“Very last minute had availability for us and overall great experience! Great and fast communication and updates with pictures. Will definitely book again ❤️”

“I was so pleased with the services provided by Amber while watching my little one. She interacted with her wonderfully and gave her lots and lots of attention. Amber kept me updated with pictures and messages and I feel truly comfortable with leaving my dog with her, and I look forward to the next opportunity.”

“I booked day care for my daughter's dog Gunner for the entire day on 4/4. I met with Kathryn and Teddy a few days before leaving him at her house and felt good about the upcoming visit afterwards. Kathryn sent me multiple photos during the day which I truly appreciated. It was great to be able to leave him somewhere I felt would allow him to be less anxious as Kathryn let me bring his pet bed and pillow which he uses regularly at home. He also has multiple small feedings through the day which she gave him. The fenced in yard she has is huge! I'm grateful to have a place I can take Gunner where I will feel I can take care of any business at hand with no worries about leaving him.”

“Nicole is an excellent caring host. She has a wonderful large grassy backyard with a big tree providing shade and has a pack of nice regulars that are all easygoing . Overall it was an excellent experience for Cookie.”

About: My prior experiences include working in an emergency veterinary hospital, exotic specialty department and a general practice hospital. I have over a decade of veterinary professional experience. I have experience with cats, dogs, birds, small mammals, and reptiles and have CPR training. I’m a SAHM currently so I am available all days and many holidays. I do have a small daughter that I bring with me when needed but we avoid contact with pets as much as possible. I have a 0.5 acre of land for your pets to play in as well as a safe neighborhood to do walks in. I will be home all day when pets are day boarding or staying.
“Samuel loves going to see Rosemarie. He runs straight up to the door in the morning. I know he's being left in good hands. Rosemarie always communicates several times a day by sending pictures and giving me updates on how the day is going. Reliability is a huge thing for me and I never have to worry. When we book with her, she always comes through. She also communicates clearly what her availability is and keeps me updated on future dates she may not be available. I appreciate her so much. If you need a sitter that your animal will love and you can feel more than comfortable leaving them with, Rosemarie is the one!!”

“Michelle was AMAZING! We have a 3 month old puppy and she was truly incredible with him. We got tons of updates and lots of pictures and videos. I highly recommend using Michelle to watch your fur baby - I will definitely be using her again!”

“Dexter had a good time as usual with Sydney and of course she provided plenty of pics and videos during the day. So glad we found a place where Dexter is so comfortable. Definitely will be having her watch him again.”

“This was my second time taking back my pup after a great first experience. Same exact level of care as the first time. Would definitely recommend to anybody in the Columbus area. Luna is gonna miss you!!”

About: I have been watching since I was 20 years old. I watched friends dogs, siblings dogs and I used to have a Jack Russell beagle mix. His name was Milo. I work Monday through Friday, but I drove a truck. I’m on the road all day so I have the ability to come home. Check on the animals play with them. Feed them walk them throughout the day. I usually get off at 4 PM. No matter if I’m in some ways home or the animals are at my house I love to go out for walks with dogs and play with pets in general pet them. Let them sit on my life and just spend time with them so they never feel lonely.
“Cindy was great! Communicated and was very flexible with pick up and drop off. Sent pics and took great care of our dog Penny. We will continue to use Cindy in the future for our girl!”

About: I previously owned a dog walking and pet-sitting business for over four years, and I absolutely loved it! I walked dogs that ranged from 1-16 years of age, and administered oral medication and provided insulin to diabetic dogs. I have also fostered dogs four separate times, ages ranging from 1-6 years. I have 4 years of exotic animal care experience as well! I work from home full time on a very flexible schedule. I can move my daily plans around to fit your needs, and will update my availability to include changes ASAP. There is one other dog and two friendly cats in the home. My partner is experienced in animal husbandry and loves pets just as much as me. We are sure to give them plenty of love, patience, and attention! I can take furry friends on extra walks if requested, and I can send you pictures throughout your pets' stay!
“Amazing care as always. Ube was wagging his tail and didn't even look back at me when I dropped him off for daycare the last time. He is enjoying the pets and all his time in the backyard. ☺️”

“Mary was fantastic and took such good care of Archie! He played HARD with another puppy there and slept like a baby when he got home. He had so much fun! Thank you for watching him!”

“Alec and Aishu, and their lovely dog Winnie, looked after my girl Nova beautifully. She can be a little skittish at first in unfamiliar situations, but she soon settled down and relaxed! She had an amazing time exploring, going for a long walk and playing with her new pal. I appreciated that photos were sent throughout the day.”

About: Hi neighbors! I’m a calm, reliable, and patient pet caregiver based right across from Westgate Park. I work from home, which means your pet gets consistent attention, steady routines, and a peaceful environment—not just a quick visit and a rush out the door. I have cared for dogs, cats, and small animals for over 40 years, and I’m especially comfortable with senior pets and those needing extra support, including insulin injections and attentive monitoring. Whether your pet is full of energy or prefers a slower pace, I adapt to their rhythm. My home includes a fenced-in backyard for safe outdoor time, and I’m steps away from the park for enriching walks. For drop-ins and walks, I focus on keeping your pet’s routine consistent, stress-free, and genuinely enjoyable. At home, I’m kept company by my senior dog Elle J, who has taught me a lot about gentle companionship, and an “adopted” outdoor cat, Alistair, who stops by like he owns the place (which, honestly, he might). If you’re looking for someone dependable, attentive, and genuinely invested in your pet’s wellbeing, I’d love to help. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine since I work from home and have a flexible schedule. I’m available for morning, midday, and evening visits, making it easy to accommodate walks, feedings, and check-ins throughout the day. Living directly across from Westgate Park also allows me to provide consistent, enriching walks without travel delays. Because I’m already home throughout the day, I can offer reliable timing, attentive care, and flexibility for pets who need more frequent visits or a steady routine. Safety and trust are at the core of how I care for every pet. In a client’s home, I follow your pet’s established routine closely to minimize stress, including feeding schedules, exercise, and any medical needs such as medications or insulin injections. I take time to understand each pet’s behavior, triggers, and comfort level to ensure a calm and positive experience. In my home, pets benefit from a quiet, low-stress environment with a fenced-in backyard for safe outdoor time and close supervision throughout the day. I maintain a clean, secure space and introduce new environments gradually to ensure pets feel comfortable and safe. Whether in your home or mine, my approach is always patient, attentive, and focused on your pet’s wellbeing.
“Annie was wonderful with our 5 month old puppy! Mochi can be a handful, but she did a great job making sure he had the best time and gave lots of updates. Her pup was a great playmate for Mochi ☺️ We’ll definitely be booking her again!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 634 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Harrisburg. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Harrisburg commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in OH ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 634 sitters in Harrisburg, 86% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
