“Hana was a great doggie Mamma when we were away for a week. The dogs looked happy and in spite of very hot weather they got in their exercise and usual stimulation and cuddles. Thank you Hana!!!”

“Kathleen did a wonderful job with our dog, Tucker, while we were away for almost a week. We got regular pictures, videos and updates and felt very comfortable leaving him with her for the first time. He had a nice, big house to stay in, a large yard to play in and doggie friends to play with. We will definitely be booking again.”

“I could not recommend Meena enough! She took wonderful care of my two dogs for 7 days. One of our dogs is a rescue with separation anxiety and insecurity. It took him 2-3 days to settle in, and unfortunately he also bit her at one point. Despite this, Meena remained patient and kind, and communicated promptly with me about the situation. By the end of the stay, he was comfortable and followed her around everywhere. Our other dog also had a great time as he came back calm and happy. I'd trust her with my dogs again without hesitation and recommend her highly to anyone.”

“April was so flexible and great with our gigantic puppy. Her setup is perfect with a small pool in the back that he had the best time playing in! She’s very caring, communicative, and so great with the dogs!”

“Emily is the best pet sitter! Has good communication and takes care of dogs like they are her own. She sent adorable pictures of both of my dogs everyday with an update. When I picked them up I knew they had a great time and been in great hands. I’d definitely book Emily again!”

“Juan was amazing and flexible… I really appreciated his service and that of Rover. It was my first time using the app and saved me in a pinch. I had to fly and found Juan who was available last minute and came through. My brother dipped off and picked up the dog and said nothing but good things about Juan. Thanks buddy… definitely recommend and will be using him and Rover in the future.”

“We couldn’t be happier with the incredible care Winnie provided for our dog while we were away! From the very first meet & greet, it was clear how much love and experience she brings to every visit. Our pups (who can be a bit anxious with new people) warmed up to her instantly and was always so excited to see her. Winnie went way above and beyond—daily photo and video updates that made us feel completely at ease, extra playtime and walks, and she even sent little “good morning” messages with pictures of our dog happily wagging his tail. She followed our detailed instructions perfectly, kept their routine consistent, and made sure they got plenty of cuddles and mental stimulation. She’s reliable, communicative, professional, and truly treats every dog like her own. If you’re looking for someone who will give your furry family member the absolute best care, she is the best. Thank you so much, Winnie! We’ll be requesting you for every future trip. 🐾❤️”

“Nutan & Garrett were great! They were fast responders & easily accessible. I was sent pics & videos throughout my dog's 9 day stay & he always looked so happy in them. He also came home happy & looked well taken care of. He was even walked & given a bath even though I didn't ask them to do that, which was great! I'm always careful with who I leave my dog with because he's a big Doberman, but they did a great job with him.”

“As Always, Megan is Great with our dogs!! they Love their visit and always are well Looked after (as if they were Her family). This was our 4th trip, and we know we don't have to worry for our next trip. Thank You!”

“Christine and Rodney were awesome! They were able to help at the last minute when our house sitter had an emergency. We don’t board our dog much, so the steady stream of pics and videos really helped us feel comfortable. Will definitely use them again!”

About: My mother raised me alongside a puppy in an area dense with wildlife. Along with our growing dog, we often had rodents, birds, or stray cats to take care of. In high school I took care of mice, and owned two sets of rats. The dog I was raised with passed at age 20, and I am experienced in taking care of senior pup needs. I'm currently working part time, and my ideal days to hang out with your pets are Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This will be the case until college starts again in the fall. I have a fenced in home as well as lots of access to pet supplies. I love all parts of animal care, whether it be active play or just snuggling on the couch. Having a senior dog, I am also experienced in handling minor medical situations.
“Amanda was awesome! Highly recommend. We have a young husky and senior Shih Tzu that is very needy and can be a bit much. She and her family did great with both of our dogs. We received daily updates and pics and videos. Which we appreciated as this was the first time leaving them. Our husky is a rescue and can be very skittish but somehow she didn’t have an issue with Amanda. Will definitely be leaving our dogs with her again.”

“For years, I have struggled with what to do with my cat and dog when I need to leave time. My usual solution was to have someone check on them at my house. The last time I did that, a good friend told me she would check in on them. But the five days I was gone, I never see her on my Ring camera checking on them, despite her claims she did. Then a friend told me that Rover has pet sitters who will watch your pets at their house. That’s how I found Janice and Darrell, the best pet sitters I have ever used. From the moment I met them, I could tell they genuinely love animals. They are also very knowledgeable about caring for dogs and cats and immediately felt comfortable leaving Sunny and Rosie with them for a week. While I was gone, they sent me updates and photos how they were doing. My pets looked happy and content, which made my own vacation more enjoyable and stress free. When I returned to pick them up, they had prepared a report on how they did while I was gone. Plus certificates for them! It was such a sweet touch! Even though both my dog and cat are senior pets, I finally have a solution on who will watch them if i have to leave town again! Jan and Darrell are the best! I am so glad I discovered their pet sitting services! I highly recommend them to others!”

About: I’ve worked professionally in pet boarding & daycare for 2 years, including at Holiday Pet Hotel & at Tale of the Dog. In addition, I’ve been pet sitting since I was young, caring for dogs, cats, lizards, birds, & other small animals. My kennel experience has given me a ton of knowledge of dog behavior, body language, & safe handling techniques. Whether it’s walking, feeding, bathing, or giving extra playtime, I make sure each pup/kitty feels safe, comfortable, & loved! I am currently a student at UCR studying biology (pre-vet) but my schedule is very flexible. I plan my schedule carefully around the pets I’m caring for to make sure they get consistent attention, exercise, & care. I’m reliable with routines & always make time for walks, feeding, & spending quality time with each pet! I provide in-home care so your pets can stay comfortable in their own space. With kennel & pet sitting experience, I know how to handle different breeds & personalities. I’ll stick to their normal routine, give them lots of attention, & make sure they’re happy while you’re away :)

“This was the first time we used Rover, and it was the first time that we ever left our dog with anybody. I was a little nervous, but I was more than pleased with the way everything was handled. They treated her the same as we would have treated her ourselves. She came back, happy healthy and I would not hesitate to use them again. Thank you Martin for an outstanding job.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Highgrove
We had such a great experience with Kristina! This was our first time using Rover and our first time ever having someone else take care of Mochi, so naturally we were a little nervous. Kristina went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and reassured the entire time She constantly sent us pictures and videos, kept us updated, took Mochi on walks, and was always super responsive whenever we checked in. It was so nice being able to see how happy and well cared for Mochi was while we were away We’re so happy we chose Kristina and would absolutely book with her again! We highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone who will love and care for their pup like their own

Rutvi is absolute magic with dogs! We left our puppy with her for a week, and she treated her like her own child. Our pup is naturally introverted and slow to make friends, but Rutvi was so patient and even helped socialize her with her own dog and cats. Whenever our puppy felt a little down, Rutvi went out of her way to keep her entertained and well-fed. The daily photo and video updates brought us so much joy and complete peace of mind while we were away. I recommend her dog boarding and sitting services 1000%!

Words can not express the care and love my Honda receives from my personal " Dog Whisperer." She's amazing and love her colorful personality. She's a KEEPER. Krystal, thank you so very much for taking care of me and my Honda. She's very good at day by day pictures and communication. Makes me feel good to know my baby is always in good hands 🥰

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Highgrove home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Highgrove.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Highgrove sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
