“Such peace of mind to have Candace on pup duty. I know she pampers her own babies and we see she treats the clients the same. While we were away I did not need to give a moment’s thought as to our dogs’ well-being. Greatly appreciated all the detailed updates on the report cards and the added photos that let us know they were getting their personalized attention. Highly recommend Candice!”

About: I have taken care of both dogs and cats from a young age, though cats are a bit newer to me. I frequently house sit and walk for friends and family, and wanted to start extending my services to others as well! I have a german shepherd, a corgi, and a samoyed that I love to play and walk with. I am currently able to provide dog walking or drop in visit services before and after I go to and get off from work! I am super excited to be able to do this I am pretty good at following instructions, so whatever your pet may need I can usually accommodate! Taking walks on their favorite path, playing with them in a fenced yard, crating them back up before I leave, cleaning up any messes, feeding them routinely, etc. Of course I will communicate regularly if you want me to as well, and will definitely ask questions if needed.

About: I specialize in watching kitty’s and small dogs only! I have 3 kitties of my own, 8 years old, 6 years old, and 4 years old! They make my world go round! I have experience with kitties of all personalities and medical needs for 15 years and grew up with a precious chocolate lab! Although I work professionally in the medical field with humans, my heart is attached to our furry friends! I’d be happy to stay as long as you wish and play with your fur baby to ensure they feel some extra love while you are away! I will happily send daily updates, lots of pictures, clean litter boxes, replenish food/water, and love on/play with your fur baby each visit! I will take care of your fur baby as I do my own! About: Hey there! I'm your go-to pet sitter with a decade of experience working with all kinds of furry friends. From dogs to cats, I've got you covered. Need medication administration? No problem! With my expertise, your pets are in safe hands. When I'm not caring for your adorable companions, you can find me enjoying the company of my own two dogs and three cats. And guess what? I've got a fantastic fenced-in yard perfect for playtime! Let's give your pets the love and care they deserve. I’m currently a student at the University of Tennessee so I am available most afternoons and very early mornings. I also am home every evening for the entire night so overnight boarding is available. I am also completely free on weekends so if you want to have a date night, a shopping run, or just need someone to watch your babies while you take a well deserved nap, I got you! At home pets will be taken care of by preference or directions from the pet owner. I have multiple rooms in the house so if there are some older pals or some friends that are just a little more introverted, they will be made to feel as comfortable as possible with some one on one time to avoid over stimulation. I can take them on walks or let them play in the yard alone with my supervision. For those fluffy balls of energy that need more stimulation, my dogs and cats LOVE to play and run to their hearts content! My dogs are very social and have their whole lives experience playing and meeting new animals! Whether it’s playtime and long walks or cuddles and naps I am able to cater to your pets needs so that you can sit back and relax worry free!

About: I have cared for dogs personally for the majority of my life. I also gained professional experience working at a doggie daycare where I got to play and cuddle with a variety of dogs! At the doggie daycare, I learned some helpful methods on how to handle and evaluate a dog’s temperament for a group setting. I’m currently working part-time and am available on the weekends from 12 pm till 11 pm! Due to having classes during the week, my best time to work is the weekends. I live in an apartment complex that is pet friendly and live just down the hill from a dog park. My roommate also has a dog to keep yours company!

About: I’ve volunteered for Young Williams for the past 4 years. Neighbours and family have relied on me to walk, feed, water, play with and train their dogs. I have experience with all sizes of dogs. I currently have full open availability. I’ve available 7 days a week anytime. I have updated my availability on my calendar. Please reach out with any questions. When I walk your dog, they will always be on a leash and watched carefully especially around cars and other dogs. I usually do a run/walk combo to tire the dogs out.

About: I’ve had dogs and cats since I was little and learned the importance of care needed especially with certain breeds. I personally have a Great Pyrenees mix now and he is my whole world. I grew up with Belgian Malinois, Labs, Cane Corsos, and Brindles. I have trained these dogs before and know how to read body language. I have been a dog sitter for even little fur-babies, such as yorkies and chihuahuas🩷 i love to go on long walks and play games with pups. I’m an ER Nurse and work three days a week, overall my pup gets all the attention he needs with the help of my spouse that takes care of him as well. We do long walks every morning and get tons of play time and socializing at public dog parks in the area. I will treat any animal as if it’s my own!! I take extra care of any fur-baby that I can, they are in my opinion our best friends and need to be treated as such. I will take all the time needed to do walks, play fetch, or do some fun training! If the pup is friendly and wants a friend I can even bring my own fur-baby so it’s a play date!

FAQs for Pet Sitting - Kalida

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
