House Sitting in Grinnell

“This was our first pet sitting experience with Amy - she house sat our two pups for 8 days and did an amazing job. Detailed breakdown below: - Communication: We've booked multiple sitters through Rover during various family trips and have a good amount of experience being able to compare several pet sitters. When Amy came to the meet & greet she asked so many detailed questions and took copious notes to ensure she had everything covered. She had a very caring demeanor and our pups liked her right away. Prior to the scheduled pet sitting, we had multiple exchanges over messaging and she was always extremely prompt to respond & provided super thorough responses/details. She was great at communicating during our trip and kept us in the loop on everything going on. She also provided fantastic detailed wrap-up notes to let us know about anything she had observed and things for us to be aware of. We definitely appreciated her communication style as some pet sitters have not always been the most reliable when providing updates or responding to our questions. -During the Stay: We had an incident that occurred with one of our dogs during the booking where our pup ingested something toxic, started throwing up continuously along with shaking. Amy was extremely proactive in reaching out to our main vet multiple times, giving us a full breakdown of the situation with constant updates, reaching out to a second vet on our list for a second opinion, and then taking our dog to animal emergency hospital for treatment & overnight stay. During all this time she constantly kept communication going with us and the emergency clinic. It was a very stressful situation for us as we were out of the country & far away from our where we felt helpless while this was happening. However, Amy did everything in her power to make us feel so much more at ease with how diligently she handled the situation while providing constant monitoring, compassionate care, & attention to our dog during the situation as well as for the remainder of her house sitting that week. Besides, taking care of our pups, Amy also offered and took care of a few things for us including watering our plants, brining in packages, and also proactively doing a load of laundry to wash our towels. She also offered to wash the bedding on the guest bed but we let her know that we appreciated it and didn't want her to do additional extra work. Overall, this was one of the best experiences we have had with a pet sitter. We would definitely book Amy for pet sitting in the future and would highly recommend her! We are grateful for all of your hard work, loving care, take-charge approach in handling an emergency situation, great transparent communication, and true attention to detail! About: Howdy I’m Joy. I live 15 minutes from Iowa City where I work part time at the University of Iowa. The small town I live in is Oxford, the closest dog park is Tiffin, the best is Thornberry on the peninsula. I have been passionate about pets my whole life! My family always had pets; dogs, cats, birds, etc growing up. I am very outgoing, even hyperactive, I believe the energy a dog gives is worth any investment . I have 2 pups, Chihuahuas! One is 2 and one is 8 months puppy. I love taking them around to the parks and on walks. I want to see more happy more happy tails in the neighborhood! About: I’m ready to take care of your fur babies needs. I also am a ball python owner and know how to take care of bps! Please feel free to look at my history! Recent August 2023 - A few hours noticed a neighbor needed my pet watching service. I watch Sophia and Shadow (Labrador’s) so that their owners could go to there nieces dance show! I played with them outside at their house all fenced in area. Lots of pets and made sure to feed them the correct food and portion! May 2023 - watched 4 Dogs each with their own food needs and had to place the bowls in different rooms. Lots of petting and napping together. I let them outside because they were all fenced in. The owners were gone for a week on vacation! April 2023 - Just watched two cats while the owners went on vacationing. I made sure that all their bowls were filled, watered and lots of pets and talked to them. 24+ years old - I’ve always watched my friends dogs and cats. my parents have a collie again (Waylon 100 pounds) and a ragdoll (Wyatt 12 pounds). I babysit them frequently and both trained like a dog, smart, fun, and loving their fur baby life!. Yes, Wyatt sits with hand signal. I’ve always loved to train. 23 years old - I volunteered at a humane society. I was recognized for my work. I walked 18 dogs by myself in the winter at times. I did this for a year and a half. 10 years old - had a collie (Orion) and cat ( Milo). I trained the family dog all kinds of commands and milo would join us for walks. I miss them. I currently work as a freelancer and would like to fill my life with the outdoors and walk your dog! I’m always at the screen and want a second job. I follow instructions if I’m staying at the clients home. Please feel free to type up your perfect sheet of instructions so I may know exactly how to take care of your fur babies.

About: I've been taking care of animals since I was 8 and took care of my dog from when he was a puppy until old age. When I'm home, I'm always taking care of the neighbor's dogs and taking them on long hikes. I am a senior at Grinnell College with extra time this semester that I'd like to use to take care of all your animal needs.
