We had Lucas sit our 4 y/o mix retriever in our house who is energetic but timid & very attached to us. He did an excellent job looking after her by making sure she had appropriate interaction time, play time, feedings, etc. He also gave her the space to deal with us being gone. All-in-all when we returned she was more relaxed and that was due to how well Lucas took care of her and her not having to leave her home for care. We feel Lucas was a fantastic sitter and will continue to book with him for our dog sitting needs. Craig & Sue

Morgan watched our 3 pups in our home for a week. She is awesome. The pups love her and she made it possible to have a very relaxing vacation knowing the puppies were safe and happy at home. She is great at communicating and it’s always there when she said she would be. She sent lots of pictures of the pups and we look forward to having her watch the pups the next time we go out of town.

About: 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐌𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐲 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 Hi, I'm Kiley! I am a former communications officer with the Fredericksburg Police Department who turned a lifelong passion into opening my own home bakery, The Giving Treat. My entire pet care focus is dedicated to providing premium, attentive care exactly where your pets are most comfortable: right in their own home. Whether it's an energetic neighborhood walk, a midday drop-in, or overnight house sitting, I bring a high level of professionalism, reliability, and detail-oriented care to your pet's familiar routine. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐌𝐞? I believe pet care should be a stress-free, premium experience for both you and your furry family members. When you book with me, you aren’t just getting someone to check a box, you’re getting a dedicated caretaker who treats your home and pets with the utmost respect. 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 *𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞*: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑼𝒑𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔: You will receive frequent, bright, high-quality photo updates during our time together so you never have to wonder how your pet is doing. 𝑨 𝑭𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒈𝒆 𝑲𝒆𝒆𝒑𝒔𝒂𝒌𝒆: At the end of my time with your pet, I print out one of our best photos, turn it into a custom magnet, and leave it on your fridge as a permanent keepsake. 𝑨 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌-𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝑻𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕: Along with a handwritten wrap-up note, I always leave a complimentary fresh-baked treat from my bakery for you to enjoy when you get home! 𝐌𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝑺𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒆𝒅 𝑴𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 & 𝑺𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒐𝒓 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒆: Leaving a senior or medically fragile pet can be incredibly stressful, but your furry family member is in safe, experienced hands with me. My personal and professional experience includes managing **feline diabetes**, tracking **strict prescription urinary diets**, and caring for sweet cats with **Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH)**. 𝑪𝒂𝒕𝒔 𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒆: As a dedicated cat parent to four rescues of my own, I speak "fluent feline." I understand how to read cat body language, handle complex weight-management schedules, and give them the exact space, pacing, or affection they need on their own terms. 𝑬𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒅 𝑫𝒐𝒈 𝑾𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈: I have years of experience walking dogs of various sizes and energy levels, keeping them safe, engaged, and thoroughly exercised. 𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚 & 𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕: My background in local law enforcement communications means I take home security, clear communication, and emergency preparedness incredibly seriously. Your keys, codes, and home are entirely safe in my hands. I can't wait to meet you and your pets! Please feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a Meet & Greet. I operate a small cottage bakery full-time, which gives me excellent flexibility throughout the week! My primary baking days are Thursdays and Fridays. Outside of those specific baking windows, my schedule is completely open and flexible for midday walks, drop-in visits, and plenty of focused attention for your pets on weekends and early-to-mid-week days. Because I run an active home kitchen, I provide care exclusively in your pet's familiar, comfortable home environment. My background in local law enforcement communications means I prioritize home security, strict adherence to instruction, and safety above all else. Your keys, home access codes, and pet safety are handled with the highest level of professional responsibility. Alicia was a perfect fit as a sitter for our four little dogs, each with their own quirks and personalities. We received updates from her throughout the time we were away, along with photos and videos. We returned home to find everything just as we left it, and out four dogs healthy and happy to see us. I would recommend Alicia for your dog sitting needs, and will surely call upon her again for our next time away from home.

Shortly before leaving for a two week international trip I was left trying to find a long term, overnight sitter on short notice for my dog. Aubry was quick to respond to my request and was very open with how long she would have to leave my dog to attend classes or walk another dog. Even so she left Lucy-Mae for no more than a few hours at a time. She kept me updated and even gave Lucy-Mae a bath during her sit. I feel a huge weight had been lifted knowing someone like Aubry is available to help care for my spoiled little girl and will absolutely be booking her for future overnights or random walks I need covered.

About: I’ve had plenty of dogs my entire life as well as taken care of friends and families dogs. Overnight, check ins or walking. I love walking dogs especially and playing with all animals. I will provide a safe, caring, and loving environment for your pets so you’re worry free while away from them! Currently between jobs and am a full time online college student. So I am pretty flexible!! If something doesn’t work i’ll just make that clear but I do not have many scheduled things in my day to day. I don’t mind doing feeding, walking, play time! Also don’t mind light clean up if they make a mess while you are gone. My dogs are kind of crazy so I understand messes happen! My dogs have an open back yard but if your dog is trained to walk I will be happy to take them out that way. My dogs get plenty of play time mainly with each other but i’ve done plenty of play time with them myself and can incorporate that with you dogs if they require play time! I also have dealt with older and sick dogs so I know how to be gentle and handle that. I have also had my own cat and watched others, I adore cats. Mine was sick for a while so i’m familiar with oral medication for cats and soothing cats’ anxieties as mine suffered heavily from unknown anxiety.

