“Rebooked Emily to drop in on our cats for a couple days while we were on a short road trip. She thankfully accepted our last minute sitter request. As usual, she was very good at communicating, following our instructions, and sending us photos of our babies. We will definitely book again!”

“She was wonderful with my husky! Spirit is a rescue with a mostly unknown past. She is usually in "Stranger Danger" mode but while she was definitely not happy Lilliana managed to gain her trust and get her bathed with little drama. I am so thankful that Lilliana answered my request.”

“Shawne was great she followed all instructions, cleaned up any messes, and was very easy to get a hold of. For the 30 minute drop-ins she stayed for a little over an hour (maybe that was 30 mins per dog, but it was great!) She sent a report card for each drop-in which showed the path of their walk, if the dogs went to the bathroom, and included multiple pics of the dogs. I would definitely recommend!”

“Duke was well taken care of by Aubrey and he got plenty of play time. Duke made up to Aubrey very quickly at the meet and greet which let me known he would be happy to spend time with her!”

“Chelsea is top notch! She was available for us last minute and exceeded our expectations. She was great with communication and even sent us adorable photos of our pup to ensure he was well taken care of. We will definitely be returning to her for our future needs!”

“Natasha did a great job watching my three cats while I was out of town recently. Communication was on point, she did as I asked in regards to feeding them, and genuinely seemed to care about my fur kids. Would definitely recommend.”

About: I’ve had dogs my whole life and love all breeds. We truly don’t deserve them. My soul dog, Abo, passed away 1.5 years ago and I have been watching and walking dogs for extra money ever since. I’m a college professor working a very flexible schedule and I’d love to walk or watch your dog! I live on the east side of Beverly Shores and also have a place in the city 🌆. I’m down to house sit or watch them at my place. I have local references and would love to meet your dog if I haven’t already 😊 I’m teaching part-time this term, so I have plenty of time to walk your dogs, give them some love, tell them they are good dogs, get some fresh air, exercise and sunshine. ☀️ When I board a dog it is all about them! They are basically on vacation having the best time and getting all the attention and affection they want. 🙂

“Timothy is very prompt, patient, and thorough with his drop in visits. Showed up on time and made sure to hit all his items on the punch list I gave him. My dog can be very excitable and he was very patient with her. I was very worried about leaving my babygirl with a stranger and he put all my worries at ease. I will definitely be using Timothy in the future.”

I visit clients’ pets before I start my work day and return directly afterward to ensure they stay on their regular schedule. I also handle medication when needed, maintain clean litter boxes, and pay close attention to their overall well-being. My goal is to make every pet feel secure, comfortable, and loved while their family is away.
About: Growing up, my dog Roxy was one of my best friends. That’s the root of my love of our four legged friends. I’ve also cherished opportunities I’ve had to take care of my neighbors, friends and families pets over the years as well. Whether it’s just been for walks around the block or dog sitting for weeks at a time, I’ve been a trusted source of canine companionship. In addition to these experiences, my work as an RN has given me confidence and a level headed mindset when dealing with stressful and difficult situations. Big dogs, small dogs, doesn’t matter I just want to be your dogs new best friend! I’m currently working a flexible schedule which allows me to take time for your pet! Depending on the day I’ll be avail as morning, noon or night and am free most weekends! I live in a pet friendly home with a fenced in backyard and plenty of space to run around! About: I've grown up living with dogs and have been the primary trainer for my family's dogs. I do pretty well working with new pets and can handle full size dogs. I'm an engineer who gets home from work around 4 or 5PM. My weekends are empty 3/4 weekends a month. I can do overnights on Sunday and during the work week if your dog is used to being alone 9-5. I have a small yard, and live next to the beach. I typically walk my dog to the beach 2-3 times a day on the weekend and she swims often. I usually use a harness to walk dogs, never leave them unattended outside since I have no fence. Make sure they have food twice a day and water always full.
“Leanne was great with our 2 cats. I was able to text her while I was away, & that allowed me to enjoy my trip more because I knew the cats were being taken care of. The cats really loved her; our shy one came right up to her! She even gave them treats & brought in our mail. Great job!!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
