Tonya does an amazing job walking and taking care of my little Hammy! She came prepared for our meet and greet and asked all of the important questions. I love having the peace of mind that she’s caring for him while I’m at work.

I can't thank Sam enough for the amazing communication and great care he takes of Meilah when he comes to let her out. My neighbors say he is great allowing her to sniff around and go potty. She is always very relaxed when we get home from work.

About: I had a dog as a child. I have had dogs for over 35 years. They are great company and a great addition to any family. I am retired. My time would be totally devoted to spending time with your pet(s). I look forward to giving you the comfort that your pets are well-cared for while you are not home. My pets at home are pretty spoiled. They are not crated and we play inside and outside. Whatever the owners require is what I will do. Unfortunately, my most recent dog died of cancer. I miss her; but look forward to taking good care of other people’s pets.

About: I’ve been taking care of over 5+ dogs, 5+ cats, fish, hamsters, etc for basically my entire life so far. I love all types of animals. I have experience with dogs from a few months old to 15-17, I also have experiences with cats from a few weeks old to 15-17. I’d love to help any person/family who needs a hand sometimes! (i also have experience with geckos/lizards if that helps!) I’m currently working part time and this fall I will be taking classes part time online, so I have plenty of time for taking care of your pets. I would prefer going to others homes due to the fact I already have 3 cats, 2 dogs, gecko, fish, etc at my own home. I plan to take care of the owners pet and house with upmost respect.

About: Let’s be real: your dog deserves a break that’s actually fun! I’m here to make sure they get exactly that. I work at a veterinary hospital so I’m the person who naturally notices the "little things," but when I’m walking your pup, it’s all about the good stuff—fresh air, tail wags, and a serious amount of attention!!! I’ll keep you in the loop with plenty of cute photo updates so you don’t feel like you’re missing out. This isn't just a job for me; I converse, love and care for each dog or cat as my own. I work night shift at a veterinary hospital which gives me a flexible schedule for morning, afternoon and evening feeds, walks and weekend adventures! Whether your pup needs a quick potty break or a stroll to burn off energy, I’m here to make sure they get exactly what they need while you’re busy. Getting out with your dog is the best part of my day! Since I work in a veterinary environment, safety is second nature to me. I’m the person who double-checks the leash, keeps a sharp eye on surroundings, and makes sure the water bowl is always fresh. I treat your home with respect and your pet like they’re my own. Expect plenty of cute photo updates so you can see exactly how much fun we're having!

About: I've taken care of many dogs for families while they are away on vacation. I have a puppy of my own and I know what it is like just wanting to know that they are being taken care of and that they're in good hands while you were away. you can trust that I will take care of your pet and treat them as my own! i'm a special education teacher during the school year, so I will be off this summer. This is the first time I’ve booked with Alicia and she was so friendly and great with my dog! She even went out of her way to help me with a key swap. She came by for a meet and greet before our trip and always spent a minimum of 30 minutes walking my dog and/or taking him to the dog park for some play time.

I cannot say enough about Julain! We’ve been working with him for almost 4 months and he is thoughtful, punctual, and goes beyond just a daily walk for our Clarke. Julain’s experience working with puppies and dogs is proven. He has so much knowledge to share, answers any questions we have, gives recommendations and aligns to the obedience approach we take with our pup. Clarke is always so excited to see him on his walks. Julain has a true passion for animals and it shows. His reports to us are detailed and he will even go above and beyond his role with extras like bringing in packages from the front porch. I always trust Clarke is in good hands when Julain is around. Thanks Julain!!

About: I have owned, trained and cared for dogs, cats and horses over the last 17 years. I also work with a dog rescue organization in the area and have fostered over 40 dogs in the last 3 years. As an avid animal lover I understand the significant impact that owning animals has on our ability to travel and relax when away. I want to provide people the opportunity to travel care-free while their dogs enjoy the best care being boarded in my home. I have a very dog-friendly house with a fully secure fenced in yard. I work from home so dogs receive attention all day and night and get lots of playtime. Dogs boarded here will get free roam of the house but can also have and use a crate at the owner’s request. I am able to feed special diets and give medication as needed. If your dog stays here they will be welcomed into my house as if they were one of my own. Dogs that come here should be friendly with both male and female dogs. There are no cats in the home. I am also available for lunch time, evening and weekend dog walking. I work from home and am here almost all of the time for boarding in my home. I am also available to provide dog walks during the week in the evenings, sometimes over lunch and on the weekends. Dogs cared for in my home will be treated as if they were my own. They are able to roam about the house and use the full fenced yard. Dogs are allowed on my bed and on the couches in the home, in addition to the many dog beds throughout. Owners can expect frequent photos and updates on their pup! Kat, as always, was fantastic. During this heatwave she walked Larry for a little while, then took a break for him to cool down in ac in her car. Then back out on the walk. All this after driving him to a trail so he wouldn't get bored after a few days of walks in just the neighborhood. She's been one of Larry's favorite people for years!

  • 90% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
