“Dog whisperer. Very upbeat, energetic. Provided details on visits and seems to love her job. Was always on time and stayed for the entire durations. Everything you’d want in a sitter for your pet. This was our first time using the service. We will definitely select her next time we need sitter services.”

“Toni is amazing! She spent the time to get to know my pup and was great with him. Her experience with her own pets is evident, and she is a trustworthy walker! She was flexible and communicated clearly!”

“Jen has been fabulous with Bruno! I will definitely ask her to care for him again. Jenn arrived on time twice each day, played with, fed and trained Bruno enthusiastically. She provided very thorough reports complete with many photos for each visit.”

“Sarah came highly recommended from our old sitter who is leaving town. She is kind, patient, and genuinely caring. Our dog felt comfortable and happy right away, which gave us total peace of mind at meet and greet. Such a nice, trustworthy person—we’d absolutely book her again.”

About: I once fostered a very cute polydatcyl cat named Cleo and enjoyed every moment of having a fur friend around. I did not mind at all the responsibilities involved in her care and wellbeing. It only lasted for a year but I am sure Cleo remembers/misses me as much as I miss her. I respect all forms of life and I aspire to gain trust and experience in my community. I currently have full time availability. I do have extensive professional background working in leadership roles so I am very responsible and have always prioritized humanity over production. I also enjoy cooking in my free time. While in a client's home, I am very observant of hazards and potential causes for problems. My time will be spent fully attentative to the unique care instructions left by the pets family and also will remain acutely aware of the pets wellbeing for the entire duration of my stay. I have foundational knowledge in cat and dog behavior as well as an understanding of appropriate first aid if ever needed.
“Christie does drop in visits with my dog Kato on some weekends. She’s very easy to work with and Kato always seems comfortable and happy when I get home! Will continue to book with her!”
About: I’ve had the pleasure of taking care of 5 fur babies throughout my life. I enjoy playing, providing snuggles, and of course some yummy treats! I typically take care of dogs who are a little older but I am also comfortable with puppies! I’m currently working part-time and I would like to make extra money while being in the company of some fun pups! I’m typically available throughout the week in the afternoon and evenings. I’m usually available the whole weekend to play and be outside with the fur babies! I try to be active with the dogs, letting them out and playing with them but also allowing them to have some time socializing. I don’t mind crating them or following any routines that the dog may have!

About: As a pet caregiver, I focus on more than just feeding and walking—I build trust, comfort, and real connection with every animal I care for. I take the time to understand each pet’s unique personality, routines, and needs, offering personalized attention. Whether it’s extra playtime, gentle reassurance, or thoughtful updates to keep you in the loop, I treat every pet as if they’re my own. With me, your pet receives consistent, one-on-one care and genuine love—giving you peace of mind every time you’re away. I’ve had all types of animals growing up and would bring home all the strays. I currently work as a daycare teacher and get done at 2pm go home and let my own dogs out and then im ready to meet your loving animals you can book me from 3pm till 10pm I have a fenced in big backyard the dogs have plenty of room to run and have fun, play and use the bathroom as many times they need.

About: I haven’t taken care of dogs professionally but I have always had a deep love for dogs. I have owned an American Bully and English Bulldog on my own and have had multiple family dogs growing up. Having my own dogs, I have gone through the process of training two different types of temperaments and am looking forward to engaging/learning about more! I currently work from home as an accountant M-F. I have the flexibility to leave and return as needed. I could take my laptop if I needed to be around for an extended amount of time. Otherwise, I have the ability to use my flexibility to be present. I have an open living room setup and an English bulldog of my own to keep them company as well. We go on multiple walks a day and I make sure to try and exert the energy of whatever dog I am with at the time (so they don’t have much time to miss their parents 😂). I have room to crate the dogs if needed and also a pet camera that helps with monitoring.
“Kara was incredible for the 5 days I needed her to watch my senior dog. She did 2 daily check ins, walks and feedings. She was thorough, kind and consistent. Her communication was the best I've ever received from walkers on this site. She let me know EVERYTHING which was so helpful! She even left a little toy for my dog after she left. It was a great experience and I can't wait to work with Kara again! 5 stars! If I could rate more, I would!”

“Mia is absolutely fantastic! She is incredibly sweet and very willing to go above and beyond. Our cats instantly warmed up to her. She also provided many pictures during each of her stop-in's showing how our fur babies were doing. We will absolutely be using her services in the future and highly recommend to anyone considering hiring her services.”

