“Andie, Thanks for taking care of our Aussie on the day of our move, accommodating our schedule on that day, sending us periodic pictures, etc. We should've taken advantage of your services earlier!”

“Would love to have this couple for neighbors! When we pulled up to their home we noticed how neat and well kept everything was. David (Vickie's) husband met us at the door and invited us in. The inside of the house was immaculate, nothing out of order and no doggy smell. We walked out to the back porch where Vickie was with their dog and one small dog. We had written on Riley's profile that he was very good with other animals. Riley immediately took off to sniff every blade of grass in their yard (and it is quite a big yard) and got along with the other dogs immediately. Vickie and David were so cordial you got a warm feeling like you were leaving your dog with a trusted friend. We were going to Charleston for the day and ask if we could pick up Riley around 8:00 pm and they said we could even stay out until 9:00 pm that would be no problem for them, During the afternoon Vickie sent two darling pictures of Riley saying that he was getting along very well. On our way home I wrote to Vickie to see how Riley was doing and within a few minutes she was texting me back that Riley was still doing well and sometimes would lay in front of the door waiting for us. I would highly recommend Vickie & David for either day care or spending the night. I doubt you would ever be able to find a nicer place to board your animal.”

About: My name is Ashton and I am a native to Myrtle Beach, SC. I am a lover of all animals, hence how I got my nickname the "animal whisperer". I know they can't speak to us but I am extremely Intune to animals needs and feelings. I currently own four dogs; Macaroni-a chowski (10), Scooter Woo Woo- pit/bernard mix (9), Piper- an Aussie(3), and Willie- Schipperke/Pom (1). They are my kids and go mostly anywhere I can take them. I am currently taking over the family restaurant and have a lot of flexibility during the day. I tend to get bored during the day so I wanted to add something I would enjoy- and this is how I landed here. I have worked with a couple of the animal shelter's in the past few years. Whether it be fostering or helping with the rehabilitating shy animal program- all are extremely rewarding. I've met all walks of life (animal and people) partaking in this endeavor. A mix I currently own, Scooter, was a bait dog from a fighting ring that I worked with to rehabilitate. I was the only human he bonded with so he came home with me and is now the most obedient loving animal I've ever owned. I also enjoy training on the side. I look at this as a new opportunity to meet people and their pets! Owning a restaurant, I am pretty flexible with my days. I can come and go as I please. That being said, I have numerous full time drop ins that I can accomodate. I’ve been taking care of clients pets and homes for over ten years. I’m very clean and meticulous. Their pets I treat as my own.
About: My family and I are Christians. I was making plans to get my son a dog once he started working this summer. His big sister, who is now 20, worked at Ripleys Aquarium before she joined the Airforce a year ago. He wants a job there this summer just so he can learn more about animals. He is a natural around dogs and other animals. He is an honor role student who wants to be a vet one day. While I was out walking in my neighborhood, I ran into a sweet lady who told us about Rover.com. I thought how perfect is that. We get the love and warmth of a dog, and I will be able to teach my beloved son about responsibility and helping others. Your dog will get the love and care that you would expect and will be completely safe with us. The last dog I owned was a Staffordshire Terrier. We loved him. His resting place is in my home Bermuda.
About: I was a single dog owner for over 14 years, from a young energetic pup through her dignified, gentle senior years. I’m outdoorsy, loving, detail oriented, and excited about going on adventures with a new companion. I was a very protective dog owner and always careful about who I let pet sit her, so I understand the anxiety of having to leave your dog at home and will do everything I can to make everyone feel comfortable! I have enough experience to continue your regular puppy training while you’re gone and can adhere to all of the patience and special attention that senior dogs deserve. I also have a lot of experience house sitting with pets and have reliable transportation. I am currently working part time, so I have plenty of time of time to dedicate towards your pet’s needs! With your permission, I would love to include my new pal in summer activities — I enjoy dog parks, hiking, beach walks, camping, and swimming. When caring for pets in the clients home, I like to provide as much communication as the client prefers to feel confident and comfortable. I’m cleanly and, if possible, I like to leave somewhere in better shape than I found it! Whole house sitting or providing a day care, I look forward to continuing your dog’s daily routine and schedule as well as including them in extra activities if that interests the client and their pup!
“I recently had the pleasure of hiring Jacklyn to take care of my dog, Hazel Grace, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Jacklyn was incredibly professional, punctual, and caring, making both Hazel Grace and me feel at ease. From the moment we met, it was clear that she had a genuine love for animals. She took the time to understand Hazel’s routine, preferences, and any specific needs. Hazel Grace is usually quite shy around new people, but Jacklyn’s warm and gentle approach quickly won her over. During the time Jacklyn looked after Hazel, she provided regular updates, including photos, which reassured me that everything was going well. It was evident that Jacklyn was not only ensuring Hazel was fed and exercised, but also showering them with affection and attention. I was particularly impressed with Jacklyn’s attention to detail. When I returned, Hazel was happy, healthy, and clearly well-cared for. Overall, I highly recommend Jacklyn to anyone in need of a reliable and compassionate dog sitter. Her dedication and love for animals truly shine through in her work. Thank you, Jacklyn for taking such wonderful care of Hazel Grace!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 154 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Gilliard. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Gilliard commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in SC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 154 sitters in Gilliard, 94% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
