“I could not have asked for a better dog sitter! From the very beginning, Shanae was professional, dependable, and incredibly caring with my dog. It was clear that she truly loves animals and treats them like family. I received regular updates, photos, and messages, which gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. My dog was happy, well cared for, and comfortable the entire time. Shanae went above and beyond to make sure all routines, feeding schedules, walks, and playtime were handled perfectly. When I returned home, it was obvious that my dog had been loved and cared for exceptionally well. I highly recommend her services to anyone looking for a trustworthy, attentive, and compassionate dog sitter. I will absolutely be using her again in the future! Thanks again Shanae!”

“Tavonne was an incredible sitter for our Canelita! She gave us regular updates on how our little one settled into her new environment and sent pictures so we would see realtime how Canela made other furry friends. I highly recommend Tavonne’s services to put you at ease during your next out of town trip!”

“I can’t say enough great things about our dog sitter! She did an amazing job taking care of our dog, Diezel, while we were away. She kept us updated throughout the trip with photos and messages, which really put our minds at ease. It was clear that Diezel was happy, well cared for, and having a great time. We came home to a relaxed and content pup, you can tell he got lots of love and attention. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter!”
“Thank you for taking such good care of my baby. Loving the daily report cards. Anyone looking for a doggy sitter, Brandy comes highly recommended. Daily videos and photos were great. Thank you so much.”

“Constance is great! Our schnauzer was in amazing hands, and he seemed to really love his time there. We will definitely schedule with Constance in the future and refer her to anyon els who may need dog sitter support.”

“We came to VA to bring our son to college, the furbaby was slightly in the way (please don’t tell him I said that!)…so, I contacted Tyrah and she responded immediately and was willing to take our baby with short notice. Tyrah was an absolute god send. She was so polite, her place is super clean— I think my baby came back cleaner than I left him! lol… She sent me daily pictures of my baby settling in just fine with her. He came back mild mannered with his lover boy cuddly personality (usually he comes back from sitters pretty rowdy and jumpy), but not this time. I honestly couldn’t tell he had been away. As much as I want to keep Tyrah a secret (and take her back to GA with me), I’ll tell y’all how great she is and what an amazing gem you have in the Hampton area! She truly was the best! She did everything I asked and more. I appreciate her a million times over and will contact her whenever we’re in town! I will definitely share my amazing find with the Hampton U parents who stay home due to not being able to get a local sitter. Thank you, Tyrah!! 💕”

“Thank you so much Erica is awesome bronx second visit was a success I can tell he enjoyed. Erica responds fast and sent me tons of pics while I was away making me feel at ease my boy is in good care see ya next time”

“Caring sitters. Julie provided me with daily updates and pictures of my babies. This is the longest stretch that I had left them and the daily updates made me feel better. I will definitely use their services again! Thank you, Julie and Kenneth, Ethan and of course Louis, their fur baby.”

“Emily was amazing with my cat Juno! She was flexible with scheduling and helped me get Juno into her kennel (easier said than done). Emily also made sure Juno was well fed and gave me an update on how she did during her stay. As a new cat dad, I really appreciated how friendly Emily was!”
“Krystal is awesome! We just moved back into the area and luckily she had availability to board our pup for the week. It was like they never missed a beat after 2.5 years. Krystal was very attentive, allowed her other dogs to play with our pup in the backyard and gave updates regularly with pictures. As long as we're in the Hampton Roads area, Krystal has a repeat customer everytime!”

“Cassie and Rob are Dexter’s second set of parents! I always worry he won’t want to come back home when he’s with them because he has so much fun & love there! Thanks again!”

“I had a great experience with Kacie over spring break! She was very communicative, friendly, and made me feel completely comfortable leaving my dog in her care. I came home to a happy, well-cared-for pup and will definitely be using her again. Highly recommend!”

“I had a worry free vacation thanks to Angela and Cami!! They took such good care of my pup! Photo updates and walks on the beach! Will most definitely be using them in the future!”

About: I've worked in animal welfare & shelters since 2015. I have lots of experience working with dogs and cats with various personalities and needs. I personally own 3 dogs and several cats all at various ages. One of my cats is disabled- and I've owned and worked with dogs and cats that have special needs (seziures, CH, deaf, blind), take daily medications, and possess specific breed traits/personalities that can't make them difficult to manage. Currently work remote and have a large amount of flexibility in between travel for work. I can prov8de limited boarding in home- dogs must be able to coexhist with cats, be able to be crated and/or left in a single room unattended, and be respectful of baby gates. I do have a separate space for cats that is easier to manage. Current cats in the home do free roams but there is an entire space devoted to the dogs in the home. Can crate and rotate as needed and care for up to 2 dogs if everyone can get along. In your home I prefer to stick to as close of a routine that you provide them with- from their potty breaks to morning and evening walks. Staying as consistent as possible can help provide a relaxing trip for you and your pet.
“Samuel was absolutely amazing! I think Silk had a mini vacation - long walks, pets, and pool time, he couldn't have been happier! Samuel provided excellent communication and kept us updated with photos. When we picked Silk up, he greeted us and ran circles around us and Samuel, even further confirming Silk had a great time and enjoyed his visit! Thanks Samuel!”

“Amazing and accommodating when had to extend at last minute. Really sweet and nice people. Notified me when stool was soft and kept monitoring. Will book again.”

Erica is amazing! Not only is she incredibly experienced with both dogs and cats, but she was also there for me when I needed an emergency boarding with pick-up on very short notice. She treated my fur child with nothing but love, respect, and the firm guidance he needs as a German Shepherd. It was clear that she took the time to get to know him as an individual rather than treating him like just another booking. I am beyond thankful that I found her. Her willingness to learn each pet’s unique personality and needs, along with the level of care and attention she provides, is truly unmatched. I had complete peace of mind knowing he was in her care. Especially, for an extended time period. If you’re looking for someone who will love and care for your pet as if they were her own, don’t hesitate to book Erica for your next getaway. You won’t regret it!

Lisa Marie made our pet feel welcome and comfortable. If you have a pet, you know what I mean. When we picked her (our pet) up, she was happy and just as content with us as she was with Lisa Marie ... not in a rush to leave and go home. A 5 star review and well deserved!

Breeona and her family took in my pet on Avery short notice. They made me and my family feel very comfortable by reaching out with pictures and communication a couple of times a day. I highly recommend her and her family if you are looking for a place to leave your baby. Thanks Breeona!
Could not have found a more perfect sitter for my dog and my cat for our 5 day long trip. Communication was a breeze and she provided me with multiple photo updates throughout the day. Will most definitely rebook for future needs. Very accommodating and responsible.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
