“She did such an awesome job with our dogs and house while my little family was away! Very quick to respond and sent regular updates! My dogs can be a handful to new people but she loved them like her own :) the house also looks just like we left it! 10/10 will be booking with Hailey again !”

“I have a very challenging extra large dog with fear aggression. Ariana was a natural with her and absolutely wonderful! She took excellent care of my beastly pup and home. I will definitely be hiring her again to dog/housesit.”

“RaeAnna was so great! It was extremely helpful that she was available last minute, and then took such great care of my pup. She was timely, responsive, and sent very sweet updates.”

“Mary was a wonderful house sitter. We came home to happy pets and a clean house. She did a great job communicating throughout her stay and sent pictures and updates regularly. We will definitely book Mary again!”

“She kept us informed on how the dogs and cat was doing with texts and pictures. Our older dog ended up getting kennel cough right before we left. She gave her the pills and kept us updated on Thistle's progress. We got back and Thistle was back to her usual self. Our house was cleaned and could find nothing wrong with the place!!! I will book f a. again when we go out of town!”

“Kira watch our dogs for a second time and she was just as fantastic as the first. Good communication and very attentive. Without prompting she opened the auto door so that the hens could get in their coop at night and shut it once they were in. She is a very responsible adult and I am completely comfortable leaving my animals in her capable hands.”

“Jaime took excellent care of our entire animal family. She kept me informed of how everyone was doing and sent pictures so I knew that everyone was doing well. She had a lot of animals on her hands with my four dogs, three chickens and two tortoises. It was clear that everyone was well taken care of when we got home, the dogs acted like we'd just been gone for the day as opposed to over a week!”
“I can’t give Erica enough stars, she is absolutely amazing. During my recent trip, Erica stayed at my place and took care of my pet for ~ 2 weeks. She was quick to gain the trust of my anti-social cat, she communicated with me nearly daily, and my cat was happy and well cared for while I was gone. Erica also was an excellent house guest and left the place in great/tidy condition (probably better than I had left it). Thanks again Erica for taking such great care of Toed!”

About: I have been caring for pets for my entire life. Knowing that your baby is as important to you as mine is to me, I will care for your furry friend as I would hope someone would care for my own baby. I’m looking to build my care community and availability so I will be able to help when needed. Currently Saturday and Sunday are fully available. Monday-Friday is mostly open with a few instances where I don’t have flexibility. I will care for your fluffy friends either at your home if that is your preference, or I can offer short term stays at my home. My preference is to keep animals where they are most comfortable.
“Kate was friendly, easy going. We have always used close family friends & neighbors & were a bit nervous about trying an online service. Kate was wonderful! I felt like i left dog & home in safe hands. Returned home to a happy dog! Thanks Kate & Rover”

“Maleah was awesome with our girl Isla. She took great care of her while we were out of town and made sure she was well exercised and socialized. Thank you to Maleah we will absolutely be booking again with her!”

“Jazmine did great with my two dogs! I was in an area with spotty cell service all week and felt very comforted knowing Jazmine was caring for my dogs! She even had little report cards for them when I returned. It was so sweet!”

About: I moved to AK summer of 2017 from Florida, I grew up on a farm so always had a love for animals. That summer I heard of an elderly woman needing someone to care for her pets while she went to a Drs appointment in the lower 48, so I volunteered my time for 5 days. When she returned I got a message from her overjoyed of how healthy and happy her pets were and how spotless her home was, she was relieved and was able to settle in without worry, The following week the calls began, word of mouth spreading like wild fire I became a guy in demand with 100% of my clients returning. I have experience with all sorts of pets (Cats and dogs) ranging from bit older to a few months, I have clients with medical conditions needing daily medication some with dietary needs. I have clients who have separation anxiety and some who don’t like other men or even children or other pets. I have clients who have ran away from every other pet sitter the owners have left them with and yet they stay glued to me like white on rice. Im a 24/7 pet care provider so will be available all day and wouldn’t leave for 8hrs a day I’d be with your pet all day, Im able to form a bond with animals easily I can read and understand the mannerisms of animals easily and able to help them adjust and become comfortable and at ease. I don’t just open the door and say ok go potty or go outside for a bit, I take them on adventures and yes even the older ones get to go on a small adventure making them feel like a puppy again! Your pet won’t need for anything under my care may it be dog walking or even pet day care or sitting for weeks or months at a time while ( and yes I board cats) or even some simple training or even a good ole grooming! My expertise is well versed when it comes to pets care/needs. Soo treat your pet to that vacation like experience don’t settle for less. Anything pet related, this has become my profession this is what I live for and I love and I’m blessed to say this is my full time job, I can sit up to 5 pups at a time without issues they will all get the best care and individual lovings they need,I’ve been doing this a long time and am more then capable of making sure every pet is living there best lives! My home is not only pet friendly it is a home, many of my clients owners see my house and ask are you sure? your home is nice. Well do you want your pet living like a king/queen or locked up in a cage while you go on vacation or what not! Love going on adventure! They will be able to take in the fresh Alaska air and feel free and not locked up.
“Sharika was amazing with Yuna. She is super kind, friendly and sweet. It didn’t take long for Yuna to warm up to her and want all her attention for the night. Before meeting Yuna Sharika asked several questions about Yuna to make sure she knew everything she needed to know about her. This really reassured me and made me feel very comfortable leaving her with Sharika. She kept open communication with me the whole night so I didn’t ever feel worried about Yuna. I will definitely be rebooking Sharika in the future P.s. Sharika even walked Yuna in the morning while she waited for me to come back and I didn’t even ask her too. She is a lovely girl and I highly recommend her ❤️❤️”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fishhook walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fishhook maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fishhook choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
