Patricia was wonderful with my senior dog! She was so kind, quick to communicate, and worked with me on drop off and pick up times due to my chaotic schedule the weekend of my son’s wedding! I will absolutely work with her again!

Jody (Jolene) was very quick to respond and took great care of our lab! He had double ACL surgery in previous years so she ensured he was not roughhousing with other pets. Thank you!

Christina was great! Very communicative and sent updates for my little guy. Kip also seemed to really enjoy himself and be comfortable in their home. He got his meds when scheduled. I am overall happy with the experience.

Brandon was a great dog sitter for the week and half we were gone! He gave our Wheaten all of the walks and play he needed. Brandon kept in touch with updates and was easy to communicate with. He loved our dog like his own, and I’m sure our Wheaten would love to go back next time we need a sitter!

My dog warmed up to Autumn right away, and Autumn excitedly welcomed her into her home. She took her on long walks even when the weather was not very nice. She kept in contact with me throughout the day to keep me posted on how my dog was doing. They became good buddies.

I highly recommend Sasha! We were out of town for the holidays, and Sasha took exceptional care of our dog, Ryder. Ryder has severe anxiety, but Sasha was incredibly patient with him. It was reassuring to know that Ryder was in good hands. Plus, he got to enjoy playtime with Sasha's dog, which he loved. Sasha's dedication and kindness made our holiday trip worry-free!

About: I have always been surrounded by pets and animals - I am currently hosting two cats on my lap as I type! - and absolutely love them. My first job as a kid was dog sitting and dog walking for a giant, senior golden retriever and a tiny, spunky papillion. I have experience with dogs and cats of all ages and stages (including newborn kittens and very senior, diaper-wearing dogs), plus rats, rabbits, birds, fish, shrimp, snails, and bearded dragons. I am warm, loving, flexible, have a great sense of humor, and have my fair share of cleaning up pet "whoopsies" - all crucial traits for your next pet sitter! I work from home and have an extremely flexible schedule, so can easily fit your pets' schedule into my daily work - including coming over multiple times a day or even spending my working day (or the entire day!) at your home hanging out with your pets for added companionship and care. I am also available for periodic overnight pet sitting at your home! I am highly respectful of your home and the routines you have created there, which are critically important to keep your pets' stress levels low and happiness levels high (and yours, too!). I will follow any standards you have set, will keep the space organized and tidy, and will respect your privacy to the highest degree. Do you not let your dog on the couch? I won't either. Does your cat demand the blue bowl for his food? I'll use it and shun any others. Do you need your door unlocked at a certain time for a delivery? I'll make sure it's done. I am there to meet your pets' needs and your own needs, so let me know how I can help!

Maria is clearly a dog person: my dog took to her immediately and was reluctant to leave after the meet and greet! My dog got lots of love and walks while I was out of town. Maria and her friends gave her lots of attention, and her cat and my dog got along by mostly minding their own business. I received plenty of pictures, including a couple of my dog cuddled up in a blanket on the bed.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Grinnell home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Grinnell.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
