About: I have hands-on experience working in a veterinary hospital, giving me experience caring for dogs and cats with a variety of needs. I am comfortable with feeding, medications, monitoring behavior, and providing individualized care. I understand how important it is to follow each pet’s routine. I’m especially passionate about making pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I have a flexible schedule and can accommodate a variety of pet care needs throughout the week. I am generally available Monday through Friday outside of my work hours, and I have additional flexibility on Saturdays and Sundays. I typically work around 9 AM–5 PM on weekends, but I’m still available for evening and overnight care. I may also have occasional work on Thursdays, but I will always communicate my availability clearly and make sure I can give your pets the time and attention they need. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. My veterinary experience has taught me the importance of paying attention to changes in behavior, following care instructions carefully, and creating a calm environment for pets. I will treat your home with respect, follow your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, and keep you updated so you can feel confident that your pets are safe and well cared for.

Chelsea did a great job taking care of my animal family! My dog has special needs and she handled them perfectly! Also my dog instantly liked her, he could tell she’s an animal lover and I knew he’d be in good hands. She keeled me posted on how things were going which made it easier while being away! Highly recommend her!❤️😁

Joey and Angie were very kind and easy to work with. Joey was respectful of my home, brought in packages and mail, and kept me updated on the dogs while I was away. Communication was good throughout the stay, and it was clear that Joey cared about the dogs’ well-being. Overall, I appreciated the help and care provided during my trip.

About: Hi! I'm Katie, a certified dog groomer, dog trainer, and lifelong animal lover. I've worked with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments, including puppies, seniors, and dogs that need a little extra patience and understanding. I have experience with: • Dog walking • Drop-in visits • Overnight pet sitting • Multi-pet households • Basic medication administration • Feeding and maintaining routines • Training reinforcement and enrichment I know how important it is to trust the person caring for your pets. I'll make sure they are safe, comfortable, loved, and treated like family while you're away. I provide regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your pets are in good hands. Pet care is already a big part of my daily life. As a dog trainer and groomer, I spend much of my time caring for animals, and I have dogs of my own as well. My flexible schedule allows me to provide walks, drop-in visits, overnight care, and plenty of one-on-one attention throughout the week. Because working with animals is both my profession and my passion, caring for pets fits naturally into my routine. I'm a professional dog trainer with six dogs of my own, so caring for animals is a big part of my everyday life. All of my dogs are socialized and get along well with other dogs. I have a fully fenced yard for safe outdoor play and exercise, and because I make my own schedule, I'm able to be flexible and provide plenty of attention and supervision throughout the day. When caring for pets in my home, they are treated like family. They receive regular potty breaks, exercise, enrichment, playtime, and lots of affection. When caring for pets in a client's home, I follow their normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, and any special instructions. I also provide updates and photos so owners can feel confident their pets are safe, happy, and well cared for. As someone who works professionally with dogs and even takes my own dogs to work with me, I understand how important trust, consistency, and positive care are for every pet.

About: I’ve had 2+ dogs in my entire life. In my adult life I’ve had 2+ service dogs that travel with me. I am a critical care nurse who has taken pet CPR as far as safety. I have emergency meds as well. Luckily, I have a house with a fences in yard, animal friendly household with spare rooms and a heated/cooled garage/closed/secured garage for any kind of special separation needs (in heat/aggressive breeds/outside animals, etc). Currently off enjoying a break from work, .. . So as of now, my schedule is very flexible. My household/fenced backyard/garage, is sectioned off pretty nicely. So, I have a very flexible availability overall. I am very positive I can meet most requests/needs for boarding/grooming/daycare/etc. So just let me know! I have a three bedroom house with a fenced in backyard, doggie door, heated/cooled garage that is secure and closed off separate from the house with his own doggie door for added space.. is a very accommodating/adaptable layout also self-sufficient if need be, but I should be here the entire time

Amanda was great with our three Husky’s. They are all blowing their coats and she did a great job keeping up with the flying fur. Our dogs were so calm and relaxed when we got home, she did a great job of keeping me updated and I didn’t have to worry about whether or not they were well cared for during our vacation!

About: Ever since I can remember I’ve been around animals! When I was born, there were cats and a dog in the house. I was responsible for my own dog, a brindle boxer, from the age of twelve, and took great care of her, cleaning up after her, and taking her for runs and walks all the time. Before her, my family had a golden retriever that we loved with all our hearts. I even had four turtles from the age of 7 through 19. I’ve got plenty of experience taking care of animals! I currently have a variable schedule where I work two to three days a week, some days 3-4 hours, sometimes the whole day from 8-3pm. It just depends. However, even on the full days I have time during lunch for quick puppy bathroom breaks, and plenty of time after work for walks or runs. I can crate your pup if needed, and I live in an apartment complex with a little dog park if they need some socializing! In regards to walks, I usually do these in the evening once it starts to cool down a bit so the fur babies don’t overheat. I can take them on short runs too so they can get all the exercise they’d need!

About: I have owned dogs and cats since 1985 and was on a K9 Search and Rescue team for 18+ years so I have worked with all types of dogs and have a lot of experience with training. I currently work outside the home M-F 9-5 but can work from home upon request. Weekends I am home the majority of the time and spend most of my time hanging out with my own dogs (two labs) I have hosted a variety of dogs in my home including corgis, labs, goldens, frenchies, pitties, mals, and other assorted breeds. I treat everyone's pets just like my own - lots of treats, snuggles, couch naps, and of course sleeping on the bed if they want. Both of my labs are extremely friendly and love pretty much all dogs, but I do have experience sitting some dogs who preferred to be separate from my boys via either baby gates or kennels (depending on what the dog is comfortable with). I have a large fenced in backyard and a smaller fenced in front yard. The backyard has a doggie door that allows the dogs to go in and out at will, although when I am not home, I do not give any dogs access to the yard (even my own dogs as a safety issue).

About: I’ve had animals since birth. Large and small dogs, many, many cats, and even a few caged animals. I cared for my last dog for 16 years and have experience with senior care because of him, including medication and mobility help and he was 100lbs+. I love animals of all kinds, I’ve worked for a stable where we took care of 30+ horses per day, and as you can see from my photos I gravitate towards all sorts of animals even goats, alligators, and llamas! I work part time but have weird hours so I can also help with weird hours. I have 3 days off every week and have open availability on those days, the other days I’m available before or after work. I’m not available for care in my own home. However when I am in your home I will treat it even better then I do my own. I will take care of your animals just like I would my own and give them the proper attention and care they need and deserve, especially tailored to how you want things done.

She always sent plenty of photos every day and communicated with us throughout our vacation. FAQs for House Sitting - Fairhaven

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 1,119 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Fairhaven. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fairhaven walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fairhaven maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fairhaven choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fairhaven. On Rover:

  • 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 91% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