About: I’ve grown up my whole life around dogs. Growing up I had 5 dogs and love dogs. Have experience with puppies and older dogs, even having to pick them up to care for them. I currently work part time on weekends and can stay all day and overnight depending on the situation. Will walk the dog however much is needed and am great at mixing up meals. If you would like them to stay with me, I have an apartment and live alone with a pet friendly apartment complex. Or I can stay with them and listen to your instructions

This was our first time with Rover, and I could not have asked for a better sitter for our dogs and house. Rochelle made a real and true bond with our two dogs. She made a personal connection with our pups. I want to emphasize that she really cared. Rochelle sent us daily pictures and videos that brought so many smiles to our faces while we were away. Her care took away our separation anxieties. This allowed to relax and enjoy our trip rather worry about how things were at home. If I could give Rochelle more than 5 stars, I would do that.

About: I’ve been around horses all my life. I’ve also have had cats and dogs for the last 30 years. I’ve also helped with rescues to find homes for cats and dogs. I try to be flexible on scheduling. I can walk, come in let animals out, feed animals, ect. I can also give daily updates on how your pets are doing. I’ve helped take care of puppies and kittens as well. I have 3 dogs and 5 cats at home. My horse passed away in 2019. I’ve had a few cats over the last few years that have had to be put down due to health complications. The animals safety and health is highly important to me. They’ll get excellent care. I accommodate to what the owners would like. I have open availability! I will mark out any days on the app that I may be out of town or unavailable to do a service! I’d love to be able to help take care of your beloved pets! I have a fenced yard. Can turn the dogs out separately. Can also come to your house and walk. Crate if necessary. Lots of play time

About: Hi! I'm Reis, a dependable and active animal lover with both professional and personal pet care experience. I previously worked at a dog boarding facility where I supervised doggie daycare, monitored group play, and helped ensure dogs stayed safe, happy, and well cared for throughout the day. This experience taught me how to work with dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, and energy levels. In addition to my professional experience, I have provided overnight house-sitting and pet-sitting services, caring for pets in their own homes and maintaining their regular routines while their owners were away. I understand how important it is for pets to feel comfortable and secure, and I strive to provide attentive, loving care that gives both pets and owners peace of mind. As someone with an active lifestyle, I enjoy spending time outdoors and can provide plenty of exercise, walks, playtime, and companionship. Whether your pet needs a long walk, a weekend sitter, or just some extra attention during the day, I'll treat them with the same care and respect I would give my own. I currently work a part-time job that allows me to have a lot of flexibility. I am able to work in all of Richmond and surrounding areas as well. When caring for pets in a client's home, I focus on maintaining their normal routine so they feel comfortable and secure while you're away. Through my experience working at a dog daycare facility, overnight house-sitting, and caring for both a senior dog and a young dog of my own, I've learned that every pet has different needs and energy levels. Whether your pet prefers a relaxed walk and extra patience or lots of activity and play, I'll make sure they receive personalized care and feel safe, happy, and loved.

About: Hi! My name is Olivia, and I’ve been caring for dogs and animals for as long as I can remember. Growing up around pets gave me a natural love for animals, and over the years I’ve helped care for dogs and cats of all sizes, ages, and personalities. I have experience with walking, feeding, playtime, administering medications, and maintaining each pet’s normal routine to help them feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. What sets me apart is the genuine love and care I give every animal. I treat every pet like family and truly enjoy spending time with them, whether that means long walks, playing fetch, or simply keeping them company in their home. I currently have a very open and flexible schedule while I wait to begin my career as an Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant in late August. Because of this, I’m able to dedicate plenty of time and attention to your pets throughout the day. My flexible availability allows me to accommodate walks, drop-ins, overnight stays, and last-minute scheduling needs whenever possible. I love staying active, so spending time outdoors walking and caring for dogs is something I genuinely enjoy during this transition period before starting work. Providing a safe, loving, and trustworthy environment for pets is my top priority. I understand how important it is to feel confident leaving your pet in someone else’s care, and I always strive to create a calm, dependable, and comfortable experience for both pets and owners. I live in a pet-friendly environment with plenty of safe areas for walks and outdoor time, and I carefully follow each owner’s home instructions regarding routines, medications, feeding schedules, and special needs. I’m attentive, responsible, and communicative, and I’ll always make sure your pet receives the love, attention, and care they deserve while you’re away. 🐾

FAQs for House Sitting - Milford

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Milford on Rover is $37.99 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of June 2026, there are 1,517 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Milford. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Milford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Milford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Milford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Milford. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
