“Candice did an amazing job taking care of Stu. Though he was happy when we came home, there was absolutely no sign that he was lonely. Its clear that Candice spent ample time making sure he was comfortable. Candice also left the home completely undisturbed. I will use her services again and highly recommend her.”

“Sarah was amazing with our dogs, Apollo and Kaiser! She sent regular updates with messages, photos, and videos, which gave us so much peace of mind. The dogs enjoyed regular outdoor playtime, and their rooms were left neat and clean. We’re very happy with the whole experience and will definitely book with her again next time!”

“Denita is incredible. She has stayed with our babies several times now at our home and she has left it better than when we left. She is extremely trustworthy and responsive, proactive, kind, and loving towards our babies. We never have to worry with her there. Shes the only way to go! And her husband is great too! 😊🤠”

“Stephanie has been absolutely great. She keeps me updated daily and sends me pictures of our dog. It’s much appreciated. It takes a lot with our dog to warm up to strangers but it seems like it didn’t take long. She must be doing things right. The house is always in tip top shape when we return.”

About: I’ve been working with animals for 15 years, caring for dogs, cats, birds and can help with farm animals as well. I have handled breeds that are small to very large. I am very flexible with my schedule. I love to ensure they are getting their exercise as needed, as well as a well rounded diet. I am a stay at home mom so I am very happy to be with them however they require. We use leashes and harnesses for outside. We have a dog park close by that’s fenced in and safe for giving them running time and ability to play freely

About: I have been pet sitting for 4 years. I have also been a part time dog groomer for a couple of years. I have experience with dogs as small as French Bulldogs to as large as Spanish Mastiffs and Bernese Mountain Dogs. I have experience with LOTS of dogs and cats. My mother is a dog breeder, so I have experience caring for puppies from birth all through the puppy and adult stages. I am a full time college student and volunteer soccer coach, so I will not be able to always stay at a home for hours at a time. I take top precautions when pet sitting in people's homes, sending pictures, messaging owners, and calling if there are any issues or uncertain about something.
“Jay was a great sitter to my fur babies! I booked last minute and for a holiday weekend. Jay was super easy going and took good care of my crazy puppy and my cat. He was easy to communicate with. Both animals were happy and content when I got home. The apartment was clean. I would definitely book Jay again.”

“This is the 2nd time Audra has watched our dogs in our home. The dogs love having her here and it’s a relief that someone is home with them while we are away! We will definitely be asking Audra to house/pet sit again!”

“Chloe did a super job, pet and house-sitting while we were away. We had daily contact and she readily answered any questions or concerns. We are so grateful to know our pets were well cared for while we were away!!! Thank you Chloe!”
About: What sets me apart is the vast experience I've gained from caring for a wide range of dogs, from newborn puppies to senior dogs. I’ve successfully handled the responsibility of caring for 6+ dogs at once, demonstrating my ability to manage multiple pets with different needs and personalities. Pet care fits seamlessly into my routine as I work part-time, giving me plenty of time to spend with your pets. With pets of my own at home, I'm already accustomed to daily pet care, ensuring that your pets will receive the attention and love they need. In my home, I create a comfortable and safe environment for pets by providing plenty of space to play, rest, and explore. I follow each pet's routine closely, ensuring they get the proper exercise, meals, and attention. For my clients' homes, I make sure to respect their space while offering the same level of care, following their instructions closely, whether it's feeding, walking, or giving medication. I keep pets entertained, comfortable, and secure, ensuring they feel at home, whether it's in their own space or mine.
“Victoria was a great sitter. My dog had just been neutered so I wanted him to be watched at home. She came on time and was very respectful being in the home. Will definitely book again!”

About: I’ve had a LOT of animals throughout my life to include fish, birds, dogs, chinchilla, guinea pigs, horses, goats and pigs. Ive been in the situation of needing a fur baby sitter while having to travel. I currently have 5 dogs and a cat. I’m in the process of creating a dog haven in my big back yard and have an air conditioned inside play/rest area for hot days. I work from home and have an open schedule. I travel some but I can usually adjust it when needed. Last minute requests for weekends are sometimes doable. I have five dogs so I do not stay overnight. I take my dogs on hikes almost daily, weather permitting. We also go shopping at pet friendly stores. I can do one on one visits or your pup can be part of the pack.
“Our family has a senior dog, Mr. Barkley, and I can't stress enough how important he is to us. In the past, he has been really upset about being left behind when we leave on a trip, so I was quite nervous about being gone for a whole week. I'm so glad that we met Laura and that she was able to stay at our house caring for him. He has specific medications and feedings that need to be given at various times as well as mobility issues that require certain walk times and patience. In addition to showing great kindness and affection to our sweet boy, she was able to accommodate his needs, made it clear she understood the plan with questions before we left and kept us in the loop with photos and updates throughout our absence. When we came home, the house was perfect and Mr. Barkley was content. We feel comfortable asking her help in the future which makes traveling much more enjoyable!”

“Brandon watched our xxl mastiffs for days and I cannot say enough good about him. I was never stressed or worried - he kept me updated all the time and my dogs loved him. I adore this guy and trust him 100%”

“Kristen did the most incredible job taking care of our two large dogs! She sent photos, kept us updated, and made us feel so at ease during our trip. The house is spotless and the dogs are very happy. Thank you Kristen!”

“Charish watched my little guy again while I traveled for my job. My pup was calm and happy when I got home and house was spotless! She even took care of some house stuff when weather was coming in. Thank you Charish for being the most awesome pet/house sitter!!”

“Delaney was fantastic! Was available sort of last-minute and took excellent care of the pets and the house. When I got home, I honestly couldn't tell anyone had even been here, but for the fact that the pets were happy and healthy. :-) She sent updates and pictures, and I never had a worry. I look forward to having her here again.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Glen Alice walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Glen Alice maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Glen Alice choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Glen Alice. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
