“Ken was awesome! Our boy Gunnar was obviously well taken care and the house was cleaner than when we left it. Ken dropped by a couple of days after house/dog sitting for us and Gunnar was beside himself. Friends for life. We won't use anyone else. We highly recommend Ken, just not when we need him:)”

“Eric was a wonderful house and pet sitter! Our dog, Willow, loved Eric and his dog Rufus. Eric took Willow on many hikes and left our house in pristine condition. We would definitely recommend Eric to anyone living or staying in Summit County! Thank you so much!”

“Tori stayed with our two dogs at our house for five days. She did an initial visit and met the dogs and we felt very comfortable with her! She was amazing!!!! Super attentive to ours babies, sent pictures, lots of walks and cuddles. She kept us updated and had regular communication. We all love Tori!!!”

About: I recently lost my puppy of 14 years, who was my world, so I decided to sign up to love on other dogs. I have volunteered at numerous shelters; taken training classes and first aid courses. I work from home part time, and am used to having a pup in-tow. I am almost always home and available, or outside carrying a leash. I am flexible and able to house sit and drop in. 5 min drive off I70 Exit 205 silverthorne. I know I just signed up, but am experienced and have plenty of time and space for your dog! You'll see 😁 I work from home, a few hrs per day. So that gives me a lot of flexibility and time for your pet. I am also available to house sit and do drop ins. I will provide a safe and caring home for your pup by offering daily exercise and playtime (and love), ensuring fresh food and water are always available, maintaining a clean and secure living environment, and seeking any veterinary care. I will also make sure your pet is comfortable and well loved, with plenty of attention and affection! 😊 I can send daily photos on request.
“Mackenzie and our cat got a long so well. She sent video updates and was prompt, organized and mature. She stayed with our 16 y.o cat while we were out of town for most of a week. Upon our return, our boy was happy and relaxed. We will definitely use Mackenzie again!”

“Ellie was phenomenal!! She said multiple nights at our house with our dog. We got so many fun and active photos of him, looking so happy 😊 we could not have asked for it to go better. We even had some electrical problems happen at the house when we were away and she went out of her way to help mitigate them! 10/10!”

About: I care quite a lot about animals. I have great communication skills and I’m very flexible. I strive to make sure everything goes smoothly to ensure that owner is anxiety free. Not much daily care though I am currently a full time student. But this upcoming fall I have 4 days of open time to be able to be around much more. And staying flexible. Safety is extremely important for me to have care for any animal. Whether that’s mine or someone else’s. I want this experience leaving your animal with someone to be a positive experience and stress less.
About: I’ve grown up with a love for animals. In my home, I’ve cared for dogs, bunnies, birds, and horses to name a few! Animals are a major part of my life and I will always treat your pets like my own. I currently run my own business so my schedule is flexible! I can usually rearrange my schedule to fit in your dogs potty, walk, or feeding schedule! I want your dogs to feel like I’m an extension of your family, so however you care for your pets, I will happily follow your routines. I want to keep them happy and comfortable just as if you were home!
“Carolina took care of my beloved Scottish Deerhound for 2 nights. She was very responsive, answered all messages promptly, and sent pictures. This was my first time using Rover-so I was a little nervous but I will definitely use Carolina again! Thank you!”

About: I genuinely enjoy taking care of, playing and loving pets! I have been around animals my whole life & it makes life so much more fulfilling. I have two cats and a dog of my own & have been the dog/cat auntie for many friends with pets. I love taking pets on adventures, hiking, parks, kayaking, paddle boarding, cuddling up on the couch, playing fetch, tug of war or learning new tricks. Pets add so much love and joy to our lives, they give love without question & it’s so meaningful to experience. I have volunteered at animal shelters in the USVI and SC. I also volunteered at a Donkey rehabilitation center in USVI taking care of donkeys, goats & horses. Rover is currently my main job so I should have availability in my schedule as of right now. Message me and we can talk more about scheduling needs. I believe in creating a safe and loving space for your pet or continuing the current space provided. I live by the statement “always leave things better than you found them”.

About: Hi! I'm a lifelong animal lover who grew up on a horse farm in Virginia, surrounded by dogs, cats, and horses. Caring for animals has always been a part of my life, and I have experience with dogs of all ages—from energetic puppies who need patience and training to senior dogs who deserve extra care and attention. I treat every pet like they're my own and always strive to provide a safe, loving, and fun environment. I work remotely, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to be home throughout the day. FAQs for House Sitting - Gilman
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 322 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Gilman. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Gilman walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Gilman maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gilman choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Gilman. On Rover:
- 86% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 90% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
