âDiana did a great job with my elderly dog. She was gentle and calm and knew how to make my dog comfortable while I was gone. Itâs such a relief to find somebody I could trust, especially when your dog is aging and not doing as well.â

About: Iâm a huge animal lover and the type of person who will absolutely stop to say hi to every dog I pass. I truly love caring for animals and making them feel safe, comfortable, loved, and right at home while their owners are away. Iâve been watching dogs and cats for years for friends, family, referrals, and people Iâve met along the way, and I genuinely enjoy every minute of it. Growing up, my family helped with dog rescues â and still do today â so caring for animals has always been a big part of my life. I love getting to know every petâs unique personality. I also have experience with longer-term care and have watched pets for entire summers (up to 3 months at a time), so I understand how important consistency, patience, and trust are when caring for someoneâs furry family member. My goal is always to make your pet feel like theyâre on their own little vacation while youâre away and make sure they are happy, loved, comfortable, and cared for. I know leaving your pet with someone is a big deal, and I pride myself on being reliable, communicative, and someone you can genuinely feel comfortable trusting with your pet. I would be so excited and grateful for the opportunity to meet you and your pet đśđą. I work from home remotely a lot and am able to take full care of your pets on the weekends and most weekdays. It is a hobby/job for me because I love animals so much! I treat everyoneâs pets like my own. Growing up, I had cats, dogs, horses, and every animal you could think of. I would love to have an animal now of my own, but I travel often!
About: I have taken care of various types of dogs, for friends family and my own pets. I love every aspect of an animal and meeting their needs! I am retired, my 4 children are off to college and I have all the time in the world to love your little fur baby! I live in a two-story home with a fence, I have a 25 pound golden doodle that gets a long well with other dogs and would definitely enjoy the company!
âShe was absolutely amazing! From start to finish, she went above and beyond in caring for Sandy as if she were her own. She made sure Sandy got plenty of walks, playtime, and attention, and it was so clear that she genuinely cared about her happiness and well-being. Her daily updates were thoughtful and detailed, always including the sweetest pictures that instantly put my mind at ease. I could tell Sandy felt completely comfortable and loved, which meant the world to me. What truly stood out was her attention to detail and kindness; she didnât just care for Sandy, she also took the time to leave the house exactly as I left it, which was such a thoughtful touch and really showed her professionalism and respect. Itâs rare to find someone who combines reliability, warmth, and genuine compassion so effortlessly. Iâm beyond grateful for the care and love she showed us. It gave me such peace of mind knowing she was in the best hands possible. I would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat and will absolutely be booking with her again â sheâs truly one of a kind!â

âI can highly recommend Kristin! She cared for my 16 year old, deaf, blind in one eye Boston Terrier. She requires 4 sets of eye drops 3 times daily, plus oral medications. Kristin was in my home for 9 days. She communicated daily by texts with photos included. I was able to enjoy 9 days of vacation knowing my home and most importantly my fur baby was being cared for as I would. I will be using Kristin in the future and I would recommend to all my friends and family!â
âI highly recommend Grace! She has great communication with photos and updates every day. She went above and beyond when my flight home was delayed. We will be using Grace again.â

âAlicia connected extremely well with our dog and took great care of him while we left town for the weekend. She was able to administer medicine successfully. She also communicated with us throughout the weekend, sending pictures and updates of how much fun they were having. She stayed the weekend to give our elderly dog extra support and took great care of the house by cleaning up after herself. We are thankful that we met and found someone who is respectful and cares so much for our dog.â
About: I love animals. I grew up with cats and have had both cats and dogs in adulthood. I am experienced with many training styles including clicker training and positive reinforcement techniques. I work from home and get out for walks three times a dayâ hanging with your dog is a bonus! I also have total flexibility and can visit as much as needed. I have a safe environment and am present at almost all times. I will keep your dogs with me, and check in as often as you like.
About: I have always been a pup enthusiast, I grew up with a huge black lab, Luke. He was the best dog ever, Iâd love to take him for walks and play! As an adult I have many dog friends, my sister has the most beautiful pit bull Sadie. Iâll go to her house when Iâm in town and take the dog out, Sadie loves when Iâm around!! My boyfriendâs parents have two massive Great Danes, we walk them and take care of them all the time. I just have a huge heart for all of our four legged friends. Iâve never met a dog that didnât like me. Iâm extremely responsible and cautious while walking and playing. Iâm a bartender so most days Iâm free and would love to spend the off time walking and caring for animals. Exercise for both of us. I am extremely responsible and reliable. Always courteous and respectful. I would care for any animal as if it were my own, and treat them and my surroundings with the upmost respect.
About: I have had pets and cared for them my whole life. Have always enjoyed the love they bring into a home and giving that love back to them. I raised and trained my German Shepard. I have cat sit and walked my dog in various different environments. I work as a RN three days a week. My schedule is different every week but I have flexible availability. I work every other weekend. I walked my Dog 4 times a day around my neighborhood. She is fed twice a day. Both my cats are indoor cats who also get fed twice a day.

âAn enthusiastic 5 stars! Jozafin was a wonderful dog/house sitter, and I am so relieved I was able to find her last minute after another dog sitter cancelled. The thing that speaks most to how wonderful Jozafin was with my dog is the fact that he has never been so calm upon my returning home from a long trip. My dog has separation anxiety and can get quite upset about departures and arrivals. He was excited to see me, but he adjusted quickly and did not act out in some of the typical ways (accidents, chewing things, etc.). While away for a few weeks, I received periodic pictures and updates, and when I needed her to watch for a package or ask her a question, communication was easy and considerate. I came home to a clean house, a happy dog, and a thoughtful note about how the stay had gone and what she had done. Without a doubt, I will be using Jozafin again!â

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 36 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Long Key. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitterâs presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Long Key walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your homeâs security or appliances.
Itâs helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Long Key maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate theyâll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your petâs profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Long Key choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Roverâs commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justiceâs National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