About: Hi my name is Evan! let’s begin with a little bit about myself to make sure that I am the perfect sitter/walker for you and your furry companions. Firstly it’s been a really big passion of mine to be able to work with all different kinds of animals and breeds. I have experience with mostly dogs, but I’m open to working with different types of animals as well because I believe in the importance of building and connecting with my pet parents from all different backgrounds. While giving you the full reassurance needed in order to feel comfortable and secure when entrusting me with your pet companion, I can assure you that I will give them the best possible care and support they deserve and need. I’ve worked with small breeds half my life and now I was given a chance to care for three larger dogs in my recent years. through the differences between caring for a small breeds and going into caring for a larger breeds I have learned more about the ways that they interact and how they respond to certain conditions. I’m capable of handling situations which call for a lot of patience and compassion. The example I want to make when working with your pet comes down to understanding who the pets are and how they will react. I’ve worked with not so social pets and overly social ones as well, before me and your pet will interact or leave the house I will build up a circle of trust and connection to see what kind of personality that they will have. I know from prior experience that some pets are not fans of each other or people and have a difficult time regulating their own emotions unless they’re are familiar with a specific environment or trigger. Some have the tendency to shy away and lean more towards the comfort of having someone who will help them feel safe and calm when around them. This is my specialty. This would be the part where we form an understanding and get to know all the important details about your pet, as someone who is still learning don’t feel pressured if I ask any questions my intentions are to make sure I know everything I need in order to give you and your pet the best possible experience I can offer. and it’s my favorite part about working with pet parents. thank you for viewing my profile and hopefully I met the requirements that you have been looking for have a great day! My schedule's flexible. Contact me for availability, especially early mornings or late evenings. Ready to discuss at your convenience. Let's find the perfect time together! When sitting for someone I treat their home with respect and care, I follow the instructions given and when checking in or staying overnight my main focus is on their pets needs and attention.
“Violeta took great care of our pups while we were away. She played with them and spent cuddle time too. We appreciated the pictures sent as well. It is obvious that our pups enjoyed Violeta. We will definitely book Violeta again!!”

Don’t worry, I still have plenty of time to take care of your pets! I have SO much time between my classes during the week, time on weekends, and after my clinicals on Thursday and Friday’s! I am here to help! I live in a town house at Delaware in which I am able to bring your pet to! There is a fenced in tennis court and park a quick 2 minute walk away that I would take the doggy day out dogs to! I have taken care of pets in the homes of family, friends, and clients. I ensure to go into the house with a calm manor and let the pet get used to me before I walk them, play, or feed them. I have three golden retrievers myself that I care for and always want to ensure their safety. I will always make sure to ensure your pets safety too!
About: We brought home our 1st puppy when our eldest daughter was 8 weeks old. Everything since then has been easy! Currently have an 8yr old Golden Retriever with a fenced in backyard. Each of our grown children took in a dog or puppy once they had their own homes. We have had cats, hamsters, fish, and guinea pigs over the years. I'm recently semi-retired and my daughters have used Rover for their dogs in far away states. I thought it would be a nice way to give our dog a playmate every once in a while. We have a large fenced in yard which your dog can run around or hangout with our dog if they'd like. Our house is split level so there could be 6 stairs at time to go up & down. I love to walk our dog & listen to books or podcasts.

Alison is quite literally the best! This is our second time using Alison’s services and our shy girl Mookie just loves her! I’ve never seen our cat warm up to someone as quickly as she warmed up to Alison! Knowing Alison was there for Mookie during our vacation made everything less stressful. Would recommend Alison to anyone looking for a very kind and very reliable pet sitter who will give your fur baby the love and attention and care they need. Thank you again Alison!

Tori is excellent with our kitties! We always feel comfortable leaving them when she is caring for them. We know they're being well cared for. Tori is attentive, caring, and respectful of our asks and the kitties' needs. We will certainly have Tori back again!

Rachel has been taking care of Leo for months now. She really loves our little guy and he loves hanging out with her. I get really cute pictures of the walks and Leo playing with her. Right from meet and greet we know that Rachel is going to take good care of Leo.

We had a wonderful experience. Kaitlyn watched our Newfoundland puppy, Teddy, for an hour while I was at work and took great care of him. She was reliable, communicative, and made sure he was comfortable and well cared for. I will definitely book again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter.

Rachel was great with our three cats — Gus, Leo, and Cooper! She was easy to communicate with, flexible with timing, and clearly a true animal lover. Cooper is on the shyer side and Rachel was totally unfazed. We've used her before, will keep coming back, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
