“Tabatha is amazing! She did a great job taking care of Eevee for the week and watching the home. She kept me updated with pictures and responded so quickly to messages.”

About: I have taken care of cats for at least 20 years now. I would love to help someone out by taking care of their cats when they cannot. I am retired so I would have a lot of time to take care of your cat or keep them company for a while. I love fur babies. I have three indoor cats and one outdoor cat that comes in to eat and sleep. They get plenty of attention. I would love to add more Cat friends to have fun with.
About: Good with all kinds of dogs! Love to play with any dog and cuddle all types of fur babies! Good with ones with a lot of energy! Currently in college but make my own schedule! Can be open to anything!! Have breaks during my days to come over and check-in with your fur babies! I have a big fenced in yard to run around in, also have a little dog to give some company and play with! Can create whenever, but also has free range of the house
About: I've been around cats and dogs my whole life, but started taking care of dogs around the time I was 12 and moreso with cats around 13. We adopted a dog when I was 12 and I fed her, walked her, bathed her, taught her tricks, played with her, we'd even cuddle! We fostered a dog from a hoarder and had another dog after the loss of the last one and I continued to repeat the cycle with this big crazy whippersnapper! Where I was working part-time just closed for the season, so I have plenty of free time for playing with your pups and kitties!!! When I'm not in school, I'll be taking care of my pets and helping my mom out with them around the house, she does Rover too and recommended I get on it. For drop ins, I like to meet the pet first and learn about their likes and dislikes and where to find all of their things. I like to ask questions on how to make sure they feel most comfortable with a new person and try to follow that advice to make sure they feel their best. For walks, I like to get an idea of where they like to walk and any behaviors I can expect while walking them before we head out on our adventure!
About: Hi I’m Olivia and I love taking care of dogs and cats! I am 22 and currently a student at Penn State. I have 4 cats of my own and love to be around animals. I have been dog and cat sitting for almost six years now and I absolutely love doing it! I enjoy taking care of pets of all ages and love to run and walk with dogs as well. I’m great with younger pets that have a lot of energy as well as older ones who are more relaxed. I’m very responsible and reliable and take pet sitting very seriously. I will give your pet much needed love and attention while you are away or unable to be there for them! When I’m home on breaks or holidays I’m available pretty much whenever! I will always keep my availability up to date and will work with clients to fit their needs. When caring for pets in my clients home I always respect the pet’s space first. I’m coming into their home and want to make the pets feel comfortable.

“Kayla was absolutely wonderful. I was able to enjoy my vacation knowing that Bella was in such good hands. I received frequent updates and pictures. I truly can't say enough good things about the care Bella received.”

“This is the second time Gabrielle has stayed in our home and cared for our 4 pets (2 dogs, 2 cats). We could not be more pleased with the care our pets received. It was evident that Gabrielle attended both to their safety and physical needs, as well as giving them lots of love and cuddles. Gabrielle was communicative with us during her stay and our home was in pristine condition upon our return. We hope Gabrielle is able to support our family again in the future!”

About: I have loved and taken care of pets all of my life. Currently, I have a 7 year old pit mix named Hoagie. I am willing to do pretty much anything to keep a pet happy and healthy! My own pets are spoiled rotten. My family has fostered and rescued all sorts of animals ranging from puppies to squirrels and even deer. Growing up I had goats, chickens, rabbits, ducks, geese, turtles and fish along with cats and dogs. I am comfortable with any age or size dog and any sort of other animal there is. I also worked at Petsmart for some time and was trained in pet care and safety. My entire life I have had dogs and all sorts of other pets and there’s nothing that makes me happier than making their little tails wag. I am currently working full time out of the Quakertown area. Mon-Fri I typically work 8-5pm. Sat & Sun are open. I am available for drop ins and walks any day before or after those times. On my off days, I am available any time. Keeping a close eye on your pet while you’re away is of the up most importance. If your pet needs crating, training or just to get some energy out, I want to make sure it’s in a safe and enjoyable environment.

“He met with us with little lead time, when I was tight on needing a new sitter. My dog was immediately comfortable with him. He was proactive with letting me know of any issues. A huge plus was his flexibility to work with my schedule.”

About: Im currently a Certified Veterinary Technician. I take care of animals every day with love and compassion. I’m excited to take care of animals in a more fun setting with everyone in our community. I work full time. Pet care would be part time. I’d like to treat the pet sitting similar to most scheduled people who have pets. Typically I would attend my day job and afterwords spend all of the time with your beloved pets. Arriving directly to your pet and making sure they are taken care of. Food, water, potty, ect. I’ve cared for pets in my home by allowing them the leisure of napping, play time, and potty breaks when it’s time . I like to allow pets to just be themselves. I like to also make sure they are monitored when I am present. For dogs during a house sitting I recommend a crate or special area your pet can be that is safe. I usually house sit at the same time as working my day job. During those times your pet will be alone and will need a safe area to be if I am not currently present.
“Amelia was Amazing! She gave up updates every day on how Maddie was doing and was very responsive to texts. Our minds were at ease during our vacation and allowed us to relax and enjoy the trip knowing that Maddie was in good hands! We'll definitely recommend and have her over again!”

Ilene was amazing and took great care of our 2 dogs and cat while we were out of town for the weekend. Our dogs can be a little wary of new people, but warmed up to Ilene right away. We appreciated the updates and communication and would definitely rebook with Ilene again in the future!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 1,720 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Harlem. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Harlem walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Harlem maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Harlem choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Harlem. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
