About: I’ve been taking care of dogs since I was 13 years old. I have one dog named Zeus who is like a child to me and one cat named Tito who I also adore! Sometimes I think I like animals more than people😂. Animals always love me and I always treat them like my own:)) I currently do not work so my schedule is always open no matter what time or day of the week! I’m free almost all the time:)) I have an open yard with a long chain I use for potty breaks or outdoor play time! We also have many neighbor dogs who love to make new friends! All of my neighbor dogs play together and get along great with my dog.
About: I’ve learned and taken on responsibilities caring for animals, specifically dogs, at a young age. Nacho, my past rescue dog, lived to be about 15 years of age. He needed quite a lot of care in his old age, including joint supplements, pimobendan for his heart, and other treatments. I currently have two cats named Kirby and Sam. I would love to have a dog, but my living situation doesn’t allow currently for the quality of life they deserve. I work full-time as an aesthetician, but with some days off, so if you need a day or a time that you don’t see we may be able to work something out:) I ensure a clean environment with no hazardous materials around, ample enrichment, and all the love humanly possible. Full of healthy food and treats obviously🤪
About: I’ve had my own dog for 12 years, and have been working with dogs for years at a doggy daycare! I love to hang out, play with them, and ensure they’re happy and well taken care of!😁 I have lots of space for them to play, an awesome family who helps and a nice neighborhood to take them on walks as well! Comfortable, spacious, clean and loving environment!😁 I currently already work with dogs part-time at the dog stop (doggy daycare)! I have my own pup as well, and have plenty of time any day of the week for dogs to board! I have a spacious and clean home for them to play and hang out in, a nice big yard and a great neighborhood for walks! 😁 in a clients home as well as my own.. I’ll spend lots of time hanging with, playing with and keeping them company! Take them for walks, give them a nice big bed with a warm blanket, get them nice clean water and lots of love and comfort! 😁I’m also good at reading dog behavior and body language, and can calmly attend to whatever they need!

About: I have had dogs my whole life, and have experience with both small and large dog care. Experience giving medication to dogs. I also enjoy taking dogs for walks.. I currently work part-time, but can arrange pet care around my work schedule. I am a recent high school graduate and will be going to college in the fall, but can be available from time to time to sit. I’m a lifelong dog lover, I’ve never known a time in my life where I haven’t had a dog as a pet. I treat my dogs like my siblings and would do the same for any dog I’m caring for.
“Brittanie was fantastic! She worked with our crazy travel schedule and even brought some special treats for our pets. Charley and Kilo were so glad to have someone checking on them and doing walks and we were just so happy to have found someone we can trust with our pets. We also really appreciated the photo updates she sent and that she kept the lines of communication constatnly open. We'll definitely be using her again!”

About: I have a natural talent for taking care of dogs and walking them with patience and confidence. Whether it’s making sure they’re well-fed, groomed, or simply happy, I pay attention to their needs and treat them with genuine care. On walks, im calm but in control, keeping the dogs safe while letting them explore and enjoy their surroundings. Dogs respond well to your energy, and it’s clear that I build trust with them quickly. My love for animals make me someone dogs—and their owners—can rely on. I work part time and am available most days of the week to walk or house sit. I also am available on the weekends to take care of dogs. I stick closely to the pet’s usual schedule for feeding, walks, playtime, and rest. Pets thrive on routine. I make sure the home is pet-proofed. Remove harmful items, secure doors and gates, and ensure the pet has access to clean water, a cozy sleeping area, and toys.

About: I have been watching our neighbors and family friend’s dogs and doing drop-ins since I was little. My family has also had a dog since I was in highschool. I take him on walks every evening and am responsible for feeding and letting him out when my family is out of town. As well as my sisters dog when she stays with us. I am available throughout the day to do drop-in’s, go on walks or spend time with them at home throughout the day. Aside from a random day I have plans, my schedule is very flexible. I have a dog I take on walks at home and enjoy being outside with. As well as playing/throwing their toys or sitting together at home.
“Karie was absolutely wonderful caring for our two dogs while we were away for the weekend. She was always sending photos of the dogs and making sure they were well cared for. We would highly recommend Karie for all of your animal needs!”

