“Abby's initial response to Micki on her introductory meeting was so positive I knew immediately she would be a great sitter! Though Abby is usually shy and reticent at first, she was happy to see Micki and accepted treats from her as if she were an old friend. I felt confident in her being taken care of and didn't give it a second thought on a very busy day: it gave me huge peace of mind. Thanks, Micki...we'll call you again for sure!!”

“Lauren was so kind and gave prompt updates with photos and videos of our cat during check ins while we were away, we will certainly be using her services again in the future!”

About: I am a devoted animal person. I have had dogs and cats my whole life, and am experienced with puppies as well as senior dogs. I currently work remotely and have a flexible schedule. I am available for dog walking weekdays and some weekends. Open to special requests and needs. My home has a large doggie door which opens to large fenced in yard. Dogs come in and out as they please. Lots of play toys and special attention.
About: I love animals. I’m compassionate, caring, dependable, honest and sincere. I’ve been around dogs all of my life. I’m a mom of two boys, a caregiver and I also have two dogs of my own. Before starting a family, I volunteered at local animal shelters and worked at the Marin Humane Society for almost a year as an animal care technician. Also, my older son is studying to become a vet tech and has a lot of personal experience with dogs and cats himself.I believe that pets are an integral part of the family and should be treated as such. You can count on me to provide the best service for your pet. Have a “ pawsitively” wonderful day! I can’t wait to meet your furry family member! I work as a direct support professional for a group home for disabled women in Windsor. I have a split shift schedule, and have Fridays and Sundays off. It’s only about a ten minute commute to work across town. I also volunteer at an animal sanctuary once a week. I have extensive experience with animals. I have a fenced yard and a one level home. I no longer have two small dogs of my own, a Jack Russel/chihuahua mix and a shitzu/maltese/bichon mix +, one passed away in October and the other in January of this year from old age. I treat each pet I care for as if they were my own. With love , compassion, patience and attention to detail and safety.
“Amanda went above and beyond by making an extra trip to our house to receive cat food we had delivered to stock our auto cat feeder. She left us sweet notes and photos at every visit and we knew our cat and chickens would be well cared for so we could enjoy our vacation.”

About: My name is Nicole. I have been an animal lover since I was old enough to know what animals were. Between catching potato bugs, feeding the spiders in my windowsills, and moving worms off of sidewalks, I’ve always had a particular connection with the animals that most people don’t understand. As soon as I was old enough, I marched off to the Sonoma County Animal Services to volunteer. From there, it was love at first bark. When I turned 18, I immediately went to animal care as my first real job and was lucky enough to work at Rohnert Park Animal Services for several years. I opened my home to many different rescue critters including snakes, tortoises, rats, lizards, and birds. I rescued my first dog and she is still my best friend to this day 10 years later! Over the years, I was blessed to foster many different exotic animals and worked with the Sacramento SPCA through the pandemic. Shortly after, I made a huge cross-country move and ended up in Louisiana working with all kinds of critters at Northshore Humane Society. From there, I ended up back in my hometown of Sonoma County. Throughout all of these changes, the one variable that never changed was my love for animals and passion for making sure they were safe. Through my 8+ years of shelter experience I have worked with the most feral of feral cats, wildlife brought in shoeboxes, all sizes and shapes of dogs, and so much more. I have met and befriended many pets that were reluctant to be befriended and worked with virtually every breed of cat and dog on the planet. I am fear-free certified and have extensive experience with medication management, basic first-aid, canine CPR, and basic training for both dogs and cats. I am experienced with walking large breeds including reactive dogs and can handle heavy pullers (I have TWO huskies!). I have also volunteered with the Bird Rescue Center of Sonoma County and have a special skillset with exotic animals. My two personal rescue dogs are half husky and bully breed which are two of the most misunderstood dog breeds, so there will be no breed discrimination from me. My favorite furry friends are often shy, tricky to befriend, or nervous. Making a scared baby comfortable means the world to me and I love the challenge. As stated above, I also have extensive experience caring for exotic pets including rats, mice, birds, snakes, tortoises, turtles, fish, lizards, invertebrates, and spiders. I am perfectly comfortable with your exotic pet’s diet and am familiar with feeding snakes and other reptiles frozen-thawed rodents. The only animals I won’t consider petsitting for are species that are illegal to own or venomous. If I had to summarize my truest passion, it would be making sure that every single animal feels safe and comfortable. Even if they’re not perfect, they all deserve kindness and patience. We don’t expect perfection from humans, but we so frequently expect it of animals. So if your pet is a little bit quirky or one of those types that gets dismissed as “scary” or “mean”, you’ve found a person that will give them exactly what they need to feel loved and cherished. Because no pet is perfect, but they are perfect for you. My promise to you is that I will do my best to be your baby’s new BFF. No pet sitter will truly replace you, but I will make sure that I’m the second-best thing. I work from home as an administrative assistant for my husband's guitar studio, so I have a flexible schedule to meet your specific needs. I have access to a reliable car and am happy to do multiple drop-ins so your buddy is comfortable all day long. My motto is that ALL animals deserve humane, kind, and compassionate care. My 16 years in animal shelters has gifted me with experience handling virtually every type of pet of all different shapes, sizes, personalities, and needs. I am certified in fear-free training and utilize positive reinforcement only. I'm passionate about cooperative care and ethical handling no matter the circumstances. I understand that every pet is different and will learn how to make your best bud feel comfortable, safe, and loved.

