“Candice was very thoughful and kind. She checked in with us frequently, and made sure to follow our instructions. I would trust her again with our dog and our home.”

“Tate did a wonderful job caring for our fur family during our vacation! She asked questions to ensure she understood how to care for our special gang. We especially appreciated the photos she sent us daily which helped to ease our concerns being away. She treated not only our animals but our home respectfully and we would have no reservations (and look forward to) using her in the future.”

About: I have taken care of animals, specifically dogs my entire life! I have two dogs, One 5 turning 6 this upcoming winter, and the other 13 years old! I am a huge animal lover & I pet sit my friends dogs every once in a while and I realized I really enjoy it! I am also attending Waynesburg University in the fall to major in Biomedical Science Pre-vet and plan to go to Grad school to become a veterinarian I work at a restaurant in Girad! & I love playing pickleball, taking my dogs on walks, and enjoying the sun within my free time. Recently graduated highschool so i’m kind of an open book! I have two dogs that would keep other dogs company! I plan on doing dog walking, check ins, no at home sitting at my home but I am available to pop in other homes!

“Samm was amazing with our animals! She sent updates and pictures every day she watched them. I was well assured that our animals were well taken care of. Definitely recommend her!”

About: I am a Division 1 soccer player that manages time very well. With that, I am very active and responsible. I grew up with dogs my whole life and had to end up taking care of 2 of my senior dogs. They were a lot to take care of but, that didn’t matter to me as long as they were feeling loved. We have adopted 2 puppies within the past 3 years, so I do understand the commitment it takes to keep them in order. I have taught my puppies tricks, like sit, shake, spin and lay down! I do work part-time in the restaurant business so my shifts only last 4-5 hours max. I am very active, so I get my puppies walked usually 2-3 times a day. Whenever I am pet sitting, I make the pet my priority. I usually plan my schedule on what I have to do around the pet I am sitting. I provide safe, loving care tailored to each pet’s routine. In clients’ homes, I keep their routine consistent with feeding, walks/litter care, and lots of attention, plus regular updates for peace of mind.
“Matt did a great job taking care of Phoebe. He picked her up from boarding, shared photos with us during the stay and communicated with us to coordinate our return from the trip. Definitely recommend Matt and will book him again”

“Amanda was great with our three Husky’s. They are all blowing their coats and she did a great job keeping up with the flying fur. Our dogs were so calm and relaxed when we got home, she did a great job of keeping me updated and I didn’t have to worry about whether or not they were well cared for during our vacation!”

I just graduated college and am applying for corporate jobs at the moment, but so far am primarily pet sitting so my schedule is very open. I do not care for pets in my home as it is a shared space with roommates and pets. Thank you for your time and understanding.

“Bailey was fantastic. House was just as it was left and I’m very happy I used Rover to find her. I was much happier leaving him with her than putting in a dare care type place. Bailey was very kind and I could tell she cares for pets well.”

About: I’ve taken care of animals of all kinds since before I was in elementary school. I have had a dog of my own for 10 years and I have been relied on by friends and family members to watch their animals when they are away. I’m currently a full-time college student at Ohio University, so taking care of pets is more of a weekend or holiday gig for me! I could fit a daily walk in to my schedule too! However you need me to care for your pets, I can do it! I am incredibly patient when it comes to animals and am willing to do just about anything to make them happy, comfortable, and well taken care of.
“Olivia is truly everything you could hope for in a dog sitter. From the very beginning, she has been incredibly communicative and thoughtful. She always checks in, clearly coordinates her schedule, and lets me know exactly when she’ll be with my pup which is so reassuring. Her constant communication gives me complete peace of mind, and it’s obvious how much she genuinely cares. Most importantly, my dog absolutely loves her. I can tell he feels comfortable, happy, and well cared for every time he’s with Olivia. I’m so grateful to have found someone this reliable, attentive, and kind. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter they can fully trust.”

About: I’ve loved animals(and caring for them) since i was a child. And now, as a veterinary student, animals are an even bigger part of my life! As a veterinary student on summer break, i have some flexibility. I can care for your furry friends at whatever time is needed for you! I will care for your pet in any way that you’d like, ensuring a stress-free and comfortable environment for them. They will also receive lots of love and affection from me!
“Paige is extremely reliable and she consistently offers excellent care to our beloved pets... Our pets love to be around her and because of this, we can be away from home without worrying about them for a few days... Thankful to have met her through this service...”

“Luna helped us out in a tight situation! We needed a pet sitter at the last minute and she pulled through for us. She was willing to come without meeting our pets before the weekend she came to sit. Luna was responsible and I felt our pets were safe with her. I would definitely ask her to come again.”

We could not be more pleased with Stephanie. We were VERY impressed with the Stephanie from the start, when we first interviewed. We didn't think we would ever be able to replace Zolo's previous sitter, but Stephanie's efforts have us believing it IS possible. Zolo was pretty much the same way we left him, upon our return, instead of kinda depressed like he frequently was with other sitters. Communication with Stephanie was consistent and pleasant. She shared pictures of a "happy" Zolo which put our minds at ease. Stephanie was offered the run of our house, and she was very respectful of everything. We don't travel as much anymore, but when we do in the future, I sincerely hope that Stephanie is available.

Kaitlin is so sweet! She took great care of our 2 pups while we were away for the night! Kaitlin was on time, sent pictures and updates frequently, she even hand fed our sweet puggle because he was wearing a cone at the time and having trouble eating. Just Amazing! You can truly tell her love for animals! Highly recommend and will definitely book again!

Kaitlin is the best! I went away for an overnighter and my two pups were given so much love and attention at my home while I was away. They were relaxed, calm and happy when I returned. Kaitlin was so good at keeping me updated and sending sweet pictures of my fur babies. My two pups took to her right away. She’s so good with animals, genuine, trustworthy with a great work ethic. I highly recommend! I will absolutely be booking with them again! Thank you again, Kaitlin!

FAQs for House Sitting - McDonald
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 288 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across McDonald. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred McDonald walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in McDonald maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in McDonald choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in McDonald. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
