We booked Erika for drop in visits while we were out of town for 10 days and could not have been more pleased. She stayed in touch by sending messages and pictures and I was able to enjoy our trip more knowing she was there taking care of things. She went above and beyond by getting our very shy dog Sherpa to become her friend. I highly recommend her to anyone wanting peace of mind while they are away.

About: I have three dogs, two wonderful twin golden retrievers that are 5 years old. They are my whole world and so are my sister and brother’s dogs/cats! My sister has been doing rover in KC for over 7 years so it’s been a great way to experience rover and the necessities for all kinds of pets. Additionally, I’ve been a volunteer at Unchained Melodies puppy nursery and KC Pet Project for the last few years <3 I’m currently a post-graduate student preparing for medical school here in a year so I have a lot of time for longer term pups. I’m preparing for work part-time as well in the fall but I have a very open and flexible schedule. I have helped dog sit for years now and of course I’ve taken care of my own dogs since they were just babies. Unfortunately, I’m unable, for the most part, to have animals stay at my house however, I’m open if necessary. I walk and feed my own dogs daily and they take a lot of space so I want them to feel comfortable in their own environment.

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs and cats for 5 years. I’m experienced with pets of all kinds. Newborn and elderly pets, healthy and sick pets, small and large pets. I’m used to dogs who are untrained and can handle pets on the wild side. I’m a full time student at UMKC, and have classes two days a week. The longest stretch of time the pets would be alone would be about three to four hours. My schedule is flexible other than my class times, and can accommodate your pets needs. My services offer taking care of your pets in their homes, so they feel as comfortable as possible while you’re away. I can fit my schedule around your pet, letting them stick to their normal routines.

About: My name is Neha, I’m a recent pharmacy graduate who is looking to find some amazing, cute pets to sit! I don’t have any pets, so I am eager to take every opportunity that I can to look after some cute fur babies! I am very kind, responsible, understanding, and will work with you! Although I do not have any pets, my desire is to have my own pet in a few years after I am more settled down! Taking care of your pets would give me the opportunity to experience what having a pet is like and all the responsibilities that come along with it. I love dogs of any shape or size. 🐾 I am currently not working and am just using my time to study for my upcoming pharmacy board exams from home. Pet sitting would give me some excitement to look forward to in my usual day to day routine. I make sure to follow the schedule as laid out by the pets owners. I will also continue to ask questions and provide updates regarding the pets to owners.

About: Throughout my life, I've been deeply immersed in caring for animals, particularly dogs and more recently, cats. Growing up, dogs have been a constant presence in my household, from nurturing puppies to tenderly supporting elderly dogs in their final stages. This journey included responsibilities like changing diapers and ensuring their comfort, reflecting my commitment to their well-being throughout their lives. Seven years ago, I expanded my animal family by welcoming my first cat into our home, a decision that has enriched my life beyond measure. Currently, I share my home with two cats and a lively two-year-old dog, each bringing their unique joy and companionship. When it comes to caring for animals, my approach varies based on their needs. For elderly dogs and all cats, I prioritize providing them comfort and support in their own familiar environment, ensuring their days arr still filled with love and care. On the other hand, for dogs that still revel in the company of their peers and enjoy playtime, I eagerly open my doors to host them, providing a safe and welcoming environment. Overall, my experience with animals has taught me the importance of patience, compassion, and adaptability in meeting their diverse needs. It's a privilege to share my life with these wonderful creatures and to provide them with the care and love they deserve. I work from home most days, and so does my partner. I can ensure there is continued care and commitment offered to your furry companion. In your own home, I can work to ensure the same routine your furry companion is used to is maintained. In my home, they will have the opportunity to play with my in house dog, visit the dog park every afternoon, with a long evening walk, and short walks throughout the workday.

About: I’ve also had guinea pigs and rabbits and birds and goats. I love all animals and am happy to care for them no matter what shape or size. They all deserve love and attention and as long as I have solid instructions then I got it covered and they’ll feel like they’re my own babies. I’m currently unemployed. I’m getting certified to sell insurance and am home. I have two children in pre school and elementary school and the extra money would help a lot in this transitional period. I can happily come to your home and give your animals all the love they need. I’m in an apartment so coming to my home isn’t available currently but I can do check-ins or extended stays at your home depending on what you need.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Higginsville. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
