About: I’ve been around pets my entire life, mostly dogs. I’ve owned my own dogs since I was 12, and I currently own a German shepherd and a Coton De Tulear. I consider myself a true animal enthusiast and I believe that caring for them is more than a chore, but something you need to be passionate about to give them the best care they deserve! Starting August 24th, I’m enrolled full-time in college, so I’ll be available M/W - before 1pm and Tu/Th - after 1pm, all day Friday, and no weekends. I can do full-day house visits (no overnights), drop-in’s, and walks. It’s all dependent on what my clients homes are equipped with! If you have a fenced yard and high energy dogs, I’m more than happy to take them outside to play and explore, or play inside. Treats are always an option, as are pets, cuddles, and plenty of love for your fur babies!
“Nora is truly exceptional, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. She took care of my dogs, Lucy and Betty, and went above and beyond in every possible way. During her time with them, an unexpected and serious fight broke out—their first ever—and it was a terrifying situation. Nora handled it with incredible professionalism, calmness, and expertise. She acted immediately, knowing exactly what to do without hesitation, and managed the situation safely and responsibly. I was so grateful she was the one there in that moment. She even had a first aid kit on hand and was able to tend to their wounds right away, which gave me immense peace of mind. What meant just as much was her communication throughout the entire ordeal. She kept me informed every step of the way with clarity, compassion, and reassurance during what was a very scary time for all of us. Her thoughtfulness and transparency made an enormous difference. I trust Nora completely and wholeheartedly. She demonstrated not only skill and preparedness, but genuine care and dedication. Anyone would be incredibly lucky to have her looking after their pets. I would recommend her without hesitation to anyone seeking truly outstanding care for their furbabies.”

“Lee was absolutely fantastic and so thorough! We met first for her to meet the animals and she didn’t shy away from our rambunctious crew, even our larger dog. She kept in great contact with us the whole time and sent amazing, adorable pictures. She even handled a faulty smoke alarm for us. We will definitely book with her again!”

“Once again, Jessie took great care of our dog and cat while we were out of town. We came home to happy and well cared for pets. If you book with Jessie, know that your person are in great hands!”

About: Hi, I'm Brooke! I’m 19 years old and have been around animals my entire life. Growing up, I was never without a pet, and caring for animals has always come naturally to me. My first cat, Hunter Patches, was a huge part of my life before he passed last year. Since then, I’ve welcomed two new cats, Loki and Marie, into my family. I also have a 10 year old rescue dog named Gunner and recently rescued a bearded dragon named Dino. I’m comfortable caring for cats, dogs, and reptiles, and I understand that every animal has their own personality and needs. Friends and family have trusted me to feed, play with, check on, and care for their pets while they’re away. I’m patient, attentive, dependable, and genuinely love spending time with animals of all kinds. Pet care fits naturally into my daily schedule because caring for animals has always been a part of my daily life. I have a flexible routine and enjoy spending time feeding, playing with, walking, and giving attention to pets throughout the week. I will care for your pets like they’re my own by keeping them fed, comfortable, safe, and loved while you’re away. I’ll follow their routines closely, give them plenty of attention and playtime, and make sure they feel calm and cared for in their home environment.
“Maria was incredible to work with. I was nervous to leave my best friend in the care of anyone besides me but my nerves were quickly relieved. Maria took the time to have a meet and greet so he knew her beforehand and also was extremely professional, asking lots of relevant questions to make sure she knew exactly what to do. Frequent photo updates kept me from wondering about him on my vacation. 100% would recommend Maria and I will be using her again”

