“Karlee was awesome! She left the most detailed notes and photos that I've ever seen from a sitter, and she was incredibly personable and warm. Definitely glad we found her to care for our kitties and wouldn't hesitate to book her again.”

“Amelie was amazing! She was clear, organized, and took the best care of my pup all while providing the cutest updates. I would recommend her to anyone and definitely will be using her again!!!”

“From the start, Erin was amazing! She worked with our schedule and did such a wonderful job with our pups! They were so happy when we came home and we could tell they were really well cared for while we were gone. Erin kept us up to date on their daily activities and sent us lots of pictures 🙂 It was awesome seeing how much fun they were having and it really helped us to relax. Erin even straightened up the puppy blankets and brought in our mail! She is the best!!”

About: I’ve owned many dogs over my lifetime. From a Min Pin to Collies, Retrievers and Pointers. I have taken care of friends and relatives animals while they were out of town. I have done long time sits (several weeks) to daily drop ins. I’m retired so I have lots of time to care for your pets. I love taking walks and getting to know each animal whether it’s to come hang out and play, feed etc or take for long or short walks. I don’t have any dogs or cats living with me now due to my landlord not allowing pet ownership. They don’t mind if I bring a dog here for short periods.
“Yana is great! She was scheduled for a drop in for my dogs. They loved her and she gave attention to my cat as well (not that he gives anyone a choice). The dogs were happy and worn out when I got home. I will absolutely be booking with her again.”

About: I have taken care of many dogs and love to bond with them. Family and friends have let me pet sit for years and who doesn’t love hanging out with a cute dog. I am currently a part time student and in my off I go on walks and play with my own dog at home. I also go to dog parks to play with my two dogs. I will keep eyes on your pets and play with them and get their energy out. I will also make sure your pet has a new best friend.
“Caroline has been so patient with helping my dog feel comfortable with a stranger in the house. She has been a wonderful communicator and genuinely cares. Thank you!”

“My dog had such a great time with Bertie while I was on vacation, she probably didn’t even notice I was gone. Seeing the pictures of their day together made me happy and I will rebook in the future!”

“Very communicative, sent us lots of photos of our fur babies, & very accommodating. Loved that she also was willing to do a meet & greet first. We would totally use Amy for her services again!”

“Madelyn was amazing with Baxter and Bentley when we had to be out of town for a few days. She stayed in touch with me and sent me great photos after each drop-in visit. She even came over to meet them and me before we left town. I was super impressed and so thankful for how happy our dogs were while we were gone. I can’t recommend her enough!”

“I was very lucky to have found Robert when I did. He was a wonderful sitter and even my little spicy Miku seem to warm to him. She can be afraid of strangers, yet Robert was gentle and patient. Could not have asked for a better sitter.”

“Natalie has done drop-ins with our Magz a few times now and has been so lovely! She even brought Magz out to play in the snow while my partner and I were both at work. Thank you Natalie!”

“Tessa was great! She sent updates about the automatic feeder, water fountain, and litterbox. She also sent pictures of the cats eating their wet food, which I really appreciated. I'd happily rebook!”

“Emil is super flexible and always willing to help! He’s easy going and took my pup and kindly watched her for my first week of work. It was hard to leave her, so I appreciated all his help!”

“Danielle was fantastic with my shy older kitty! This was the first time I'd left her at home for more than one night, and I was nervous about how she'd react. Even though she usually hides from strangers, my cat was coming out and greeting Danielle at every visit, and she was perfectly happy when I got home. I would absolutely book with Danielle again!”

“Dakota met us and our GS before we left town. We were very pleased and comfortable leaving our pet under his care. He didn't just drop in to feed and walk him, he also played with him. We will never use boarding. We will differently use Dakota again when needed.”

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Free Union. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
