About: I have worked as a recurring dog sitter for several families over the past five years, each with a different breed of dog (Weimaraner, Schnauzer, Dachshund). I take pet health and safety vary seriously, practicing the same standards I use personally to keep my own pets safe. For me, this means maintaining a clean and tidy environment free from any potential hazards (e.g., not leaving chocolate at a level a dog could reasonably reach; making sure gates and doors are closed). In addition to maintaining a safe environment, I try to be emotionally tuned in to the animal I am watching. For instance, when the Weimaraner I watch gets anxious due to people walking past the house, I talk to her in a soft voice and pet her until she calms down. If I zip to the store, I will close the blinds so she is not in a position to be triggered by this stimulus.

About: I've been around dogs my entire life. At about 5 years old, my father adopted my grandfather's two Beagles and they quickly became my best friends. Today, I have 2 dogs at home, one that's 17 and one that's 7. And still they're my best friends. For as much as I love dogs, it really does feel like they love me back. Whenever I go over anyone's house I hear " Wow he never behaves this well around people normally." Each dog is so unique and the most fun thing for me is learning what makes them wag their little tails! I work from home from my apartment and only have one roommate so I'm incredibly flexible when it comes to scheduling. I'm sure that I could make just about anything work given a small notice. I have a two room apartment and a kitchen. Playing and feeding is easy for me in the apartment, but I also have a park right near me, about a 5 minute walk away.
