“Danise was wonderful with our dog Dozer! He has quite a bit of anxiety, so it is hard to have him boarded when we go out of town! We wanted to do a last minute trip out of town for the night, and Danise was happy to help out! She came to our home to see Dozer, sent us updates and pictures, and worked well with his particular needs! We (and Dozer) would love to have Danise come back anytime!”

“Erika did such a great job with our dog. It was our first time using Rover and Erika provided us updates with each visit along with pictures. Erika was so kind and our dog was very well cared for and safe. We couldn't ask for a better experience! We cant wait to use her again!”

“Having Gabriella as a sitter was great! She was very communicative and cooperative during my booking. She followed instructions well. I would definitely book her again.”

“Leila was a lifesaver being able to care for our dog on short notice. Did a wonderful job giving me peace of mind while we were away. I wouldn't hesitate to ask for her assistance again.”

“Kathleen was awesome and communicated with me. I couldn't have asked for a better person I didn't have to worry about anything and during our daughter's wedding it was such a relief Highly recommend”

About: I have always loved pets. Throughout my entire life, I have had both cats and dogs, and recently my family adopted a gecko from my stepsister. Pets have always been the center of my day, and I always look forward to seeing my little fur-babies, and taking care of them. With this I have been referred to many family friends to extend the love and care I have for my babies onto their babies. I will always take care of your fur-babies as I would my own. I also am very good at giving pets medicine, as I have done it for a few years now. I am a full time college student at UNI, and I love taking care of animals. Being away at college has made me miss my own animals, so I fill that gap by getting to take care and love other animals, and give other families peace of mind while away. I am super open to any environments, whether it be a fenced in yard, or a yard where I will need to leash the pups/kitties up to take them out. I will listen and obey any instructions the client may give, whether it be for respecting the pets, or respecting the house.

About: I’ve taken care of all kinds of animals for my entire life. As a kid, my family bred and raised Shih Tzus. I have experience with all ages! I am currently working part time/as needed while attending college part time. I have a flexible schedule and commute from Charles City to Waterloo most every day. I have a private, fenced in backyard. My wiener dog, Tootsie, enjoys roaming our 3-bedroom house, sunbathing on the couches, and snuggling in bed.
“Lindsay did great with our doggy while we were away on vacation, keeping us updated on how she was doing and acting and taking photos of her during the in home visits. The photos appeared that she was well taken care of and I appreciated Lindsay’s communication. It’s clear that she cares a lot for animals. Would recommend and use her again!”

About: I love dogs and have had dogs my whole life. I have been trusted by friends, family, and coworkers to take care of their dogs whether that be walking, bathing, or just simply staying with them! I’m currently working part-time, so I have plenty of time to take care of your pets. I only work four days a week starting at 5 pm! I can crate your dog if needed or I can provide loves of snuggles if they don’t use one! I don’t have any other dogs in my home so they wouldn’t have issues with any other animals.
About: I love to walk with dogs. My dog Buddy and I have walked and ran countless miles around Cedar Falls for the past 9 years. I believe that every dog can benefit from exploring the environment outdoors, and regular exercise is very important, so I would love to make that happen for them. My schedule is very flexible so we can meet at a time that is convenient for you. My dog enjoys longer walks during the later morning time and/or at night with a playtime scheduled in between. Just message me and I will get back to you soon! My senior dog has lots of energy because we have exercised quite often together throughout the years. When we are not walking or running, we enjoy spending time on our balcony, watching tv together, and playing with toys. Buddy loves to run and play with giant bouncy balls. I would love to spend time with your pet and/or take them for a walk.
About: I've lived with cats and worked with dogs my whole life. From bathing my grandma's dog to walking pit bulls at the shelter, animals have always been a part of my life. Over the summer I'm looking for work wherever I can take it but mostly open. In the school year I am usually never gone more than 3 hours. I live in a pet friendly basement apartment with air conditioning. There is space for a kennel and other supplies if needed. It's not gigantic is very clean and the complex has a bark park.
About: I provide reliable, attentive care with plenty of exercise, enrichment, and photo updates so you always know how your pet is doing. Whether your pup prefers a long adventure walk, a leisurely sniff-filled stroll, or extra playtime and attention, I’ll tailor each visit to their needs. I’m committed to being on time, communicating clearly, and treating every dog like one of my own. Fridays are my primary availability, with flexible scheduling on many weekends. Whether your dog needs a walk, a potty break, or some extra attention during the day, I’m committed to being on time, communicating clearly, and providing reliable care. About: Hi! I’m Patricia, and caring for animals has been a huge part of my life for over 20 years. I’ve spent years volunteering with animal rescue organizations, fostering animals in need, and caring for pets with a wide range of personalities, ages, and needs. Those experiences have taught me patience, consistency, and how to help animals feel safe and comfortable—even in new environments. When your pet is with me, they’re treated like family. Whether they love long walks, playtime, belly rubs, or simply relaxing with a familiar routine, I’ll make sure they receive personalized care and plenty of attention. I also know that trusting someone with your pet can be stressful. That’s why communication is one of my top priorities. I’ll keep you updated with photos, videos, and messages throughout each visit so you can relax knowing your furry family member is happy, safe, and well cared for. You can count on me to be dependable, attentive, and respectful of your pet’s unique needs and your home’s routines. My goal is simple: to provide the same level of care and love that I’d want for my own pets. I look forward to meeting you and your four-legged family member! During the week, I work full-time, but spending time with animals is one of my favorite ways to unwind! Whether it’s a walk, a drop-in visit, or some quality cuddle time, caring for pets is something I genuinely look forward to after work and on weekends. It doesn’t feel like a job—it feels like the best part of my day. My schedule allows me to provide dependable care while giving your pets the attention, love, and updates they deserve. When caring for pets in your home, my goal is to keep their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I’ll follow your care instructions closely, whether that’s feeding schedules, medications, walks, litter box maintenance, playtime, or simply giving your pet the companionship they need while you’re away. I treat every home with the same respect I’d want someone to show mine—keeping things clean, locking up securely, and making sure your pet is safe, happy, and comfortable. You’ll also receive regular updates with photos and messages, so you always know how your furry family member is doing. My goal is for you to enjoy your time away with complete peace of mind, knowing your pet is receiving loving, dependable care.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
