“Oliver is amazing! He was incredibly patient with my shy, slow to warm dog Tulip. I am super grateful for his friendly professional attentiveness and meeting with us 4x before the actual dog home sit days to get to know her. She bonded after the 5 nights with him. A very heart-warming successful Rover experience. So relieved to have a dependable and local dog sitter. Wr highly recommend Oliver!! 🤍🐶”

“My whole experience with Mona from start to finish was excellent. She came to my home for a meet and greet right away. She is friendly, smart, efficient, kind, and respectful. She had a good sense of humor about dealing with the four spoiled cats. She called it “herding cats”. She took perfect care of my home, and even brought her own sheets and towels! I have already booked her for another stay in July. I give Mona an A++++!”

About: I can't remember a time in my life without pets. I have experience caring for animals of all species and sizes. I am comfortable around most if not all animals and am ready to see to your pets individualized needs :) I am currently between jobs living at my parents house. Because of this, I have lots of free time. I'm generally available any time of day but would prefer 12 hours notice for making sure my schedule aligns with yours. I am prepared to do whatever it takes to make sure you feel comfortable entrusting me with the care of your family members. I recognize that every pet is different, and am adaptable enough to fill specialized needs to make your animal comfortable in their space.
“Lydia is a wonderful and thoughtful pet sitter. She stayed with our cats and guinea pigs over thanksgiving and we will definitely be asking her to watch them again. We received so many adorable updates from her and our house was even cleaner than when we left!”

“I cannot say enough great things about Madison! Because of many factors, we hadn’t left our dog, Doodle, for almost two years, so we were a little nervous. Madison met with us beforehand, asked thoughtful questions, and went over everything (and more) she needed to know to take care of him. While we were away, she went above and beyond—taking him on daily walks, keeping his routine, and caring for him like he was her own. She stayed in touch with pictures and updates, which put our minds completely at ease and allowed us to enjoy our trip without any worry or hesitation. Madison is caring, communicative, and incredibly reliable. Everything about our experience was positive, and we will 100% use her again and recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy to love on their pup!”

“It was the first time using Eliza for overnight sitting and she was fantastic! She kept us updated with pictures and left our house clean after the visit was done. 5/5 and will be using her again :)”

“Karen-Joyce did a wonderful job pet sitting for us on a long weekend trip! She was very detailed in learning about our needs beforehand, and very communicative. It's easy to tell how great she is with dogs. While this was our first time using Karen-Joyce as a sitter, we immediately felt confident after our meet & greet and had no hesitations. She left our house clean and the dogs were happy and well cared for! Definitely recommend :)”

“Daniel was wonderful! My 2 little ones loved staying home and being doted on compared to the kennel. They are glad I discovered Rover and Daniel. He shared pictures and details throughout the day which gave me great peace of mind. Daniel was also respectful of my home. I've already booked him for my next trip!”

“Bianca was outstanding! She house/pet sat for our two dogs while we were away for 10 days. We received daily updates and photos. She let us know details about the dogs and our house was perfect when we returned. Her experience with animals and understanding of behaviors is clear. Would highly recommend her!!”

“Steven was wonderful! He took the time to meet and ask all about Stella’s little quirks prior to me leaving.. and provided me all the updates when I was gone. I came back to a very happy pup!!”

“Campbell did a great job taking car of our 3 pooches. It was great to see the photos of them during their daily walks and getting snuggles. Thanks, Campbell, for helping us feel secure on our trip that our dogs were well cared for!!”

“Chase was fabulous. He took great care of our dog and home, and sent us so many wonderful photos. Having a dog sitter hasn't always been easy for our dog but Chase made it effortless. We will definitely utilize his services again. Peace of mind is priceless. Many thanks!”

“Lis was absolutely fantastic! She took phenomenal care of our 2 dogs and 2 cats and sent the most wonderful daily photos and updates. And she left the house cleaner than when she arrived! Just the BEST and I give her my highest recommendation!”

“I highly recommend Vivienne to anyone who is looking for a trusted and reliable sitter for their fur baby. We were traveling out of town, ended up having delays and Vivienne was more than flexible with the sudden changes and took the best care of our high energy GSP. She is highly responsive, attentive, caring and we couldn't have asked for a better sitter to watch him.”

“David is simply the best! We came to Santa Fe from Denver for a few days (Monday-Thursday) and we have 7 and 8 year old Border Terriers. Our male has epilepsy, and we do not leave him alone, so we hired David to watch them. David came on Monday night, Tuesday day, Tuesday night, Wednesday day and Wednesday night so that we could go out to dinner, go to the spa, etc. He stayed for several hours at a time, which was a big ask, especially since he has his own pup, but we couldn't ask for a better experience with him. He arrived on time or early, walked them, played with them, administered medications, gave them snacks and loved them! He sent us lots of videos and photos and updates, so we knew they were being taken care of and meds given, etc. He is also just a lovely person, and we really enjoyed getting to know him. He has a calming energy which was great for my boy with epilepsy. We won't hesitate to use him again if we go back to Santa Fe. Thank you so much David!”

FAQs for House Sitting - Madrid
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Madrid on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 468 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Madrid. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Madrid walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Madrid maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Madrid choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Madrid. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 92% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
