“So impressed with Megan and family’s love of animals, of dogs. Seems Mac went for a fun spend over, wagging his tail when he got there, tail still wagging when we picked him up…fun running with Calvin in the backyard, then resting well at night. Thank you very much for the good care, Megan. Best, Peter, Carol Ann, and Mac”

“It was so lovely to get messages and pictures every day from Mary Sue! She is a kind and caring person who clearly loves dogs! You can’t go wrong with using her for your precious pup!”

“Leaving our dog, Mazie with Sandee gives us total peace of mind. She is incredibly reliable and communicative, sending us multiple updates and photos daily. It is comforting to see how happy and relaxed Mazie is in her care. We always return to a happy, healthy dog and feel completely confident that everything is taken care of. We're very grateful that we have found her and highly recommend her to anyone who needs a trustworthy and experienced sitter.”

“Our dog Kaya was completely comfortable with Kelly from the start at our meet and greet. When the day came for Kaya to go to Kelly's she so was excited to be there she didn't care at all when I left. And that made me so at ease with her being there, not one worry at all.”

“Jenna kept me updated with photos throughout Sunny’s stay. She was super responsive from our first contact. I could tell Sunny was relaxed in her home and happy to hang out with her new kitty friend, Boo.”

“Debra was incredibly sweet. This was a last minute booking with the holidays 1-2 days away. Debra was incredibly responsive throughout he process. She took our dog on frequent walks, provided photos/videos and updates how he was doing. Simply put, we couldn’t have asked for more. We’d definitely recommend.”

“Cory was friendly and knew a lot about puppies. We were very comfortable leaving our six month old Finnegan with him. He has a big yard and a fenced in deck. I would bring Finnegan the next time I’m in the area.”

“Nacho is a very selective Chihuahua who immediately adored Nicole. He exhibited none of the signs of anxiety he generally does when he meets someone new (or even someone he has met several times). He accepted Nicole as one of his special people and behaved as well (if not better!) for her than he does at home. Nicole sent us photos of Nacho napping, taking walks and looking completely adorable while he was in her care; we could see how content he was and were able to have peace of mind while we were traveling. Nacho will definitely be staying with Nicole the next time we need a dog sitter.”

“Lacey was amazing with my fur babies, even my 55lbs of crazy lol. They both came home happy and calmer than I even expected, she needs to tell me her secret to calm my crazy girl lol. I will only be using Lacey for my fur babies care in the future!!”

“Couldn’t have asked for a better experience boarding my dog pea. I really appreciated the updates and the quick responses and pea seemed to be very comfortable while she stayed with them”

“10/10 recommend booking Yinali to care for your dog! She was such a joy to work with, from our initial communication on Rover, to the meet-and-greet, to all the thoughtful updates while our dog was staying with her and her husband. Our dog has special needs and uses a wheelchair, which can understandably make some sitters hesitant (and makes it hard for us to find him trustworthy care), but Yinali was incredibly accommodating and attentive to his needs. I knew right away that he was in great hands, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. We would 100% book with Yinali again!”

“Sandra took the time to meet with our dogs prior to boarding, sent several updates throughout their stay, and made me feel comfortable leaving them in her care. Most importantly, my dogs seemed to love her. I plan to come to Sandra for any future boarding needs!”

About: Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I've never been without a pet, so caring for them is second nature. For many years I also volunteered as a foster, which taught me how to help nervous, shy, or recovering animals settle in and feel safe. Professionally, I'm a Registered Nurse. That means I'm comfortable giving oral medications, sticking to precise feeding and medication schedules, and noticing subtle changes in behavior, appetite, or energy that could signal a problem. Senior pets, special-needs pets, and animals recovering from surgery are in especially good hands with me. You'll get detailed updates and photos, and I'll follow your routine exactly as you'd do it yourself. My goal is simple: your pet stays calm and comfortable, and you get real peace of mind. I run my own care consulting business, so I have flexibility in my day and can plan visits around your pet's routine rather than squeezing them in. I keep a structured, organized schedule — a habit from nursing — so feedings, walks, and medications happen on time, every time. I'll confirm availability before each booking so I can give your pet my full attention. Your pet's safety is my top priority. My home has a fully fenced-in yard, so dogs can play, explore, and take potty breaks securely without ever being off-leash in an open area. I share my home with Murphy, my well-trained Goldendoodle. He's gentle and submissive, which makes him an easygoing companion for visiting dogs, including shy or nervous ones. He also has his own crate, so I can give each pet individual time and attention and keep things calm when a guest needs space.
“Brooklyn took amazing care of our pup, Cooper! She kept us updated throughout the entire stay and sent lots of pictures which we really appreciated. We were so grateful that Brooklyn was able to accommodate our last minute request and even make time for a meet and greet before the stay. Cooper loved spending time with Winnie and we felt so relieved knowing that he was in good company and felt right at home. Thank you, Brooklyn!”
“So grateful that he was not only able to take care of my dog Ruby but also my bunny baskoota and the way she was hopping around her cage and eating her hay when I saw her showed that she was living her life. Ruby was so happy being with them and enjoyed her time there. Definitely going to rebook if we go back again to ocean city. Thank you so much!”

“Carley was the best! Excellent communication and willingness to meet our needs and constant feedback about how our peppers was doing. She is great with dogs and we will for sure seek her services again. With Carley, your pet is in great hands! Thanks Carley!”

“Our dog, who can be a wee bit nervous, had such a lovely time with Jeremiah and his family! They were so kind and communicative, and we’ll happily trust them to care for her again. She can’t wait to be back for snuggles with the kids!”

Michele was amazing keeping our dog for 5 days. We have a very needy, anxious, nervous dog and Michele was so great with her. Also, she worked with us to make sure she was safe because of all of her food allergies and accommodated all of her food and treats to keep her healthy. Our dog had so much love while there - it was the best we could ask for in a sitter. I would highly recommend Michele (and her husband).

Kelly was absolutely amazing with Oscar! She made sure he was happy, comfortable, and loved the entire time we were away. She sent us lots of pictures and updates every day, which gave us so much peace of mind. It was clear that Oscar was getting plenty of love and attention. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and would absolutely recommend Kelly!

Susan and Robert took excellent care of Toby, and he had a perfect stay. Toby is high-strung and sometimes has eating issues when stressed; Susan followed our instructions to the letter, adjusted his food, and encouraged him to eat. Her extra patience and attention made all the difference, and he ate throughout his stay. Communication throughout was excellent, with updates and pictures. We highly recommend Robert and Susan!
Debra was incredibly sweet. This was a last minute booking with the holidays 1-2 days away. Debra was incredibly responsive throughout he process. She took our dog on frequent walks, provided photos/videos and updates how he was doing. Simply put, we couldn’t have asked for more. We’d definitely recommend.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Lochwood home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Lochwood.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Lochwood sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in DE ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