About: Finding someone to care for your pet can feel like a lot. You want to know they'll be safe, happy, and treated like family while you're away, and you don't want to spend your whole day wondering how they're doing. ⠀ That's where I come in! ⠀ I raised and trained my own dog from a tiny puppy all the way to crossing the rainbow bridge, and it was the best experience of my life. I also went through Sirius Puppy Training, so I know how to work with dogs using positive, reward-based methods that help them feel confident and comfortable with me. ⠀ Got a dog with energy to burn? I know all the best local spots, like Riverfront, Laguna, Taylor Mountain, and Spring Lake, and I love taking pups out to explore. I bring along games to keep their brains busy too. You'll come home to one happy, tired dog. ⠀ Got a senior who likes to take it slow? We'll stroll the neighborhood at whatever pace feels good to them. ⠀ Does your pet need meds or a little extra TLC? I've handled complicated medication routines for dogs in treatment, so you can trust me to follow your instructions to the letter. ⠀ Have a cat? I'm a cat person too! I'm happy to stop by for feedings, litter changes, and some good company. ⠀ You'll get photos and a quick update every visit, so you'll always know how your pet is doing. And since my schedule's flexible, last-minute requests, early mornings, and evenings are no problem. ⠀ I'd love to meet you and your furry family member! 🐈🐕 I work from home as a freelancer and can accommodate most requests on weekdays, sometimes I can also pick up work on weekends. I walk everyday, rain or shine and love to bring happy dogs on the trail! In My Home: I treat every pet in my care as if they were my own. I maintain a calm, safe environment and follow your established routines as closely as possible—from feeding schedules to playtime preferences. For dogs, I provide plenty of exercise through walks or hikes suited to their energy level, and I'm always attentive to their comfort and body language. I keep pets secure with leashed walks, and I'm vigilant about potential hazards both indoors and on trails. For pets on medication or special diets, I follow instructions carefully and keep detailed notes. I also provide regular updates with photos so you can enjoy peace of mind while you're away. Since I work from home, the pet is with me 24/7, with only short breaks if I need to go do an errand - in which case we use a crate. In Your Home: I respect your home as I would my own. I follow all your instructions for feeding, medication, routines, and house rules. I keep things tidy, secure doors and windows, and ensure your pet stays safe and comfortable in their familiar environment. I'm happy to bring in mail, water plants, or adjust lighting to give your home a lived-in feel while you're away. Communication is key, so I provide regular updates and am always available if questions come up. My goal is to make the transition seamless for both you and your pet.
About: I’m the lady who crosses the street to ask if I can pet your dog. I love all dogs, but big dogs have my heart. I confess, I’m also the lady that will remember your dog’s name, age and origins, but perhaps not always your name. Although I have the confidence and experience to befriend your big dogs, that shouldn’t suggest that I don’t love our smaller friends, as well. Big and small, I love them all❣️ I’ve been responsible for animals most of my life. Chiefly, I’ve had the privilege to care and own big dogs. Growing up, we had a Sheppard-Mastiff mix, and that’s when my love for big dogs began. In our house, we had a macaw, cockatoo, kākāriki, ring-necked parakeet, and a cockatiel, tropical/ saltwater fish, dogs, and cats. I continue to be a proud breed ambassador and have owned 4 Rottweilers over the years. I’ve been gainfully employed as a civil servant for 25 years. After my last Rottweiler passed away, I wanted to care for a dog again, but haven’t adopted quite yet. I enjoy hiking, outdoor activities, walking and traveling, and of course dogs! I’ve had the privilege to care for our misunderstood and sometimes reactive dog friends, as well. All dogs deserve love. I helped welp Belgian Malinois puppies and ensure they found loving, deserving homes. I joke that, “If the choice was between world peace or puppies, I would choose puppies.” I can’t wait to meet your doggie! Since I’m a civil servant, my schedule is consistent. I have free nights and 3-day weekends. I enjoy a lot of free time that I would like to fulfill with dogs. I have a secured, fenced yard. I can also kennel your pets as well. My responsibility to you is ensuring your family member is secure in my charge.