About: I have cared for my own dog for the past 13 years and sadly he died in February 2025. I walked him around my neighborhood consistently for all those years and now having that routine gone is difficult. Before having him as my own, I also helped take care of my families dog for several years. I am experienced in caring for dogs of all ages and demeanors and all sizes too :) I am attending SUNY Cortland right now and that is the only large barrier in my weekly schedule. I can care and/or walk dogs after 7pm on Monday and Wednesdays. I am available after 4pm on Tuesday and Thursday. Friday and Saturday I can provide care all day with a days notice. Without notice I will most likely be working on Friday and therefore not available until after 4pm that day. I can house-sit on Fridays and Saturdays and into Sunday afternoon as well! I will maintain a safe and calm environment for your pet while caring for them and allow them to initiate any desired games or actions. I am willing to accommodate however you prefer for your dog when caring for them, just let me know of anything necessary :) Any questions or concerns for your dog's care are welcomed and appreciated as I prefer a heads up in advance of anything unusual or to keep an eye out/for. Thanks :)
About: I have experience in wildlife rehabilitation, zookeeping, managing horses. I’m comfortable doing most basic animal care for a variety of animals and happy to learn about anything I haven’t had experience with. Dogs, cats, reptiles, hoofstock, poultry and so on! My schedule is fairly flexible with some notice. Available early mornings, late nights and in between. I am happy to adjust my schedule based on each animal’s routine and needs. I am attentive and observant of each animal’s needs and routines. Happy to follow specific schedules and tasks to adhere to their normal care standards. While I do have a yard, it is unfenced so dogs go out on a leash unless they have exceptional recall. Often joking or walks around the neighborhood. All animal’s are crated or otherwise contained when left alone for short periods and always separated at feeding times.
About: Owning dogs has been nothing but a learning journey. I’ve done dog sitting for years for family and friends. I’ve had my current dog, Raylie, for 6 years now. I am a part time worker at a dental clinic so my hours are normal daytime 9-3 on the days I work. Animals and pets help fill that extra time :) My house is in isolation on 9 acres of land. There is plenty of room in the house for your dog to feel welcome and at home.
“If I could give 10 stars I would. We have an elderly dog, 17 years old. She can't hear and can only see out of one eye. Nicole was very patient with her, making sure she got in and out of the house in the horrible weather we had around the New Year. Our under 1 year old kitten adored Nicole. We were afraid that our pets wouldn't want us to come home! Nicole kept us up to date, sent pictures which were important to my 10 year old daughter, and kept the house nice and tidy. It was so nice to be able to go away and not worry. She also brought in our mail and had the driveway snowblowed! She went above and beyond. Highly recommend!”

“Pam was amazing staying in our home with our Cece (Cavalier King Charles) overnight this weekend. We rarely leave Cece as she goes everywhere with us. Pam came for a meet and greet the week prior to our date, showed up a little early and that gave us time to go over anything either of us needed to, texted us pictures of Cece, and left the house tidy and locked up. Cece clearly loved Pam upon meeting her and was very excited when she returned the following week. Pam is a confident, professional, warm person and we will hopefully be able to have her back the next time we need Cece taken care of.”

About: My family adopted our first puppy when I was 5 years old and I assisted with the training and care of all 3 of our dogs since then. My childhood pal lived to be 16 and I helped take care of him throughout all stages of life. I work a 9 - 5 in person but have plenty availability before and after work for early morning or early evening walks. Weekends and weeknights are no problem for my schedule. Please lay out any specific care instructions for long-term visits so I can ensure that your pet is getting the same care and regimen from me as they would you.
“So grateful for John! Very understanding of the difficulties I had leaving my Luna for the first time like this - sent me multiple texts, pictures and videos assuring me she was doing well and happy. Very flexible with my schedule and made the point to come meet Luna ahead of time on a previous day. Very attentive to Luna's schedule and her specific little quirks. Luna clearly enjoyed her time, giving John a super speed tail wag and some kisses before we left.”

“Our three dogs with very different needs can be a lot to manage (a rambunctious 18 month old, a five year old, and an elder dog in significant decline), and Adriana took great care of all of them simultaneously. She asks the right questions and communicates clearly and quickly to resolve anything that comes up. We could not be happier with how she works with us and cares for Maddie, Olaf, and Otter.”

About: I have always had a way with animals. They seem able to feel the peace and caring in me so that aren’t afraid.I am personable and genuinely care for people and animals . I am 58 years old and have extra time to take care of your pet. I don’t work a full time job anymore so I am available mostly anytime I am needed If you need me to stay in your home to care for your pet, I am respectful of your house and everything within it. I own my house and know the anxiety of leaving someone you don’t know in your home wondering what your home will look like when you get back. Your home will look exactly the same as it did when you left. Possibly even clear than when you left.

“Amanda was great, she keep me up to date with pics on how Lola was doing and what they were up to! My apartment looked fantastic on my return, and Lola looked happy well cared for. I will definitely request Amanda’s services again!”

“We had an excellent experience with Yelitza as dog sitter and would happily book with her again. From the very beginning, she was incredibly communicative, sending frequent updates and lots of photos, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. What impressed us most was how quickly our dogs warmed up to her during the meet and greet. One of our dogs is extremely shy and nervous around new people, so seeing Richard immediately comfortable with our sitter was remarkable and spoke volumes about her calm, caring demeanor. She also went above and beyond throughout the stay. Not only did she take wonderful care of our dogs, but she cleaned up after them without being asked and even brought in packages that arrived while we were away. Those thoughtful extra touches were such a pleasant surprise. We returned home to happy, well-cared-for dogs and felt completely confident that they were in great hands. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, attentive, and genuinely caring pet sitter.”

FAQs for House Sitting - Jacksonville
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 313 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Jacksonville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Jacksonville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Jacksonville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Jacksonville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Jacksonville. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
