Christina was incredibly attentive and sent us many pictures of our dog while he was boarding with her. She kept us updated about how he was doing and what he was eating, and made sure to give him all the attention he needed. I do not have enough words to say how incredible Jessica was with my anxious corgi, Nugget! She was so attentive to his command words, what makes him nervous/comfortable and she even thought of things I hadn’t considered to make him feel comfortable there. She most definitely treated him like her own and he absolutely adores her! (And he is not fond of many people) she was wonderful about sending updates and keeping us connected while we were away. My sweet little boy absolutely loves her and we will be coming back soon!

Starr was fantastic! My dog is diabetic which requires an insulin injection twice a day. He recently had eye surgery which requires pain meds and eye drops several times a day. She was amazing! She sent photos and messages several times a day showing how he was doing. That reassured me and I was not worried about him so I enjoyed my vacation even more. I have already recommended Starr to two of my friends. I would definitely use her services again!

About: Hi, thank you so much for stopping by to read through my profile. I have loved and taken care of friend’s and family’s dogs for years. Big, small, medium, even tempered, wild, mellow- I absolutely love them all. I have a 12 year old lab, who has slowed down a lot. She is my everything. I find something about raising a dog from a young pup to an aging one, so very special and rewarding. If your dog is fast paced or likes to smell every blade of grass, I’m game. Rain, shine, or snow, I’m available. I’d absolutely appreciate it if you gave me the opportunity to spoil your dog, not just walk or watch. I understand these are your babies. My house is set up well with a fenced in back yard and lots of attention and love offered. Let me know what questions or concerns you might have! I work Monday-Friday, I am usually free in the evenings and off on Thursdays typically. I’m free on most holidays(so keep that in mind).** I am free on most weekends. ** My job is flexible, 12 mins away, making it easy to drop by my house throughout the day. My house is open and I have a great fenced in area. Your dog will be spoiled rotten over here. Lots of pets and attention. I also know how important a walk is to a dog, it’s the highlight of their day! We’d make the most of it.

This was my first time needing a sitter and I was pretty nervous about it. I've never had to leave my sweet boy anywhere other than the vet for a day. Carol was very accommodating. She allowed me to see where he would be, answered any questions I had and sent pictures to me to assure me he was ok. I was grateful for that. That helped ease my mind. I would definitely use her again if it should become necessary again. She's awesome!!

About: I have had a dog for 8 years and am considering adopting a sibling. This will be a great way to not only find some wonderful new doggy friends and families but to also acclimate my dog to having another dog in the house. I have a large fenced in yard and am home on weekends so my dog and I would welcome some company! I work full time during the week and am in the office 3 days so I work from home on Fridays and have weekends free! I have a fenced in yard and friendly dog who would love some company. I do also have a crate so can crate your pup as well or they can sleep in a bed, on the couch, wherever they are comfortable!

We left our 3 dogs for 6 nights with Sarah for the first time recently for a cruise. Sarah was great as 2 of our dogs are on medication and one dog also has epilepsy. She put our mind at ease as she was able to care for their special needs and she sent us photos and updates. Our dogs must have had a good time and well cared for as my Shih Tzu kept trying to run back in our house when we were trying to leave! :) Would use Sarah again. 100%.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Highland

Tammy watched our English mastiff over the weekend and it seems to have went really well. He came back exhausted from getting to play with some of the other dogs. We have taken him to overnight kennels before and he comes back home and just seems sad like he was locked in a cage all weekend. Tammy allowed him to be out and get to enjoy playing and being around other dogs. We will definitely be contacting her again when we need him to be watched again. Thank you Tammy.

Every sitter on Rover has their own rhythm and routine, but most will follow the flow that keeps your dog happiest. Sitters can give meals on your dog's regular schedule, provide a comfortable place for sleep, and plenty of one-on-one attention.

95% of Highland sitters also include daily walks in the neighborhood during dog boarding stays. You can also request photo and message updates throughout the stay so you can see which Highland landmarks or neighborhoods your dog is enjoying.

If your dog is a little shy, consider booking a one-night trial stay! This practice run can boost your and your dog’s confidence before your trip.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Highland home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Highland.

Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

You and your Highland sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
