“"I wanted to send a huge thank you for taking such amazing care of my dog! I really appreciate you keeping me updated with pics—it made me feel so much better knowing my furry baby was in good hands. You went above and beyond, and I'm so grateful! I can tell my puppy was in good hands just by me picking her up she still went inside her house and said goodbye with a lick to Tasha and that made me feel comfortable. I will so recommend her and I will be coming back to her soon. Thank you 😊”
“Peter and his partner ( I am sorry that I can't remember her name) were sooo friendly and welcoming to us and to OSA! She is a big, friendly, rambunctious dog (a happy handful), but they were able to fit her into the pack easily. We were not worried about her while she was staying with them. We got texts and a picture to let us know how things were going. I highly recommend Peter. I also give high praise for taking her in with no notice!!! Thank you, Peter!!!”
“Vanson and his wife Ella were great. They sent me videos and pictures of our dogs having so much fun. Their home is so comfortable and dog friendly. I highly recommend them to take care of your fur babies!”
“Merilu took wonderful care of our dog. She kept us updated regularly with pictures. This was my first time using Rover and Mercury helped me trust others with the care of our pooch. We have already booked her for a second visit. Thank you!”
“Luis was very accommodating when I requested to meet at the park before my booking and when I needed to drop my dog off a little bit later. He was very easy to talk to, asked a lot of questions about my dog, her habits and what activities she enjoyed (running, hiking, etc) and how much activity she needed. He was very clear on what he needed me to bring for her, which I 100% appreciated! He was very good at providing me with daily updates (including pics and videos). His dog was very friendly and my dog had a lot of fun having a friend to play with. Definitely would book him again.”
“Stephanie is the best! We left our pup with her for 10 days and she had the best time. She is so loving, attentive, and caring. Milly came home happy and with about four new tricks. I know she was well cared for while we were away.”
“Lisa was an excellent caretaker for our two dogs. She and her family treated them like part of the family - maybe even better! We could enjoy our vacation and received the right number of updates and photos while we were gone - Lisa was always available to answer any questions too. I will 1000% rebook with Lisa the next time we need to leave our pups.”
“Stephanie did the most wonderful job looking after my girl Raisin. She sent lots of updates and pictures, I felt totally at ease with Raisin spending a few nights with her. Would absolutely recommend and hope she’s available to look after Raisin again!”
“Raven was amazing with Golden! He was so happy and comfortable with her, and I could tell she genuinely took great care of him. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing he was in good hands while I was away. I would definitely trust Raven with Golden again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter!”
“Kolten and Julia were great pet sitters for our mini schnauzer, Luna! They cared for her as if she were their own dog. They made her feel right at home from the very first moment! They kept us updated on her activities the whole time we were away. We would definitely book future adventures with them!”
“We had great experience with Pratima. This was our first time leaving Chappie for so long( 3 weeks). Pratima would send us videos and Chappie looked so comfortable with her and Ganesh that we completely stopped worrying about him. Thank you Pratima and Ganesh.”
“Arlene, our family appreciates how well you’ve given us Opportunities to attend exceptionally important once in a lifetime remembrance events, such as funerals, weddings & other common events.”
“Karen did an excellent job taking care of our dog Lola. She was really easy to communicate with, made Lola feel totally at home and provided a bunch of pictures. Lola was in a great mood when I picked her up and had clearly been well taken care of. Will be booking with Karen again in the future!”
“Wonderful people. Lily felt very comfortable and so did we. She was well cared for including getting 2 insulin shots a day. Highly recommend!! They are true dog lovers!! Thank you!!”
“Had an absolutely amazing experience having Amanda and Michell watch our Lucy. We’d never left a pet with strangers before, and they couldn’t have made the process more comfortable. Amanda sent daily photos and a brief note on what they did that day. Lucy got to go on many long walks and hikes, and really became part of their family. At the end of her stay, we received a report card on Lucy’s behavior, which was the cutest thing ever. Without hesitation, I’d use Amanda and Michell again, and highly recommend them to anyone needing a pet sitter.”
“Deborah is an amazing dog sitter!! She was very communicative and sent so many daily photos and updates. Our dog was well taken care of and excited to see her again. Thank you Deborah!”
“My Near just returned from an amazing 4 day holiday at Jacqueline's house , filled with all the cuddles from her sweet son, tasty treats (with my permission) and amazing care. I didn't worry one second because I received update messages and pictures in the morning and evening to update me on how Bear slept (in the morning) and how her day was (in the evening). Punctual, loving , excellent communication and receptive. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! Will be rebooking again!!!”
“Justine is the best. Our golden retriever, Louie, has the best time with Justine and her family, and we’ve only had positive experiences and communication is great. Thanks Justine!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Jacksnipe home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Jacksnipe.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Jacksnipe sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