I have a cat and an elderly/special needs dog myself and have experience caring for all kinds. I well versed in medicating, and other special needs. I work from home with very flexible hours so I am fairly available during the week for drop ins, walks and boarding. I have some weekend availability also for overnights. As a pet owner myself I know how much we care for our animals and I understand the trust it takes putting their care in another’s hands. I take that responsibility, as well as their safety, wellbeing and comfort seriously. Whether in my home or yours, I’ll provide them with the utmost care and respect.

About: I have experience caring for and walking my family and friends’ dogs for 10 years. I have experience with reactive dogs. I understand that every dog is unique and that each dog has different needs. I am familiar with dog CPR. I am no stranger to administering medication to dogs. I am free after 4pm on Monday-Friday. On weekends I am free from 7am-9pm. If needed, we can arrange earlier or later appointment times. Thanks! I can stop by at your home to check in on your furry friend(s) and make sure that they have plenty of food and water in their bowls, as well as give them ample time to go to the bathroom prior to completing the check in. I can provide 30 min-1 hour walks, or stimulate/play with your dog(s) for 30 min-1 hour in the safety of your home yard or nearby dog park.
About: I’ve been around animals all my life. I’ve always had a dog or a cat growing up. I’ve dog sat for my aunt when she on vacation traveling since I was 18 years old. She had dogs from Dalmatians to mawltises to hound dogs and boarding collies. I’ve had rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, dogs and cats growing up. I’ve even taken care of birds and reptiles. I just love animals and I love taking care of them. I feel if the world lived life more like a dog the world would be a way better place. I’m a store manager for shell gas station so I have lots of flexibility with my schedule and what hours I want to work. But I mainly work Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and four hours on the weekend. I have a dog door with a fenced in yard as well as garage with a dog door in it so i can separate if need be. I also have a aunt that live less than five minutes away that can always drop by and check on them as well. I live in a very safe area in an HOA community with a park around the Corner. Quiet street, with very little bother. I have a fence in yard with dog door, garage and gates. I have a dog super friendly as well as two cats super friendly. About: I have experience caring for multiple dogs at a time, including caring for three dogs in one household and two dogs in another. I was responsible for their daily care and making sure they were safe, fed, exercised, and comfortable. Managing several dogs at once taught me how to stay patient, attentive, and organized, even when they were energetic or had different personalities and needs. I genuinely enjoy being around dogs and would treat every pet in my care like they were my own. I only have a college class twice a week for only one hour of my day and I have a part-time job that is only certain days of the week. Rover will be the perfect fill-in for all that extra time that I have, and I will always put my customers first. I live in a very mellow neighborhood where there are also many dogs around me where people are walking their dogs and having them on leashes, I live in an apartment that is very dog friendly and I will spend all of my time taking the dog or taking it out on the grass, we do have a dog area at my apartment.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hacienda
Melissa is a kind & compassionate pet sitter who is extremely reliable & communicative. I could see from the daily notes & great photos that my cat was loving all the attention & extra playtime from Melissa & her charming son. I came home to a happy cat & house exactly as I had left it. She even re-set the clocks after a power outage. I can't recommend her highly enough.

Melissa was a very experienced, long-term pet lover and had a special fondness for cats. We could really tell because of the bond between Melissa and her family Spirit in the pictures. Spirit was spoiled with her favorite toys while we were away and I think we a new friend in our neighborhood to take care of our very active cat. Mary, David and Noah

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks.
