About: I have never lived in a household without pets before, so taking care of cats and dogs (and fish) is something I’ve done my whole life. I’ve owned three black labs and multiple cats over the years. I especially love big dogs, but am a big fan of all animals! Besides Saturdays, I am available any day and any times through the summer. I start law school at the very end of August and will have less availability at that time, but I will still be looking for work! I love to keep my pets active and enriched, whether that means going on a walk, playing fetch in the yard, or going to the beach for a swim!

Ginger really bonded with Grace, the week that Grace stayed with her. Grace took her for car rides, long walks and gave extra special attention at night. The pictures that we received showed how content Ginger was with Grace. Ginger can be some what cautious when meeting new people. However, she took to Grace quite well. We look forward to having Grace take care of Ginger again.

About: Something I think sets me apart from other sitters is my experience working at a doggy-daycare. That environment and the chaos that comes along with it has prepared me to take care of any dog of any size. Likewise, last summer I spent approximately 2 months unofficially training and dog-sitting a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy, so I have experience in taking care of younger dogs as well. I also have a bulldog at home, so I have a deep understanding in what it takes to take care of dogs of that nature. Starting Mid-May I will be interning, so depending on my hours I may be more avaiable in the afternoon or mornings. However, that means I have every Sunday free and would be able to pop-in and out frequently. We have an electric fence for my dog, but she does not wear her collar (classic bulldog) so we make sure she is supervised at all times. I will not let any dogs play unsupervised and would only bring them on agreed upon areas to walk, or anything else owners permit.

Liz was fabulous. I have 5 pets, 3 main Coon cats and 2 yellow labs. They are a handful and Liz was awesome. When I came home from my trip. Our Pet Pod was very happy and chill. Unusual for having a stranger in the house. Liz when above and beyond! I will hire her again and again if she is available

About: I’ve loved dogs since I was young and had several fur-babies as great companions throughout the years. In 2019, I started working with my mom with her dog walking business and I’ve continued to do so since! I love all the dogs I meet, even if it was for one short visit, every dog I’ve met has made a wonderful impression! I look forward to meeting your pup in the future! I am currently in college studying Anthropology but I’ve always had a passion to work with animals. I’ve been pet sitting for over seven years and take my job very seriously! The safety and comfort of every fur-baby I meet is my top priority! I admire and love animals a lot and will always treat every pet I meet as if they were my own. I have a loose schedule to fit walking and visiting pets throughout my day! Potty breaks are important, whether in a fenced in yard or while on a walk. Making sure your pet is safe is my top priority! I can accommodate my time and visit to fit yours and your pets needs!

I could not recommend Shauna more! She stayed at our home with our pup for over a week while we were on vacation and our house and dog could not have been in better hands. She sent wonderful updates/photos and cared for our place as if it were her own. Having someone so responsible while being away made our trip just that much more enjoyable. We can hardly wait to have her back and I know our furry friend agrees! Thank you, Shauna!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Amanda! From the moment I reached out for pet sitting services, I felt an immediate sense of trust and reassurance. She took the time to ask all the right questions about my dogs ensuring that they would receive the best possible care while I was away. During the stay, Amanda provided regular updates and adorable photos that showed how much fun they were having. When I returned home, my dogs were happy, healthy, and clearly had a wonderful time. Amanda went above and beyond by ensuring my house was just as I left it. The attention to detail and the genuine love for dogs was evident in every interaction. I wholeheartedly recommend Amanda to anyone in need of a compassionate and reliable dog sitter. If you're looking for someone you can trust with your furry family member, look no further she is truly the best! I know I’ll be booking her again. Thank you, Amanda, for making both my dogs and I so happy!

About: I have loved every dog I’ve ever met, no matter what they were like. My love for dogs is endless, I have owned multiple in my life and have taken care of many pets from friends and family. I’m also someone who loves to walk, no matter the weather. I would never pass up the opportunity! I would be a perfect fit for your dog 🐶!!! I am currently a college student on winter break, so my schedule is pretty open! I do have a dog of my own to take care of, but other than that I will be very likely to be able to help out you and your dog! I am not currently able to care for any pet at my own home, but I am completely able to go to your home and take care of your dog there! I am super open to whatever needs your dog may have or whatever may be happening at your home. No matter what, I’ll make sure your dog is safe and cared for!

We are so pleased with our first experience having Maddie stay at our home to care for our deaf dog and elderly cat! Maddie checked in with us regularly and our pets and home were just as we left them. Our anxiety prone dog was definitely happier to be home with Maddie than in a kennel. We would definitely recommend using Maddie to care for your pets. We hope she is free next time we go away!

About: I've always loved dogs and cats and felt very passionate about them. I have two years animal shelter experience taking care of dogs and cats. This included feeding several different types of foods and diets to pets, ensuring pets' safety, cleaning cages and kennels, cleaning litter boxes, and taking out dogs into the yard. I am available most days and times every week to care for your pets. I offer mostly drop ins and I do have exceptions like I will be going on vacation this month so just message me within one day to request a booking. I look forward to meeting you and your pets! I pay attention to dogs and cats body languages to ensure their safety needs and emotional needs are met. I let pets come to me first so that they can feel comfortable and safe around me. I treat every pet with respect and if they do not want to say hi yet, that is totally fine with me I will feed them and clean litterbox, etc and they will warm up to me eventually. I watch puppies and young dogs very carefully so that they do not get into trouble and I always make sure the floors are puppy/dog proofed.

FAQs for House Sitting - Kingston

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Kingston on Rover is $85.26 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 2,523 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Kingston. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kingston walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kingston maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kingston choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Kingston. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
