“Ellen is a phenomenal sitter. Athena has stayed with her twice and there are always other pups for her to play with and so much space. Ellen has no issue at all maintaining multiple dogs! Athena is always so happy at drop off and pickup, and needs a big nap after her stay from all the fun! We look forward to booking again!!”

“I usually don't leave reviews but I have to this time. Renee is amazing! We found ourselves needing a sitter for our 7 month old Golden Doodle for a week. I had never used the Rover app OR a dog boarding service before. I found Renee using the Star Sitters filter and I am so grateful to her. She was patient with all of my questions (before, during, and after the meeting and greet!) and immediately put my mind at ease. You can tell she has a lot of experience with dogs and has a very calm but assertive demeanor with them that made me confident she could handle our amped up puppy. While we were away she sent us pictures and updates regularly without me asking so I was never worried about how he was. He even made friends at her house to play with! After bringing him home I could tell she kept him on his routine and he is doing great. I can't recommend her enough!”

“Terri was amazing. So chill and relaxed around our sensitive dog. She is one of those rare sitters that does not have her own dogs or cats and is 100% dedicated to yours. She has a house and yard that are peaceful and quiet and in a great neighborhood for interesting walks. I would 100% recommend Terri, she is an absolute gem.”

“Brianna is amazing! I felt like my dog was in safe hands the entire weekend. She was very communicative and always sent us photos of Teddy and her hiking, hanging out and playing. We highly recommend her for watching your fur baby!”

“Ashley and Joshua are very sweet and my pup was happy staying with them. I enjoyed seeing photos of her while I was away. This was a first time hiring someone to look after my dog. I will definitely use them again.”

“Couldn’t be more grateful for finding this family. Imer and Michelle are the best. We are so happy to have them as neighbors. Our dogs loved them. Imer sending update for our dogs two or three times of a day.”

“At this point our pup is there child!! She lovessssss Rodney and Marissa as soon as we pull up she forgets me!! I trust her reviews— there home is her other home and i leave her with comfort of knowing that she’s more than safe she’s loved!! Thanks guys for always providing 5 star service to our bratty fur princess”

“Simon had a great day with Lonnie and the other dogs. He was so tired from playing, he didn't even hop on the couch with us that night. Lonnie was quick to reply, sent pictures and you can really tell he just loves dogs like his own. He also sat with Simon in a quiet space so S could eat his dinner. He has a tendency to not eat when he's busy busy with other doggies, so we really appreciated that. Would definitely recommend!”

“Christa watched my 3 pups for 10 days and did a wonderful job. We were able to set up a meet and greet prior to my trip. She sent me photos and updates during their stay, and they all looked happy. Highly recommend booking with her!”

“Marne and family did and awesome job watching my pups. Wilson can be a handful and Raven has some special needs and they were super great and conscientious about taking super good care of them. Appreciated the pics and videos while we were away.”

“We can’t give a more glowing review of the job Rene did watching our four cats. She took amazing care of them for the three days we were showing our house. She sent regular updates on how they were all doing and gave them lots of love and attention. We can’t recommend her more. Thank you so much Rene. We will be back!”

“My sweet girl, Pearl, can be wary of strangers upon first meeting them. But she took an instant liking to Dan and his pup. His large fenced yard provided the perfect environment for Pearl to freely roam and expend her energy, keeping her happy and content. The pictures and video that Dan sent me truly captured Pearl's joy and excitement. It is evident that she felt comfortable and at ease in his care. His thoughtful updates and the love he showed her mean the world to me. I am grateful to have found such a caring and responsible person like Dan to look after Pearl. His kindness and dedication have not gone unnoticed, and I have full confidence in leaving Pearl in his care in the future.”

