“Grace was a lifesaver for us. My mom's rescue dog Bailey is really skittish around new people, and our planned sitter had to cancel a few weeks out from our vacation. We found Grace and she was a godsend! Came to meet Bailey twice before we went out of town, and you could see that her knowledge of dogs and calm energy helped Bailey to feel comfortable with her. We weren't even out of town before Grace sent a pic showing Bailey sitting next to her on the couch. What a relief for us, and a positive experience for Bailey. Would, and will, hire Grace again with out hesitation!”

About: Me and my siblings grew up taking care of dogs. I’ve grown to love all of our family pets over the years. We’ve taken turns training, feeding, playing, and walking together. Have lots of fond memories! I generally can do most days anytime! Im free five days of the week, and pretty flexible, would love to just be able to help any opportunity. I do the basic things, take walks, feedings, play together, go outside for potty breaks. With my cats I scoop their litter daily, and we play occasionally.
“Karen was awesome! She stayed at the house during the recent snow storm and she went above and beyond. We didn't have to worry about a thing. Beckett was sad to see her go. We will definitely be using her again.”

“Chelsea was so great with our dogs, we have one that can be particularly difficult and she handled her like a dream. Great communication and updates; we will for sure use her again in the future.”

About: I am back from home after graduating with a Masters this summer, so I am excited to come home and go back to dog sitting, what I’ve done since I was in high school! My dog Sammy is always so excited when we go home because she gets to meet new pup friends, and we both love having more dogs around to play with. Sammy is just about the nicest dog you'll ever meet. I've had dogs my whole life, and I love taking care of all animals, rowdy or calm! We have a huge yard (and a very tall fence, so no need to worry if anybody can jump over it!) that we can run in all day, and when we're all tired, we lounge on the couch and relax. Sammy and I take daily walks, and sometimes walk twice a day, which your animal can join in on as well. I take care of pets like they're my own, I just love them so much! My house will be like a home away from home for your pet. I am home working on writing and grading all day for my winter break so I am home the entire day to care for your pup. I will play or snuggle with the pets based on their energy and preferences! They will get treats as often as you tell me to give them (I know some pups are on a diet so I will wait for you to say if it’s okay to give any treats). They will go outside as often as they need and spend all winter inside a warm living room with me and my pup Sammy
“Corinne was fantastic with our dog and two cats. We got lots of pictures and updates and she was very easy to work with throughout the process. We’ve already booked Corinne for our next trip and know the pets and house will be in great hands.”

I got to help clean them, help them to there mother at feeding time, it was an awesome experience for a 9 year old girl. After that I remember watching cockatiels african greys, the neighbors bunny and all sorts of dogs. Around 14 I was baby sitting a little girl and a golden retriever, the same time my sister was volunteering at a vet clinic in port st lucie florida, cleaning cages and bathing dogs. So we were at the start of our learning experience and didnt even know. Meet my pets I have a rescue that I just learned is a superMut (Rottweiler, lab, golden retriever, dalmatian, bulldog, chihuahua mix) don't ask. Lol We have our dog Brutus who is 3 years old and fully trained with tons of other dogs since he was 10 weeks old and our new girl sugar she is a Frenchie. About my yard No fenced in yard but I have a 20ftx30ft fenced area my hubby built for outside time.. my neighborhood is dog friendly. We walk out front and we have a cement back yard that could fit 9 vehicles. The fenced area outside is attached to my basement door which is another living space in the house equipped with a TV the kids watch and have cuddle time 2 sinks a bathroom bedroom and AC in summer central heat in winter. My experience administering medication I do administer meds like heart worm, vitamins, frontliner care or something similar, ear drops ect. Hubby gives insulin shots to both Cats and dogs. I also offer bathing $35 for small dogs $45 for large. Bathing includes full wash, rinse, blow out, deshed (depending on fur) and ear cleaning. Just let me know. 😀 😍 🤩 I want them to feel amazing. Fresh water all the time and on hot days treats in ice cubes! (Wait till you see the treats I make) I typically wake up with the kids around 630AM for school unless I have a dog to let in earlier. Breakfast for doggies is at 830Am after kids... dinner is at 7pm! I have a nice size fenced in dog kennel area with turf in the back yard. We live on a 1 way street. We walk in the front yard or the doggies can go in the kenneled area.
“I don’t even no where to begin to express how grateful I am to have found Erin! My lil dog has extreme separation anxiety and will not let anybody else hold her, including my children, if I’m anywhere nearby. Princess Peanut walked right over to her and plopped down on her lap. Erin is a lovely human being…caring, trustworthy and loves the animals she cares for. ❤️? Thank you, Erin!! Princess Peanut is looking forward to seeing you soon.”

