“Emily was very loving and caring for our dog. The first two days we received pictures and put pretty regularly, I would have liked it if she had done that on the last day. Other than that she is an excellent sitter”

About: I've had dogs, cats and horses my entire life. Rescued several unwanted horses. Recently adopted an Aussie/lab, Macy she's the sweetest dog. I have a cat and a horse. I have raised animals all my life. Currently work Tues-Wed-friday part time in Greenville. I had a2 hrs lunch could do walks on those days in Greenville. On Monday and Thursdays I'm in trufant. I may be available 5 days a week, times vary selecting on my schedule. Also, pet sitting on weekends or for a vacation, in Greenville or trufant area. I walk my dog daily, and my pets get fed twice a day. She is also on some prescription meds that she gets daily. My horse is elder and his molars are gone, so he gets a mash twice a day.
“Annette is the sweetest person! She communicates well, treats our pups like her own, she shows up in a timely manner and took such good care of our home. My pups all loved her! She is the best!!”

About: I’ve taken care of many different fury friends since I was a kid. I have currently have a dog of my own, but enjoy quality time with all animals:) I just graduated PA school and have not found a job yet, so I’m looking to make extra money. I have pretty open availability during the week. I love all animals! I respect all homes and make sure to leave everything better than I found it! I appreciate any tips/tricks to give your animal the best experience possible.

“Couldn't have been happier with how Eileen took care of my fur baby and our home while we were away. She's a true animal lover and respected our schedule for our pup. Highly recommend!”

“Mark is outstanding. Not only did he take great care of my 3 dogs and 2 cats, but he was an excellent communicator. He sent a full written report each day and sent so many pictures. We came home to a clean house and happy pets. He was very helpful when we almost missed our connecting flight and reassured me that he would be there for us if we did miss it. We travel a lot and I will never use another pet sitter if I can help it. Mark took care of my pets like I take care of them and that’s saying a lot bc I’m a bit crazy for my furbabies. Highly recommend!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs ever since I was young. I love dogs unconditionally and love to play with them, I feed them when needed, I can give baths, and I love to take them on walks. My friends and family have relied on me to dog-sit whenever I was available to do so. I’m currently an MSW student and work part time at the moment. Wednesdays and Fridays will typically be completely free all day. Monday, Tuesdays, and Thursdays I work till 5 PM in Grand Rapids. If services are in Newaygo I’m free at 6 PM once I’m back! I LOVE dogs so this is more of a side thing since I just genuinely enjoy playing and taking care of pups :) I have a fenced in yard and a very playful energetic dog. He is very sweet but he is like our baby so we don’t like to bring other dogs in just because he can get jealous and we don’t like to risk it.
About: I’ve taken care of animals for more than half my life. Which has grown into building my own passion serving animals in many ways. I care for animals locally, will travel up to 50 miles, can provide care inside your home, provide walks, give rides to the vet office or groomer, I can give medications, bathe your animal in your home, and I can provide fun fulfilling adventures and activities! With having a flexible schedule I can focus on providing quality care to your pet/pets. 7 days a week with flexible morning, afternoon and evening hours. I’m able to care for pets inside of your home. Rather this needs to be letting them out into a fenced in yard, walking them off property or on property, taking them out of or putting them into a crate/ kennel. Crate cleanup if needed and dog poo cleanup from your yard each time I have a visit.
“Tanya was great! She stayed 1 night with our dogs and our dogs love her! She was very patient with our older dog and sent lots of pics. We didn't really have set times to leave/be back and she was understanding and flexible with us. We will definitely have Tanya come stay with our dogs again! Thank you Tanya!”
“Caroline was great and our dogs loved playing with Gator! We loved the daily check-ins with pictures showing our fur babies having a great time. She took excellent care of our two dogs and our home. The peace of mind she gave us helped us to enjoy our much needed time away. We will definitely use her services again!”

“Lillie watched our two dogs in our home for 3 nights and 4 days. She did an excellent job. She gave updates a couple times a day. She also responded whenever I reached out. We would use her again.”

About: I have 6 years of professional experience in animal care, body language, and handling. My dedication, knowledge, and love that goes into caring for pets are some of my strongest attributes. I care for others pets how I would care for my own! I am “reactive” dog friendly and have the ability to give medications or insulin injections as well, due to my extensive experience. I am currently working part time, so I have plenty of time to make visits to your home to care for your pets. Whether it be a single drop in visit, or multiple. When caring for others pets, supervision is paramount for safety. Your pet’s time with me will be fully supervised during my visits to your home.
About: I have taken care of a few puppies and helped them grow up, stay clean, stay fed and watered, and most importantly stayed entertained. A well entertained puppy/dog stays out of trouble. I currently don't have job so I can be available almost any time of the day. I tend to be a night owl so I can stay as late as need. Your pups will be taken out one at a time (if you have 2 or more), will be exercising and walked, I will follow your feeding schedule and amount per meal, and I am give meds if they are dosed beforehand.
“Christina was responsive, polite, and left our house in perfect condition! She stayed with our dog for a couple nights and sent photos, took her on walks, and kept us updated throughout the weekend! We will definitely plan to have her stay here again.”

About: I can work with dogs that have anxiety and aggressive. And cats too and any other animals. As I love animals of any size big or small Saturday-Sunday I can do anytime Monday-Friday after 2:30pm unless I'm staying in the house sitting and petsitting. Then time doesn't really matter as much then. Environment would be your home as I rent and they don't allow petsitting. Depends if yard is fence area if it is then I will play ball with them.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Howard City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Howard City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Howard City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