About: I’ve taken care of animals all my life. Starting with my own when I was younger. Occasionally I would watch my family and friends pets. My animals are family. I’m currently working as bartender and starting up with my massage therapy career. While my daughter is in day care I’d love to spend more time doing something I enjoy like caring for animals. I can easily take your animals for a walk or play with them at your home. At the moment my home isn’t equipped for animals.
“Bea did a great job housesitting for me and looking after my two big shy rescue dogs for a week. The dogs seemed happy and healthy when I got home and the house was in great shape. Bea provided daily pics and updates and was prompt in her replies. Overall a great experience and I hope to be able to work with her again!”

“If you’ve read Brianna’s profile, you’ll know how detail oriented she is. This talent of hers really shines through in her work with animals. I was so impressed that she arranged a meet and greet to come to us and spend time with our little Boston ahead of spending the day with him. We loved her energy and the way she immediately connected with Brinkley. He is an anxious little dog, and she was able to expertly navigate that and make him and us very comfortable. We were so pleased we are planning to book her for several upcoming trips in addition to training for Brinkley that she and her partner will both provide. Such a gem, really happy to have connected with Bri.”

“We could not have had a better experience working with Jarett. It was our first long trip away from Oliver, and he went above and beyond not only to make sure Oliver was taken care of, but that we were updated often. Thanks to Jarett, we were able to relax on vacation and come home to a happy pup and our house exactly as we left it.”

“Lindsey was awesome! Incredibly communicative and sent lots of sweet photos of our gals. They were wonderfully cared for and were very happy. Would absolutely book again!”

“Kristie was so wonderful. She was extremely attentive to my dog's needs, gave him a lot of attention, and he very clearly loved her from the pictures she sent. She consistently sent photos of the routes they walked on Google maps to show that she'd made sure Franklin was given enough exercise and stimulation, which I really appreciated. I would absolutely book her again!”

“Chelsea was so great with our dogs, we have one that can be particularly difficult and she handled her like a dream. Great communication and updates; we will for sure use her again in the future.”

About: I’ve been caring for animals for over 10 years, with the majority of my hands-on experience in the last five years. I currently care for my own dog, Layla, and have also fostered, so I’m comfortable working with different temperaments, routines, and energy levels. I’ve potty trained three dogs, including my own, a foster dog, and a puppy I raised for about six months before transitioning him to my parents. That experience gave me a strong understanding of consistency, structure, and reinforcing good habits. I’ve provided both boarding and in-home pet sitting for multiple households, including homes with multiple dogs and homes with both dogs and cats. Whether pets are staying with me or I’m caring for them in their own home, I focus on keeping their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I understand how important consistency, patience, and communication are while owners are away. I’m reliable, attentive, and communicative throughout stays, and I treat every pet like my own. My dog Layla may accompany me during some house sitting stays depending on the pets and circumstances. She is friendly, social, and has done very well with other dogs during previous stays. I work full-time during weekdays, so I’m typically out of the home for about 9 hours during the day. Pets in my care should be comfortable with that schedule, and I make sure they are exercised, settled, and comfortable before I leave, with plenty of attention, walks, and interaction when I return home. On weekends, I’m much more available and hands-on, which allows for extra walks, playtime, enrichment, and cuddle time. Whether I’m boarding, doing daycare, or staying in a client’s home, I aim to maintain each pet’s normal routine as closely as possible so they feel comfortable and secure. I provide a safe, clean, and structured environment where pets can feel comfortable and secure. I take time to learn each pet’s personality, routine, behavior, and specific needs so I can provide consistent care and maintain the environment they’re used to. I live in an apartment with multiple grassy areas nearby for walks and bathroom breaks, along with an on-site dog park for additional exercise and enrichment. I tailor activity levels to each dog’s age, energy level, and comfort. I’m experienced with dogs of different temperaments and can reinforce routines such as feeding schedules, crate training, potty habits, and calm household behavior if needed. Whether pets are staying in my home or I’m caring for them in theirs, I prioritize safety, communication, cleanliness, and creating a calm environment where pets can relax and feel at home.

FAQs for House Sitting - Hickory
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 1,405 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Hickory. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hickory walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hickory maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hickory choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 91% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