“Joey and Angie were very kind and easy to work with. Joey was respectful of my home, brought in packages and mail, and kept me updated on the dogs while I was away. Communication was good throughout the stay, and it was clear that Joey cared about the dogs’ well-being. Overall, I appreciated the help and care provided during my trip.”

“Brianna was a Godsend to us and our 3 fur babies. Our dogs are 1, 4 and 15 so each has different needs. The old man is on 4 medications 2x a day and is VERY stubborn about taking them. Brianna stayed patient and made sure he took them every time. She sent us updates at least twice a day which always included cute pics❤️. I was so nervous using someone other than family, but her calm and caring demeanor immediately put me at ease. In addition to taking such great care of the dogs, our house looked just as it did when we left.”

“This was my first time using Rover and I am glad that I booked with Cassandra! I was nervous to use the app at first but after meeting her and her family I felt very comfortable leaving my puppy with her while I went out of town. I could tell right away that she is very knowledge about dogs and my puppy Mia loved her and her family! She sent updates and pictures which was really nice as well. I would definitely book with Cassandra again!”
About: I’ve had 2+ dogs in my entire life. In my adult life I’ve had 2+ service dogs that travel with me. I am a critical care nurse who has taken pet CPR as far as safety. I have emergency meds as well. Luckily, I have a house with a fences in yard, animal friendly household with spare rooms and a heated/cooled garage/closed/secured garage for any kind of special separation needs (in heat/aggressive breeds/outside animals, etc). Currently off enjoying a break from work, .. . So as of now, my schedule is very flexible. My household/fenced backyard/garage, is sectioned off pretty nicely. So, I have a very flexible availability overall. I am very positive I can meet most requests/needs for boarding/grooming/daycare/etc. So just let me know! I have a three bedroom house with a fenced in backyard, doggie door, heated/cooled garage that is secure and closed off separate from the house with his own doggie door for added space.. is a very accommodating/adaptable layout also self-sufficient if need be, but I should be here the entire time

“Amanda was great with our three Husky’s. They are all blowing their coats and she did a great job keeping up with the flying fur. Our dogs were so calm and relaxed when we got home, she did a great job of keeping me updated and I didn’t have to worry about whether or not they were well cared for during our vacation!”

“Karie was absolutely wonderful caring for our two dogs while we were away for the weekend. She was always sending photos of the dogs and making sure they were well cared for. We would highly recommend Karie for all of your animal needs!”

“Kaelyn was an incredible sitter! We love our fur babies so much and were nervous when our previous sitter fell through, but Kaelyn was available, professional and made us feel so comfortable. She did a fantastic job taking care of our animals and house sitting despite it being in partial renovations. She is reliable, caring and sent lots of pictures and updates. Thank you for taking care of our babies!”

About: I've had dogs all throughout my life, currently I have a German Shepherd and I recently adopted a Golden Retriever puppy. I've worked in the pet care field in the past as well, and I am comfortable taking care of dogs of any age. I have no issue providing any necessary medication for an elderly pup either. I'm currently available 24/7 for pet care. I keep my pets crated overnight, so I would prefer crate trained pups for any boarding visits, but I am open to discussion on the matter. I do not have a fenced in yard (yet) but I do have a lead in my back yard so your fur babies will have a safe place to go potty and get some exercise. I also have 2 friendly pups for them to play with.
About: I have grow up with multiple dogs of all sizes, ages, and temperaments my whole life and also have cared for others pets for several years! I currently have two fur babies of my own, Mylo and Jazzy, whom I love dearly! Mylo is a cuddly King Charles Spaniel who I have raised from a puppy and Jazzy is a beagle mix who I rescued when she was 3 ! Due to her rough past, she unfortunately has worked through some anxiety issues which has allowed me to become an expert in giving medications and TLC. She is thankfully totally anxiety free now and living her best life! I am looking forward to providing your pups with a PAWsome experience! I am currently working from home which gives me ample time to provide your pets with the care they need! I ideally would like to watch your dogs at my house due to having dogs of my own/ my work set up. When taking care of your pups, they will be continually monitored and provided with the safest environment possible! I would treat your pets like one of my own and provide them with the excellent care they deserve! We have a beautiful back yard for a safe environment for your pups to run and play.

FAQs for House Sitting - Hookstown
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 1,222 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Hookstown. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hookstown walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hookstown maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hookstown choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hookstown. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 91% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
