“Lauren was very thorough with her meet and greet questions to cover all needs. She sent us updates and pictures of our two dogs. We are always happy to find a local person for dog sitting and would hire her again.”

“As always, Madison did a great job! The kitties are happy and still weird and my place is in great shape. Lots of great pics and updates. Such a relief knowing my boys are in good hands.”

About: I've been an animal person my whole life; from originally wanting to be a vet (decided to pivot due to the sadness that probably comes from being a vet) to caring for pets of my own. I've always felt I've been able to understand animals better than most people. I think it stems from my ability to innately understand their non-verbal communication. Hence, the Dolittle reference. A typical day in my home is calm, comfortable, and centered around the pet’s normal routine. I make sure they’re fed on schedule, have fresh water, a clean space, plenty of attention, and time to play or relax depending on their personality. I’m happy to follow any specific routines you have at home so your pet feels as comfortable and familiar as possible. I care for pets by following their normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, fresh water, litter box or potty breaks, playtime, and any special instructions from their owner. I also pay close attention to their behavior and comfort level, giving them plenty of affection when they want it and space when they need it.
“Shyla did a great job with my Great Dane, Zeke! He can be a lot to handle, and she was awesome with him. She left my house spotless after her stay, too. Communication was excellent before, during, and after her stay.”

“Matthew is a star. He is kind, calm, knowledgeable, resourceful and SO GOOD with our fur babies. We were comfortable trusting him with two quirky pitties, managing their needs with confidence. We hope to keep him coming back to (fur) babysit often!”

“Donna did a wonderful job looking after our older kitty for a couple nights. His (and our!) anxiety visibly lowered, thanks to her care, and we so appreciated the pictures she sent.”

About: I’ve had pets every day of my life, from cats to dogs of all sizes and personalities. Caring for animals comes naturally to me, and I love making each pet feel safe, happy, and loved. I’m experienced with feeding, walking, administering medications, and providing companionship tailored to each pet’s needs! I am currently working part time so I will have plenty of time to be with your pets. I do not have any animals of my own and I only work In my home, pets are welcomed into a safe, comfortable space with plenty of love, attention, and playtime. I keep their routine consistent so they feel right at home. In a client’s home, I follow your instructions closely—feeding, walks, play, litter, or medications—while giving pets the same care and affection they’d get if you were there. I also make sure your home is respected and left just as you like it.
“Lori was incredibly thoughtful, both leading up to the stay and during. She is kind and organized, provided lots of updates and photos, and took great care of both my boy and my home. I will absolutely book with her again!”

“Great communication and easy to work through details of the stay. Ron is a super kind person who will take great care of your pets! Don’t hesitate to book him to hang out with your pups!”

About: I have taken care of dogs ever since I was a child- my dad rescued my dog, rosie, when I was 9 years old. I know all of the responsibilities that come with raising a furry friend, and I will gladly face any challenges in order to improve my skills and service. I am honored to work alongside you, as well as your dog. I work part-time, as I attend high school. I am avaliable 5-7am and 4-12pm on weeknights. I am also avaliable to spend the night, too. I care for dogs, as cats are not yet in my field of experience. I am able to run, walk, feed, love and give attention to your fur babies as needed. In addition, I am prepared for any mess and will always leave the house tidied and cleaned up.

“I booked Gabe, since he is in my neighborhood, and I would readily book him again! He was very courteous and went above and beyond. He updated me frequently with photos of my pets, which made me feel more secure, and he made sure to communicate regularly. I would definitely recommend him to anyone else.”
About: I work remotely which makes house sitting easier. I will be home during the day with your dog. I have a 4 year old border collie who enjoys dog parks, fetch, frisbee and hiking. We, also, love a good relaxed day after adventures and easy walks in the park. I work full time from home but with many opportunities to take the dogs outside for potty breaks and play time. Dog stay with me at all times inside or outside. Fenced back yards or many walks for potty breaks. Also, dogs stay with me at all times or at least in a nearby room where they are comfortable. Dog beds, water and toys available at all times.
“Justise watched our two dogs and house sat for over a week; our elderly pup and our 8 month old puppy. She did such a wonderful job taking care of both the house and dogs. She sent wonderful photos of her walks and play time with the dogs. We are so thankful for her!”

“I contacted Valerie at short notice with a house/pet sitting request; from our first interaction to our last, she was simply awesome! She took great care of my two boys and kept me informed of how they were doing, with pictures and frequent texts. More importantly, she instilled confidence that someone trustworthy, competent and dog-loving was looking after my boys - I had total peace of mind. She not only took great care of my boys she also looked after my home (I swear it looked better than I left it!). Thank you Valerie, I look forward to using you again and again in the future!”

“Audrey was a magnificent dog/house sitter. She was very communitive before during and after by leaving us a wonderful note. Our Aussiedoodle is very active and we spoil her. Audrey seems to have figured out her needs and lovingly fulfilled them. Our home was left just as we left it. She even washed her sheets and remade the bed. We would use her again in a ♡ beat!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Maple Falls walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Maple Falls maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Maple Falls choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
