on pet's temperament. I've been working in the veterinary field for 12 years and have been licensed for the last 4. I have two rowdy dogs of my own so I am comfortable with larger active breeds. I have worked specifically with cats the last 10 years and love them as well as understand the shier animals that need calm, gentle handling to warm up. I have two young sons so if you are comfortable with your young puppy getting good socialization, I would be happy to bring them along. Please consider me for your cat sitting or weekend puppy walks and play time!

About: I have been taking care of animals since I was 10. I would help family and neighbors and then grew to not just a job it has came to something I love and thrive to do. I am now 33 years old and I strive to help others with their fur babies so they are never alone and taken care of. I own my own farm so my pet care starts at 6am to when I go to bed. I have some much time through the day I I want to help others with their pets/animals. I do not watch others animals in my home only due to our farm animals. But I am happy to go to my clients home to feed, water, give basic care and play with clients pets.
About: I’ve taken care of dogs of every shape and size since I was born. I was an infant cuddling with our massive doberman! My friends, family, and neighbors always knew they had a reliable pet sitter as long as I was around. I also ran on Harrisonburg Rescue Squad as an EMT for about 2 years, which has taught me excellent hard and soft skills in the case of an emergency. I’m working part time right now, so I’m able to spend as much time as needed with your lovely pooches (or other animals)! I mostly work nights on the weekends, but am able to adapt my schedule, if needed. :) I absolutely respect a given owner’s rules for their pets. In my own home, we raised our pit bull to listen and be intentional, and he is an amazing boy. In my client’s homes, I will treat their animals with the utmost respect, while enforcing the necessary house rules. I can promise you that I will treat your pet(s) like my own and give them the love they deserve!
“Paige was super caring and interacted so genuinely with my pup! She sent fun photos and it was so nice knowing my dog had her there while I was at work. Beyond happy to have found her!”

What you can expect • Complete peace of mind: I completely understand the stress of leaving a family member behind. I am committed to providing exceptional care and regular updates about your fur-baby while you're away. • Meticulous care and attention to detail: Your pet's well-being is my top priority. I pay close attention to their health and behavior, noticing small changes that might signal an issue. This includes being vigilant on walks and handling any special diets. • Routine and consistency: I meticulously follow your pet's normal routine, from feeding and medication schedules to exercise and play habits. House rules, like keeping pets off the furniture, are respected because consistency is key to reducing your pet’s stress. Pet sitting isn't a side gig for me—when I am taking care of your baby, that is my sole focus. I have a flexible schedule so I am able to ensure your pet's routine is maintained and I can accommodate last-minute requests. When caring for a pet, I treat them like family, giving them full attention and making sure they feel loved, safe, and happy until you returns. You can relax knowing your fur-baby is in loving, capable hands. I have established a safe environment by pet-proofing our home by securing toxic substances and small, dangerous items. I will ensure dogs are on a leash when outside. I am always prepared to adjust activities based on weather conditions to protect the pet from heat, cold, or storms.
About: I’ve had dogs my entire life, and got into dog training 2 years ago. I assisted a dog training company with the dogs they would board and care for, and assisted with multiple training outings. I also raised and trained my own service animal. I’m currently working part time, and will focus solely on providing care for your pet and home. They are my number one priority and love to do things with them. I will take them on long walks and do training with them to get their brain going. I’ll make sure their meals are extra tasty and made with love.
About: Everyone calls me when they need a reliable and dedicated pair of hands to watch over their children. Yes, I treat every dog like a furry child. I've helped raise dogs from 6 weeks to 16 years old. The young and the old need a little more attention and I'm happy to help. Those terrible 2's just need extra attention, and I'm happy to provide that too! I love all animals and will probably treat the kids like royalty. I prefer the company of dogs than my friends, they could vouch for that! I'm both loving and also stern because I've raised both labs and pitties. They require different types of parenting techniques, and I am equipped to handle anything. I work full time, Monday through Friday, 9 to 5. I'm happy to use my work breaks to check on animals for those who need the extra attention. My availability will be based around my work and my 2 kiddos at home. I can adjust weekly routines to incorporate pickup/drop offs, stop in visits, after work walks, or overnight stays. I treat dogs like they are our kids. I talk to them, I cuddle with them, and I use positive reinforcement to train good habits. I've helped raise a dozen dogs and each dog likes to show you how they like to be treated. I learned this lesson the hard way when I was raising dogs and had to learn different techniques to train each of them individually. Labs learn and function much different than bulldogs and pitbulls. I treat each dog the same regardless of size or attitude. Though I may give them some attitude when mouth off, like I do with my pitty at home (lol). I'm a safety first kind of person when it comes to our kids. So I tend to lean on the side of caution and extra equipment when interacting with most dogs. I always keep extra dogs supplies in my truck at all times as I have been known to that guy who stops traffic to try to rescue a dog. I've done this probably 6 or 7 times.
“Katie is AMAZING! She’s walks my puppy during the day so he can get some energy out and get some exercise while I’m at a work and let me just say he looks SO SO SOOOO happy in all of the pictures she sends! I love how she sends me picture of him through out the walk and a report of how the walk went! I 100% recommend Katie for any of your needs!”

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
