“Joan and Tim have taken excellent care of our Boxweiler, Mamas, several times. They have excellent communication and send cute pics! We never have any concerns or worries when she is with them. We can't say enough good things!”

“Erika went above and beyond to accommodate us at short notice, then we were delayed at the border so arrived late, she was great to deal with and Reggie had a wonderful time, one tired and happy little dog! Thanks Erika”

“Absolutely wonderful, the yard is huge Chelsea, was great with Sugar Bear she went along without a backwards glance to mommy. She sent pictures and said she had no problems even though I've had issues with separation anxiety. I would definitely recommend her for taking care of your furry kid.”

“Kona had a great stay at Shannon and David’s! They were welcoming and warm which made Kona very comfortable. Pictures were so cute. He loved the long walks too! We were able to have a great weekend in Ellicottville with no worries. I highly recommend them and would absolutely have Kona stay on our next visit!”

“Jenn was awesome!! She sent pictures of all the adventures our dog had with her. Ducky seems like she has a great time and has been sleeping for days lol.”

“Megan kept me updated on how my dogs were doing and worked very well with my schedule! Was willing to be up early in the morning and dropped the dogs off at my place late with no problem. The dogs came back happy and exhausted showing they had a fun time. I'd definitely book with her again.”

About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember and have been pet-sitting since age 10 for family, friends, and neighbors. I have almost always lived with at least one cat or dog (or both!) throughout my life. I also have experience caring for rabbits, ferrets, gerbils, fish, parakeets, bearded dragons, and cockatiels. I currently live with two indoor tortoiseshell cats who are comfortable with dogs, and one of my cats is leash-trained. I have raised and trained at least 11 dogs from puppies to adulthood (3 as my own and the others for my parents). Most of my cats I adopted as teenagers, but I have raised a few kittens from a young age. I have done extensive dog training with the 3 dogs I raised as my own in the past, and I am familiar with both dog and cat training techniques. I live in a cabin the woods in Boston, NY, on a power line gravel road. Although I do not have a fenced in back yard, your dog will enjoy going on leashed walks down the power line road multiple times per day! I earn a living through a mix of substitute teaching (summer starts June 25th!), remote research and writing gigs, tutoring, child care, and pet care. I have a flexible schedule and incorporate pet care into the mix as much as possible because I love animals. If I am boarding a dog at my home, I will not be house sitting at that time (and vice versa). While boarding or house sitting, I will consider dog walking and drop-ins depending on the needs of the client and driving distance. If you board your dog at my home, my cats and I wake up early (about 6am) and I like to go outside for a walk down the power line road right away, and then eat breakfast. Your dog will be able to spend time with me all day (on a leash when we are outside), and if I need to leave my house, they will be in their crate for no more than 4 hours (2 is my strong preference). We will go for at least one more walk before dinner, too. I will be sure to give them plenty of play time and exercise throughout the day (depending on their level of activity and how hot it is outside). No matter what, they will get a lot of love and attention! I live in a cabin in the woods in the Town of Boston, NY, so although I do not have a fenced-in yard, there is very little traffic or people around. I will be able to go on long leashed walks with your dog down the power line for exercise, and there are a few friendly neighbor dogs that would love to say hello if your dog is up for that. I do live with two cats: one of them will hide a lot while your dog is here, but the other is very dog-friendly and will want to interact with your dog. I will monitor and separate them as needed (I have a spare room). I have always crate-trained my dogs and so long as your dog is comfortable in their crate, I will use it as a safe place for them to be while they are staying with me.

“Jin was wonderful!! She took in both our girls. We have two Rottweilers, both over 100 lbs. they loved Jin, and made themselves right at home at her house. She sent daily pics, and updates on how they were doing. Will definitely be booking Jin again.”

“I can't say enough about Rory D. Her home was clean, neat, and very organized. She had a separate "bedroom" where Gigi would spend the night and relax when other pets were in the house. During her stay Rory gave Gigi the opportunity to meet and forge a friendship with another cat. I was so pleased! Rory followed all care requests. Rory sent pictures and videos of Gigi throughout her stay. Gigi appeared very content and happy. Gigi was well cared for and healthy when I picked her up at the end of her stay. Without any reservation I recommend Rory for pet sitting. She did an excellent job. I will definitely rebook with Rory D. the next time I need pet sitting services.”

“Jenn took care of my 9 yr. old chihuahua Saturday-Sunday. We did a meet and greet at Jenn’s house the Wednesday before. I liked her right away and I could tell she loves animals. This is the first time leaving my pup overnight at someone else’s house. Jenn did an awesome job of taking care of Mia! She also sent me updates of photos and texts. I will definitely be using her again. I highly recommend her!”

“We were very happy with Denae and Mark taking care of our dog Daisy. We received pictures and updates every day letting us know how Daisy was doing. Daisy seemed to settle in quickly and was able to relax on the couch and sleep in bed. She was taken on walks. Denae and Mark have a very nice home and really love dogs! Would definitely recommend and we would use them again!”

“My Golden, Richard, had a lovely time with Karen and her husband! I was very comfortable leaving him with her. I loved all the pictures and videos along with the comforting text messages. They loved on my puppers so much his Golden hair will surely be around forever! I highly recommend the services Karen has to offer! 5 star all the way!”

“Monica was so great! She was super attentive to Auggi, reached out if she noticed anything out of the norm, and did a great job at sending me photos and updates. I don't think my dog wanted to come home with me haha! Will definitely be using Monica again.”

“Mindy was so kind and flexible regarding drop off and pick up. Isabella really loved hanging with Mindy. And even made a new friend with the kitty. Isabella also loved running around in the nice yard”

“Lindsey did a fantastic job watching our goldendoodle. He loved the long daily walks and play time with her cute dog, and I enjoyed the daily updates and pictures. Vacations are much more relaxing when you know your dog is also having a great time. Looking forward to another booking, thanks Lindsey!”

“Jackie was excellent. This is the first time I’ve ever used any type of boarding school for my little guy George. She had asked me every procedure that I do to take care of him and was able to do it with no problem at all. I will be using Jackie in the future. That’s for sure! Thank you so much Jackie.”

Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
