About: We have experience caring for dogs, cats, reptiles, fish, birds, and hampsters. We have successfully house and crate trained every dog we have adopted into the family. I work remotely Monday and Friday, so am home all day on those two days. My 16 year old son homeschools, so he is home all day, every day, and loves animals. I have a fenced yard and one dog that lives in the home. Lucy loves to have company, is crate and house trained. We currently have no other pets, but would love to have visitors to love on and send home at the end of the day. Please note that we will not accept dogs that are not crate trained. Since we care for a few dogs at a time, we do require they all be kenneled if we leave the home. We are not away from the home often, or long when we are gone. However, in order to ensure the safety of all dogs while we are away, they must be kenneled when we leave. I do understand kennels can be traumatic for some dogs, especially those that have experienced trauma in their life. I am sympathetic to this and know that we would not be a good fit to care for those pups who are not/cannot be kenneled.

Haley followed all our requests and did everything letter perfect! We are so grateful for her taking care of our furry family members while we were away for the evening and would love to have her take care of them in the future whenever we are away.”

“Mallory has left us and our lab Koda very happy with her service, AGAIN!! When my fiancé and I find ourselves in a pickle with our jobs in the healthcare field, we work 7am to 7pm and that is far too long for Koda to be alone. We just had mallory come 2x/day for 60 minutes each time we were gone from 7am to 7pm, and it was exactly what our pup needed! I can’t say enough about mallory and the excellent services she provides. we will continue to use her to care for our furry family member!”

About: I treat every dog like my own—with love, patience, and plenty of playtime! I understand that every pup has their own personality and needs, and I tailor my care to match. Whether it’s long walks, belly rubs, or sticking to a strict feeding schedule, I’m reliable, attentive, and always focused on your dog’s comfort and happiness. With experience caring for dogs of all sizes and temperaments, you can feel confident they’re in safe, loving hands while you’re away. Hi! I’m Kat, a stay-at-home mom and lifelong animal lover with three dogs of my own. 🐾 Being home with my little one gives me a flexible schedule, so pet sitting is a great fit for this season of life! I know how stressful it can be to leave your pets behind, whether you’re at work, taking a day trip, or going out of town. My goal is to make things as easy as possible for both you and your pets while keeping them comfortable with their normal routine. I’m happy to help with: • Drop-in visits and potty breaks • Feeding and fresh water • Walks and playtime • Lots of attention, cuddles, and company • Basic medication when instructions are provided • Photo and text updates so you know how your pet is doing • Bringing in packages/mail and other small pet-related tasks while you’re away I’m comfortable with different personalities, from energetic and playful dogs to pets who need a little extra patience and time to warm up. As a pet owner myself, I’ll treat your pets the way I’d want someone to treat mine—with patience, kindness, and plenty of love. ❤️🐶 I’m located in the Newburgh/Evansville area and would love to become someone your family can rely on whenever your pets need a little extra care! Your dog will enjoy a secure, fenced-in yard and the companionship of my three friendly dogs. Kennels are available if your pet is accustomed to crate time.

About: Hi, my name is Karen and I’ve been taking care of people’s pets for over 10 years now. I love all animals. If I could have a bunch of them of my own running around I would. I have a three dogs. A lab husky mix and she’s a hot mess! She is doing very good with her obedience training that I’m doing at home. We have two German shepherds that I like to call my pound puppies because they were adopted from the shelter. They are also working in n manners and obedience training. I’m available for overnight stays or I’m willing to do drop ins to feed, water and take your dog out, change litter box and play with your pet while you’re away. If there are other pet needs we can discuss those as well. For the boarders, you’ll be at ease knowing your baby won’t be locked away in a kennel most of the time. They’ll have plenty of play time here with Ms. Miya in our fenced yard. Plus we’re minutes from the dog park and river walk for those nice days out. I look forward to meeting you and your fur baby. I no longer work My schedule is open so I have flexibility to meet most needs. I’ll try to keep the online schedule updated with any days that need blocked out I typically will have you write out a list of pet routine and needs to make sure all your pets needs are met. I will follow the schedule outlined and offer plenty of playtime.

Quick to respond and answer questions. From what I can tell, our 3 dogs were well taken care of and on another note, we have an Aussie who is very selective about people and is very anxious around new people. I think he did well.

FAQs for Pet Sitting - Melody Hill

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .

sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
