“Trevor has been an incredible sitter for our dog, Odin. He communicates clearly and consistently, keeping us updated and giving us complete peace of mind while we’re away. It’s obvious how much he genuinely cares for Odin, and that love and attention really show. We even had a small pet emergency while we were gone, and Trevor handled it quickly, calmly, and with so much care. We were incredibly grateful knowing Odin was in such capable hands. We feel so lucky to have found Trevor and couldn’t recommend him more highly. Knowing Odin is with someone who truly loves him makes all the difference.”

“Vanessa was amazing while watching my dog Cloud!! I could not have asked for a better sitter. She was open to options to allow Cloud to have the best time with her while I was away on vacation. I also loved that she is a vet tech so I know she has the knowledge and training to do what's best if anything were to happen. I would definitely recommend letting her sit your pup, because she treats them like her own!”
“This was our first visit with Billy. I gave a long list of concerns about our 95lb coonhound and Huskypoo that likes to run away. He came back to walk the dogs later that night and walked into a mess that our pups had created. I'll spare the details, but Billy promptly contacted me that he had 3 dead chickens to clean up (2 inside the house). He didn't call me freaking out, and in turn I would freak out. He text me the info and we talked. He asked for a broom to clean them up. A BROOM?? Billy went went wayyy over the top for us and cleaned up and removed 3 dead chickens before we even got home. I've got a ton of respect for the way he handled the situation and our pups. Needless to say, Billy is our dude now. Thanks, Billy!”
“Kayla was absolutely phenomenal!! Could not have asked for a better pet sitter. She was sooooo sweet with our boys and they absolutely LOVED her & her daughter (which is not typical). The house was absolutely spotless- way better than we left it. She cooked for the boys & kept me updated with photos and daily check ins. I will never not book Kayla when we are out of town. 🤍”

“Kimmie was great!! Kept us updated with daily status and photos. Would definitely recommend if you want peace of mind that your pet will be left in great hands while you are away.”

“Makaelah is a fantastic pet sitter! She stayed in our home with our senior dog for five days while we were away getting married. We came home to a happy, healthy pup and the house was just as we left it, We will definitely ask her to pet sit for us again. Highly recommend ❤️🐾❤️🐾”

About: A safe, clean home away from home, where every dog is treated like family. With lots of love, personalized attention, and help from my loyal German Shepherd, assistant, Lucy, your pup will feel right at home! But sets me apart from others is I can help crate dogs, potty train, to giving them their meds and walking them with a ginger lead for those elderly ones. I am currently working less than part-time. And for me, there’s no better way to spend that free time than with dogs. I also include them in my daily tasks. Every Dog’s comfort level is respected. I have both large and small crates available for dogs who are crate trained or whose owners prefer scheduled crate time (up to 90 minutes per day). I also use an indoor playpen and separate areas within the home to create healthy boundaries. Allow for quiet rest periods and ensure all dogs remain comfortable and safe. My goal is to provide personalized care, maintain each dog routine as closely as possible, and create a calm, loving environment, where pets feel secure, happy and part of the family while you’re away. It might be cliché, but I treat every dog as if it was my own.
“Megan was AMAZING! She went above and beyond while taking care of our sweet boys and the house. We had a family emergency that meant leaving town last minute and it was such a weight off our shoulders knowing that our dogs were being cared for!! HIGHLY recommend booking with Megan- Thank you again!! ❤️”

About: I’ve loved all animals for as long as I can remember. I wanted to be a veterinarian growing up but when I couldn’t reach that goal I became a vet tech instead. After being a tech for 8 years I decided to start my own pet supply business. When I’m not meeting pets at events I love to walk and spend time helping people take the best care of their pets possible. I work full time running my fun traveling pet boutique, in my off time I love to dog walk for exercise and to help Other pet parents that don’t always have the time. I treat every single pet I meet like they are my own. Trust me she’s nothing but spoiled and loved 🥰 I can administer meds, give all the head rubs and belly scratches needed and show all the care for your special furry family member. Every pet deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.
About: Ive head pets my whole life and I am also a mom so I have a lot of patience dealing with teaching and watching over others. I’m currently a stay at home mom so I can watch pets at any time. With time and organization I can watch your pets when needed. I prefer for the pets to be in the owners home and I can take care of them. If needed can also provide a safe space in my own home
“Jessica took very good care of my boys while I was out of the state for several weeks. I’ve never been away from them for so long before so I was very nervous but after a few days of checking on them and getting pictures, I knew they were in good hands with Jessica.”

About: I have always loved dogs ever since I can remember. I got my first dog and started pet-sitting my neighbor's dog when I was 13 years old. I am currently loving on my own two dogs: Remi, an Aussie & Colt, a Blue Heeler. We currently live in our own home with a fenced in backyard and a doggie door to run in and out freely. My dogs are very friendly and want to befriend anyone they meet. Each dog presented with its own challenges ranging from separation anxiety, fear aggression, distrust, claustrophobia, and dominance, to jumping, licking, barking, and nipping. I've learned a lot about dog body language, different training approaches, recognizing individual needs, choosing quality food/treats/toys, and just an overall understanding of canine language.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Joppa walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Joppa maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Joppa choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
