“If you are looking for a pet sitter who will treat your fur babies like their own, we cannot recommend Kate enough! She watched our dogs and house while we were out of town visiting family and went above and beyond. From managing daily medications to giving endless belly rubs and love, she kept our pups happy and settled. We were able to completely focus on our time with family knowing everything at home was in the safest hands. We are so grateful for Kate and will definitely book again!”

“Trula watched our 2 small dogs for a full week & they were happy and well taken care of. One dog was started on a medication the day before we left, and Trula followed the written instructions without hesitation. We received daily updates & photos. Lily is often grumpy & growls at people, but we received photos with her sitting on Trula's lap, so Trula was able to overcome her moodiness. Trula was also flexible with her departing schedule as I told her the wrong time for our return flight. We appreciated her taking such good care of our dogs.”

“Myrna took care of our babies for almost a month (25 days) ! She kept in good contact, updated us with pictures and even maintained contact with our family while we were out of the country. This is our third time having Myrna house sit, and she is a trusted and reliable pet-care partner. Our five dogs love her and she is neat and tidy!”

“Absolutely fantastic service from Samantha! She house-sat for us and took care of our dog, Dandy, for three nights. Samantha's attention to detail, responsibility, and genuine love for animals truly shone through. We came home to a very happy dog. The daily updates and photos were wonderful, keeping us reassured while we were away. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and will definitely be booking her again in the future. Thank you, Samantha! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟”

“Lindsey was great! He watched my dogs at my house for 5 days and he did an excellent job communicating with us daily, sending pics and updates on the pups. House was clean when we returned. He had good training tips as well. He even covered up our outdoor furniture for us when it started raining, which was much appreciated. I would rebook, dogs seemed very happy with him.”

“Leaving a fearful, reactive Blue Heeler is incredibly stressful- Sydney handled everything flawlessly while house-sitting; during my absence, there happened to be tree trimming which required parking spots to be vacated, chimney inspections, and exterior repairs during hot weather (of course it just HAD to occur during the ONE period I wouldn't be home). She handled everything flawlessly including understanding my dog's triggers, respecting their boundaries during nervous moments, and took the time to build trust safely. Sydney sent fantastic updates and photos, which gave me peace of mind. It’s rare to find someone who truly "gets" herding breeds and reactivity while being patient and gentle. I am so grateful and will absolutely be booking again!”

“Allie took great care of our fur kids while we were on vacation. She asked really good questions before we left and communicating was easy, with quick response. We also appreciated the thoughtful photos/updates about how they were doing! Will definitely rehire for future pet-sitting needs.”

“Simply, Adeline was a perfect pet sitter in pur home. Our little dog is 16 years old and doesn't hear. He also was highly traumatized before we adopted him, so new people make him very agitated. deline was amazing with him. She was kind enough to agree to a pre vacation meetup before our holiday. She listened to our concerns and clearly treated him well. By the time we came home a week later, she was his bestie. Adeline sent us photos periodically with updates and seemed to really care about them, offering to sit for us again in the future. We're so grateful to Adeline for her patience and care; she made it possible for me to relax on vacation knowing they were in good hands. Thank you Adeline!”

“Lucy was well taken care of and loves River. I think River went above and beyond with all the housekeeping and laundry. It is much appreciated 🥰 Already have River rebooked for next month. It’s great peace of mind being able to leave Lucy without worries. Thanks so much River!”

“Freya did a great job making us feel comfortable with our kitty while we were out of town. She was very good at communicating with updates and pictures and kept the house nice and clean. Would definitely recommend”

“Aidan is amazing! Our 2 dogs and 1 cat had a blast (tons of pics). Not only did our pets take to him right away, but he was great about giving our older boy the meds he needs during the day! He kept our house incredibly clean and communicated with us the entire time. We hope he will help us out again in the future. Aiden, if you’re reading this, we want you to come back!”

“Aspen is such a great house sitter! Our pups were well taken care of and given all the overnight cuddles they needed. Thank you so much Aspen for keeping our dogs and our home safe.”

About: I love every pet I've ever met, from my childhood hamsters to my three silly cats - and I already know I love yours! I've had my own kitties for 6 years, and I've been taking care of others' cats, dogs, and small animals for even longer, from playful puppies to grumpy feline queens of the house. I can give most kinds of oral and topical medications comfortably if your pet needs any, and I have a decent amount of behavioral experience with anxious pets. I'm also no stranger to incontinence issues, and am more than happy to scrub any carpet. Bring on the enzyme cleaner! I'm in a transitional period right now, so I am happy to spend as much time with your pet as needed to keep their regular routine. As the owner of more than one anxious cat, I know just how important it is to keep your pet's environment as close to normal as possible while you're gone. I'm more than happy to work with you to make your house as close to routine as possible, from feeding times, play styles, or even someone to pounce on at 3am!
“It was a pleasure having Deborah sit with our 14 year old pup Dexter. Deborah quickly responded to our initial inquiry and met with Dex and I shortly afterwards. She communicated the day before her scheduled sit and arrived promptly at an agreed upon time. She asked all the appropriate questions about feeding, Dexter's daily routine, and what she could do to keep him comfortable during our absence. Deborah communicated during her sit to let us know that all was well. We returned to a happy dog and a tidy house. Would recommend Deborah and we will be using her services again.”

“Shauna was great! The dogs were fed and walked and got some lots of loving. We came home to 2 very happy dogs. It was great we were able.to get such an awesome sitter on short notice and close to a holiday. Very happy to have found Shauna!”

I just recently connected with Kathryn for pet sitting services. She was super quick to respond for a meet and greet to go over my needs in the very near future. She did a great job for the first time! I am grateful for her and will use her again. I highly recommend! Thanks!
Allie took great care of our fur kids while we were on vacation. She asked really good questions before we left and communicating was easy, with quick response. We also appreciated the thoughtful photos/updates about how they were doing! Will definitely rehire for future pet-sitting needs.

We were very happy to have Erin house & dog sit for us while we were gone on a week long vacation. Our dog suffers from separation anxiety, however with Erin she did not have any problems. Erin sent us updates and pictures everyday. Erin made sure our flowers were adequately watered during the extreme heat (100 degree + weather). When we returned home our house was well kept & clean. She even had cupcakes on the counter for us. We highly recommend Erin and she will definitely be our first choice for any future travel plans.

FAQs for House Sitting - Lone Elder
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 4,662 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lone Elder. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lone Elder walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lone Elder maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lone Elder choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lone Elder. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
