“Really great experience overall. Whiskey and Sonny came home happy and settled in quickly, which made us feel confident they were well taken care of. We’d definitely book with them again.”

“Yesenia is always our first choice when it comes to our Penny. Shes reliable and flexible and Penny just gets so excited to see her every time she watches her, so we know she’s well taken care of there ❤️ Thank you again Yesenia!”

“Jasmine was a life saver again! Tiana has stayed with her multiple times and every time she comes home she’s a happy pup! I appreciate Jasmine attention to detail and updating me on how Tiana is doing. Would highly recommend her to anyone.”

“I highly recommend Cynthia to watch your dog, did I say highly recommend!!!! We left our dog with a big Company before and he came back sick, so I searched the web and found “Rover”. We were skeptical because we don’t leave our dog and 4 month old puppy with anyone. Cynthia exceeded our expectations, she sent us small videos, pictures, and updates throughout their entire stay 2 and a half days, which allowed us to enjoy ourselves and celebrate with our son. I can’t imagine leaving our fur babies with anyone else now. Cynthia’s husband was very instrumental with their care as well, just a nice family all around and a blessing from God for us. If you want to go out of town, or simply out for the day Cynthia is definitely trustworthy and will take great care of your fur baby. I will suggest her to anyone seeking good quality care for their dog or puppy. Thank you so much Cynthia for caring for Thanos and Thor, and we are thankful that we didn’t have to separate the brothers. Keep shining!”

“Charity and her husband took excellent care of my boy Rip. She was very easy to communicate with and clearly has a heart for the animals in her care. I highly recommend her for any pet care needs. 🐶 🐾”

“Daysha and Jess were wonderful with our 75 pound year-old Shepherd mix. Talla is large, clumsy and excited and they were great with her. They sent us pictures daily, and included Talla on the walks that they took with their dog Harlow. Their backyard is fenced and secure, and we would definitely use them again. Michael W.”

“Dakota was great with our baby girl Gigi! She was patient and really caring! I loved that she sent updates throughout the weekend and lovely pictures. This was Gigis first time without mom and dad and Dakota definitely made her feel right at home. We now have someone we can trust to leave our baby girl with. Thank you so much Dakota 🩷”

“Chelsea was absolutely wonderful. Great communication, knowledgeable, and overall a great person. She made me feel very comfortable with my decision from the get go and she asked many questions to make sure she knew everything about how we take care of our 4 month old puppy Nova. She helped us maintain training with Nova and gave great advice and tips to make the our training journey smoother. She sent many videos and pictures while we were gone. Nova was as happy as could be and well taken care of. I highly recommend Chelsea if you are looking for someone who truly loves dogs in all aspects!”

“As a first time user of Rover, I was super nervous and had so many questions. Raelena was patient and understanding of my first time jitters and took the time to answer all my questions. She was so sweet to our fur baby Nova and took great care of her so that we could go enjoy our weekend out of town. I would absolutely love having Raelena watch Nova for us again. And I truly appreciated the pictures and updates throughout the weekend.”

“Cindy and her family were great! They kept us up to date with everything. They sent pictures periodically throughout the day. Outside of Sheba’s injury, which was no one’s fault, I would use and recommend Cindy.”

“Berkeley and Benny enjoyed their stay with Ariana and Alexander. They looked happy in the pictures during their 12 day stay. Ariana and Alexander take very good care of our boys.”

“Yoshi is truly a dog whisperer. Moxy boarded with Yoshi and her dogs for 4 days. We (and Moxy) knew the minute we met Yoshi and her dogs that the care would be warm and loving. Thanks Yoshi!”

“Laura was fabulous with my Bertha. Bertha had run of the house. She got to run, play with Laura’s child, and get wet in this heat. I got updates and really felt like Bertha was loved and taken care of. I will definitely use Laure and Ryan again in the future.”

“Nathaniel did a splendid job caring for our dogs! He was very kind and responsive to all of my questions. Our dogs were happy when we picked them up. I will definitely use his services again.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Lugo home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Lugo.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Lugo sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
