“Stephanie was beyond amazing -- every day she was on-time or early, spent tons of time loving my kitties, and went out of her way to clean even when not asked to so that when we came home from a long trip, it wouldn't be stressful. Will be rebooking with her asap, she made traveling so easy for us.”

“Qianna is awesome when it comes to caring for the pets. I left my 3 cats under her care and I didn't believe my eyes when I came back. My cats were healthy , I could tell they added weight and the environment was well maintained. She went an extra mile to buy food for my cats since she could not reach me by phone. I recommend her over for excellent work. She is passionate about her job, very loving and she knows her job. Thanks Qianna for excellent work 👏”

“Thank you Chloe for the early morning visit! Chloe also came over to get my key and meet the cats before the official visit. There were a couple last minute changes to their care, so I appreciated the flexibility!”

“Emily was an excellent caretaker for our two cats over a long weekend. Amani and Saber warmed up very quickly to her and enjoyed their playtime and pets. Emily always provided updates, twice a day to include photos. Our cats were in great hands which put our minds at ease.”

“Samantha was great! Her communication was excellent and she took lots of cute pictures of my boy enjoying his time with her! I will be contacting her again for any future cat sitting needs!”

“Vivien was great! She took excellent care of my cat, Sonia, giving her lots of treats, playtime, and love. I will definitely rebook with her the next time I’m away.”

“Madison was spectacular with my kitties! Madison provided daily summaries of their visit, as well as daily photos of the kitties. I even had some unexpected packages come in, and Madison brought them inside for me. Definitely recommend Madison for your pet sitting needs!”

About: We adopted my mom’s dog back in 2020, so since then I have had experience living with dogs. I then adopted my dog, Smokey, in 2024. I potty and leash trained Smokey, and also taught him numerous tricks. Then in January, I adopted Canelo, and I was able to leash and potty train him (he is older so he was sort of potty trained), along with teaching him how to use steps! I attend college one day a week, on wednesdays, so I have plenty of time! I would love to care for your pet with all of the free time I have. Whether it’s checking in or walking your dog, I’m able to do it all in the comfort of your home. At your home, I will assure to respect everything and watch over your pet with care! I am able to crate your pet at my home as well, if needed.
“Abbey did an excellent job taking care of my two cats during my 9-day trip. She communicated with me every day she visited, providing updates, photos, and detailed descriptions of how each visit went, which gave me great peace of mind while I was away. One thing that really stood out was her patience with my very shy calico cat. By the end of the stay, my calico had come out of her shell enough to let Abbey pet her, which is something I never expected. I highly recommend Abbey to anyone looking for a reliable, caring pet sitter. I wouldn't hesitate to book her again in the future.”

“Stephanie was my in-house cat sitter for a month. I was super impressed with her thoughtfulness, thorough communication and great attitude. My cat can be moody, but she managed him for the month and gave me regular updates. And she left my house in spotless condition with fresh linens, which was greatly appreciated after a long trip home. She's simply a great sitter.”

“Amelia was great with Pumpernickel! Although, Pump didn't want to show love as much as normal, didn't keep Amelia from trying to bond with her and making sure she was well taken care of! The videos and photos that she sent were an added bonus! Will definitely use again!”

“This was our first time using Suzanne and the Rover app. I was really pleased with how things went. Getting the daily feedback and pictures helped me relax and not worry about my cats while on vacation! One of my scaredy cats even started to warm up to her! We will use her again!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
