About: Reliable dog care from a boarding kennel worker with hands-on experience in daily care, routines, and behavior. Beginning AKC training soon. With some veterinary experience as well. I have a flexible schedule as a full-time student, so I can stop by before or after classes for walks, feeding, medications, bathroom breaks, and other care needs. I’m happy to help with weekend visits and can do overnight stays when possible. I’m comfortable traveling up to about 25 miles for pet care. I treat every pet like part of my family, giving plenty of attention, love, and consistency. Inside my home, I maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment, following each pet’s routine for meals, bathroom breaks, play, and rest. I’m attentive to behavior, health, and individual needs, and I make sure pets feel secure, happy, and cared for while their owners are away. My reliability, patience, and flexibility help me provide personalized care that puts both pets and owners at ease.

Julie did a great job caring for our dogs! She sent lots of picture updates and was a quick communicator. Julie was able to be at our home with the dogs the majority of each day to keep them company. She gave them new toys and spent a lot of time with them playing outside!

Serenity was wonderful. So communicative and there for my animals around the clock. I had a friend drop out at the last minute and was unable to take care of our animals but serenity was ready to take care of them the second I reached out. She has done a great job of taking care of my dog pets needs and making me feel secure in her care. I would definitely recommend her and would love to use her services in the future!

About: I’ve been an animal lover my entire life and have over 30 years of experience caring for both dogs and cats. I grew up with cats and have spent the last several years loving my own Aussiedoodle, Scout. We recently lost our cat, and I truly miss those kitty cuddles, so I’d be thrilled to spend time caring for yours. Whether it’s walks, drop-in visits, feeding, playtime, or simply giving your pet companionship while you’re away, I’ll treat them like family. I’m active, dependable, detail-oriented, and happy to follow your pet’s routine exactly as you prefer. I’ll also send plenty of photo and text updates so you can relax knowing your pet is happy and well cared for. I work for myself, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to provide dependable care throughout the day. I’m available for walks, drop-in visits, and pet check-ins. Whether your pet needs a midday potty break, a long walk, or some extra love while you’re away, I’ll do my best to accommodate your schedule and keep your furry family member happy, exercised, and cared for. Your pet’s safety and comfort will always be my top priority. I understand that every animal has a unique personality and routine, so I’ll carefully follow your instructions for feeding, medications, walks, playtime, and any special needs. I believe in earning both your trust and your pet’s trust through patience, consistency, and kindness. You’ll receive regular updates and photos during each visit, and I’ll always treat your home with the same respect I’d expect someone to show mine.

I’m dependable, attentive, and committed to providing every dog with safe, caring, and enjoyable walks. About: The things that separate me from other sitters are my active lifestyle, strong communication, adaptability/ flexibility and silliness! I love to go hiking, running, swimming at the family lake, explore dog parks and other fun activities while sitting. Options are endless and will keep you posted with fun photos, videos and other messages to make sure you know your pet is safe. I do not ADD ANY STRESS. Quite the opposite. I am here to help and relieve the stress of boarding your pet. And I'm okay with being scheduled same day or same day cancellation. I understand things come up, please just try and be certious and thoughtful though with lack of communication. I am currently working part-time as a rideshare driver and am part-time student in grad school to get my masters in psychology. And back living at my parents house with a big yard in the basement to play in. When I am pet sitting I revolve my life around the needs of the pet and adapt my schedule to their potty breaks and eating habits. Like I said, I'm flexible and easygoing and luckily don't have too much on .y plate right now besides studying and private rides mostly at night! I have backup as well with my cousin who lives with me. Leashes all the time if they could get away or in public. I have a stand outside with a long leash for extended outside time but am usually just side-by-side the pet most of the time so they are in good eyes. Clean environment, no drugs, no partying, no garbage laying around. (I live with my parents currently in Montgomery, OH and they are on board as well as they love pets too!)

About: Hello, my name is Jordan. I am a pet sitter based in Mount Orab, Ohio! I have 4 cats and a little Chiweenie Puggle with my boyfriend. I often take care of strays around the neighborhood and have even taken in a few. I work to advocate for those who don't have a voice. I enjoy walking in the outdoors! Perfect for your little pup full of energy. I have always had a passion for animals since I was little, accumulating a lot of pet care experience under my belt with smaller animals over the course of a decade. I always treat every furbaby as if they are my own. I cannot wait to meet yours, they will have my full heart and attention! Always up to answer those questions and concerns, you can rely on me to be there for you and your dog. I tend to specialize in small dogs and other small animals. I have a fairly flexible schedule due to working for myself currently, making plenty of time for your pet throughout the week Monday through Sunday as well as most holidays! I care for the pets in and around my home by feeding with set schedules, cleaning up any messes created, scooping litterboxes everyday, cleaning food bowls, walking my dog multiple times throughout the day, crating my dog at night, as well as keeping them enriched and entertained!

About: Woof! Im a responsible and trustworthy military veteran with a true passion for dogs.I have ample experience, having helped run a nonprofit dog rescue for many years. I’m kind, gentle, patient, and extremely comfortable around canines. Being an active and energetic kind of gal, your babies will have a blast during their time with me! Their paws will be in good hands. P.S ( I’ll treat your dog as if they were my own). I work from home, (free lance writing) and have plenty of time to host your dog. Being a homebody, I only step out for a few hours, for kickboxing and weight training. I have an extremely large yard with lots of room for: exercise, playtime, and exploring. And I’m well equipped with several doggy condos (crates and cages).

Tatum was the most respectful, loving, and caring sitter for my new puppy! She was very knowledgeable about dogs! She did everything I asked and followed directions clearly. Tatum also sent me a ton of pictures and text updates throughout her stay at my apartment. I am so happy I found her as my sitter!!! After I had a tough time with a different sitter in the past, she definitely made me feel comforted that my puppy was taken care of. Very professional care! I will be using her as much as possible!

About: As your pet's second best friend, I offer tailored care, genuine love, and a paw-sitively unforgettable experience! I am well educated in dog training, ensuring they’re mentally and physically stimulated, to overall pet health. I take care of my dog to the fullest extent, your dog will be treated all the same as a new member of the pack! To ensure safety and health, we don’t play right after eating to avoid bloat, I am very conscious of heat on their paws when walking on different surfaces, I avoid rawhide treats and go with homemade or very natural treats instead, and those are just scratching the surface of do’s and don’ts! I keep a structured but flexible routine, which allows me to give your dog plenty of attention, exercise, and consistency. I prioritize walks, potty breaks throughout the day, and lots of playtime and enrichment. I’m home often and very intentional about making pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. Whether your dog needs structure, cuddles, or high energy engagement, I adapt to their personality and routine to make their stay feel as close to home as possible! Your dog’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I have a well-socialized dog, Dilo, who has a background in working in high stress environments to not be reactive. Nonetheless, I always do slow introductions to ensure everyone feels safe and comfortable. If needed, I can crate or provide separate spaces for rest and decompression. Inside my home, I maintain a clean, structured environment with plenty of space for play and relaxation. I closely monitor interactions, follow feeding instructions carefully, and stick to your dog’s routine as closely as possible so they maintain some sense of routine while being away from home.

Katie is an incredible petsitter!!! She managed taking care of my 3 pets, including one who goes to daycare 3 times a week. My husband and I went on a week-long vacation and I didn’t have to worry about our pets or home a single time. Katie sent me daily updates, which was awesome, and took the time to meet with us beforehand. Seriously can’t recommend her enough!

FAQs for House Sitting - Martinsville

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 567 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Martinsville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Martinsville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Martinsville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Martinsville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Martinsville. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
