“Alyssa is so so so special!! She took care of my pups while I was traveling for work and it was a great experience for me and for them! She communicates very well and kept me updated about them, took great care of the house and when I came back, I could see how relax and happy my pups were, which means the world to me!”

“Sierra was super responsive and was great about sending us updates at the end of the day as well as kept our house clean and spotless! would definitely recommend her for anyone’s dog sitting needs!”

“Meredith was great! She met them a couple of times before we left, which really helped our older dog with anxiety. She connected so well with the pups. She kept us informed with pictures and videos, so we knew our pups were in good hands. She treated our home with care, too, which was appreciated. We would happily book with Meredith again!”

“Caitlyn took great care of my fur babies. She also house sat too. I felt very comfortable with her staying. It was great to come home and know my pets and my home had been taken care of. I would highly recommend Caitlyn and would definitely use her again.”

About: I have been the go to in my family for watching animals. Everyone has different ways they live and our animals find comfort in routine. I have always done my best to meet them where they are and ensure their animals feel as comfortable as possible while the parents are away. I currently work full-time, so my availability is a bit thin. Overall I work approximately 10hrs a day. Which means I am only available early mornings and late evenings on work days. I have my own pets but my husband takes care of their needs while I'm not around. We aren't in a position to watch pets in our own home but outside of the time I need to work I am very flexible with my time. I do not offer boarding services. However, when taking care of another's pet before the service date(s) I gather as much info as I can. What is their routine? how much energy does your pet have? Etc. And I will do my best to accommodate. I try to take my own dogg out about every 2-4hrs and give her lots of love and attention. If yous animal has different needs from meds to high attention or even more frequent potty breaks I can work with those factors.
About: Hi there! I’ve had pets my entire life and currently have a 6 year old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix, so I’m no stranger to high energy dogs that need structure, exercise, and plenty of mental stimulation. Through caring for my own dog and helping friends and family with theirs over the years, I’ve gained experience with everything from daily walks and feeding routines to enrichment, playtime, and providing extra patience for anxious or reactive pups. I genuinely enjoy getting to know each pet’s personality and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. One of the perks of working freelance is having a flexible schedule! That means I can often accommodate daytime walks, drop-ins, and last-minute requests. I love spending time with animals, so getting to care for pets throughout my week is something I genuinely enjoy. When caring for pets in a client’s home, my goal is to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while maintaining their normal routine as much as possible. I’ve been trusted by friends and mutual friends to care for both their homes and pets over the years, so I understand how important that trust is and don’t take it lightly. I treat every home with respect, provide regular updates, and strive to give pet parents peace of mind while they’re away.
“heidi is a great dog sitter. we love having her in our home. she is exceptionally clean and goes above and beyond. she always sends many pictures and updates throughout the day which we love!!! she has always been available even under very short notice. we love heidi and will continue to always book her!”

“Nick is always so great with the animals and a huge help! He's very friendly, goes above and beyond, and the animals enjoy spending time with him. If you're looking for a trustworthy and flexible petsitter - Nick is your guy!”

About: Hey hey! I love all animals but I'm partial to dogs. I have 2 of my own, both chihuahuas. They're 6 and 7 years old. I've had pets all my life. Large and small. I have quite a bit of experience in training and I love working on puppy manners. I have a soft spot for small dogs and pit bulls! I can't wait to meet your babies! I currently am home full time. I am a hobby bakery. I need to get moving around more so I'm available to meet up to 2-3 times per day every day and weekly if needed. I don't usually care for other people's pets in my home. I prefer to do drop in visits and sit in the home of the owners.
“Nicole stayed with our fur baby while we were out of the country and she did a great job! She followed our instructions and made sure our pup was well cared for. I highly recommend her services!”

“Mardi did an incredible job taking care of our cats and home while we were away for a week! She followed our instructions perfectly, sent regular updates and photos, and left our house in even better condition than when she arrived. I’m usually a little anxious about leaving the cats when we travel, but I was able to relax and enjoy our trip knowing everything was safe in her hands. I will absolutely book her again the next time we need a cat sitter!”

“Samantha did a great job dog sitting for us for seven days. She took excellent care of our two dogs, kept us updated with pictures, and left our home just as clean as we left it. We highly recommend her and would gladly use her again!”
“Paris was very responsive to my questions, comments, and requests. I appreciated the care she gave my dogs. They are pretty independent but having someone there to keep them company and watch the house while I am gone gives me peace of mind while I am traveling.”
About: Hi! I'm Julie! While new to the pet/housesitting world, I have taken care of dogs, cats and horses since childhood. I've also been a human caregiver. I'm a retired RN of 35+ years who also worked in veterinary medicine as a vet assistant for 5 years. My love of animals has persuaded me to pursue a career of providing care to your furry family members. My preferred fur clientele would be mature adult/senior small dogs or cats (kittens or adults) who prefer to stay in their own familiar surroundings. As the mom of a special needs dog (epilepsy) I'm well versed in giving medications and providing seizure care. With owner direction and observation of administration, I would feel comfortable administering injections. Whether your pet is into sedate leash walks, snuggles, belly rubs or prefers self entertainment with toys or observing the outside world, I'm happy to oblige. My schedule is generally very flexible and my goal is to take care of your fur babies and your home as if they were my own. I'm currently working as a contract nurse and am able to set my schedule on a monthly basis. This allows flexibility for your sitting needs. I have 3 furry family members of my own. I have 2 standard poodles inside and a tuxedo longhaired cat that's in and out. All have been spayed and receive regular vet care. One of the poodles is special needs due to epilepsy and is on multiple medications daily to prevent seizures. I will care for your pet in your home as if they were my own.
About: My experience comes from the real thing. I've cared for my friend's Greater Swiss Mountain Dog for weeks at a time, solo — handling walks, feeding, and everything in between. That's a big, strong dog, and keeping up with one builds genuine confidence. What I bring to every dog I sit is simple: I pay close attention. I take time to learn how a dog communicates, what makes them comfortable, and what they need to feel settled. Every dog has a personality, and I think it matters to actually get to know it. My approach is kind but calm and confident — dogs pick up on that quickly. I have a flexible schedule, which means I'm not rushing in and out. Your dog gets real time and real attention, not just the basics checked off a list. Pet care fits naturally into my current routine. I have a genuinely flexible schedule, which means I'm not squeezing your dog in around a packed day. I can be present, attentive, and available when it matters. When I'm in your home, I follow your lead. You know your dog and your space better than anyone, so I start by listening to your routines, your preferences, and any specific needs your pet has. I don't come in with a one-size-fits-all approach. I treat every home and every animal with respect. That means sticking to your dog's established routine as closely as possible, keeping the environment calm, and paying attention to how your pet is feeling throughout my time with them. My goal is simple: your dog should feel like not much has changed, just that a calm, attentive person is there with them.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hightowers
Sarah was fantastic and I’m so glad we found her to take care of our pups (2 big pit mixes)! When I’ve taken them to boarding previously I could tell that they were stressed by the experience and would often have GI issues in coming home. When we got back after Sarah watched them this past weekend I was honestly a little sad they weren’t more excited to have me home. They seemed so calm and well taken care of, I got daily updates and photos, and I will add that Sarah was an impeccable house guest too! We will definitely be booking with her again!

Sarah did such a fantastic job of taking care of our dog son. She kept us updated with pictures throughout the stay and honestly he probably would have preferred to leave with her based on his reaction when we got home. I’d highly recommend Sarah for any future dog sitting jobs!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hightowers walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hightowers maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hightowers choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hightowers. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