“I felt very at ease leaving Diesel with Frances! Diesel had plenty of safe space to play and went for walks. He went on a short trip to Belle Island. Frances also gave him his daily medicine. And I loved the picture she sent me. With her background I was pretty sure she could handle my guy. I will definitely recommend Frances to others. Diesel looks forward to staying again with his new buddy! ”

“We had a wonderful experience with Lydia! She and her family took excellent care of our dog while we were away, kept us updated with messages and photos, and gave us complete peace of mind. It was clear our pup was happy, comfortable, and well cared for. We truly appreciated her reliability, kindness, and genuine care for our dog. We wouldn’t hesitate to book her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy to care for their dogs!”

About: Hi there! I’m Courtney – lifelong animal lover, seasoned pet parent, and your pet’s next favorite human. 🐾 From fluffy kittens to wise senior pups, I’ve cared for just about every kind of furry (and finned!) friend you can think of - cats, dogs, fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits… basically everything except the slithery and scaly crew (sorry, lizards and snakes, you're adorable but not my specialty!). With a lifetime of experience and a current household that includes four cats and two dogs (yes, it’s as wonderfully chaotic as it sounds), I’ve seen it all - from zoomies and belly rubs to insulin shots and joint supplements. I’ve raised pets from their earliest days through to their golden years, including those with special needs like hip dysplasia and diabetes. Administering routine meds and providing compassionate, attentive care is just part of the package. I know firsthand that pets are family, and when you're away, you deserve peace of mind knowing your beloved companions are safe, happy, and well cared for. Whether your pet is a snuggly couch potato, an energetic explorer, or a quirky little character with special routines, I’ll treat them like one of my own. Let’s make your time away as stress-free as a sunny nap in a windowsill. ☀️🐕🐈⬛ I have a flexible daytime desk job, allowing me to set my own schedule and typically wrapping each day by 5p so my evenings are free. I'm happily married and my husband also works a flexible day job so he is able to hold down the fort with our pets and teens so that I can take care of your family when you're away! I'd love to provide your pet with drop-in care that suits their individual and unique needs, whether that's going for walks, playing in an enclosed yard, or hanging out for a bit for belly rubs, cuddles, and treats. I'm flexible to each pet's needs and want to be sure they feel loved and cared for in your absence. And of course, it's important to me to be sure they are in a clean, safe, fed environment during the times that I'm not there - whether that means making sure water dishes are full, messes are cleaned up, doors are secured, temperatures are comfortable, etc. I've worked with pets who prefer crate-training to those who are allowed free reign, and am comfortable with whatever YOUR structure is for your pet. If they're happy, I'm happy.
About: I have recently relocated to Frederick, Maryland from California after recently retiring & wanting to be closer to family <3 I have over 12 years of hands-on experience caring for dogs, cats, and rabbits, including senior and special-needs pets and animals requiring medications. I currently have a French Bulldog, four cats, and a rabbit of my own, so caring for multiple animals with different personalities, routines, and needs is part of my everyday life. I’m comfortable administering medications, following detailed feeding and care instructions, providing walks and enrichment, and recognizing changes in an animal’s behavior or health. I’ve also volunteered with animal shelters in both California and North Carolina. I worked as a first responder for almost 14 years, I’m dependable, trustworthy, safety-conscious, and take the responsibility of caring for someone’s pets very seriously. I’m retired with a completely flexible schedule, so pet care can easily be accommodated throughout my day. I’m available mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays for boarding, doggy daycare, and plenty of one-on-one attention. I provide a safe, comfortable environment tailored to each pet’s individual needs and routine. I have a fenced backyard for supervised outdoor time and plenty of indoor space, including separate areas when a visiting pet needs their own quiet space away from my animals. I’m experienced with medications, senior and special-needs pets, and will closely follow all feeding, exercise, medication, and care instructions. I will treat your animals as if they were my own while I am trusted with their care. As a retired first responder, safety, responsibility, trust, and attention to detail are extremely important to me. 🐶😺🐰🏡🐾

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Middleburg home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Middleburg.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Middleburg sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
