About: I’ve loved and cared for all kinds of animals throughout my life. With dogs specifically, I have experience with puppies, adults, seniors, anxious pets, and multi-pet households. I’ve also administered medications and supported senior pets through end-of-life care. Before changing majors, I studied pre-veterinary medicine, and I have volunteered with several animal rescues. During drop-ins and overnight stays, I’m mindful of doors, gates, and other potential escape points. I’ll treat your home with respect and will never bring another person into it without your permission. You’ll receive as many updates, photos, and videos as you’d like, so you always know what your pet is doing and how they are feeling. If I notice any concerning changes in their health or behavior, I’ll contact you promptly.

About: Hi, I'm Val! I'm a lifelong animal lover with decades of experience caring for pets of all shapes and sizes (we were definitely a pet-crazy family!). My sister is a former vet tech (I have learned so much from her and she is still my #1 resource when I have to "triage" anything non-emergent), and I grew up surrounded by animals, so pet care has always felt like second nature to me. I’ve cared for senior pets, administered medications, supported animals with special needs, even raised premature puppies! I’m very attuned to the unique rhythms and cues of each animal I meet. About: I've spent time with dogs and cats ever since I can remember.. walking my grandma's dogs and her neighbors dogs, learning to watch for signs of fear, aggression and anxiety, were just a few of the things I always found interesting and important. I've had cats for many years, usually adopting the ones my mom and I had been volunteering with. When I was a senior in high school, I even won an achievement for my vet academy class, where I learned to do a full body exam on dogs, check their body condition score, bathe them, clip their nails and gain a broad understanding of different zoonotic diseases that could be passed both canine to canine and canine to human. Before that, I volunteered almost every Sunday for two years at an animal rescue for dogs, including puppies and older dogs, some with abusive histories and PTSD. I am available on weekends, for as long as needed, as early and as late as requested. I am available for walks, feeding, bathing and over nights as well. In my client's homes, I care for their pets though constant observation and awareness. I will always make sure their pet(s) have enough food and water, clean bowls and cannot escape from their allowed radius. Most anything else I am happy to service as asked.

My husband and I live with our 4 dogs in La Plata, Maryland. We have a large fenced in yard and plenty of space to play in. We have 2 doves in a birdcage at home but they will not interfere with the dogs. We are unable to host cats in our home due to an allergy but I am available to petsit for cats in your home. My husband watches our animals while I am away housesitting, they would not come with me to any of my bookings. I work about 15 hours out of the home each week but other than that I am always home. I have 4 dogs of my own, 3 birds, and 2 hedgehogs so taking care of animals is something I enjoy doing. I recently adopted 2 hedgehogs and I hope to keep growing my animal family in the future. I don't have kids and my husband also assists with animal care when needed (the dogs are my kids let's be honest). When I am boarding dogs at my home, they are one of my family and do the same things my dogs are doing. I take everyone outside frequently and I am always throwing a ball or playing tug of war with someone. If I'm napping, the dogs are on the bed with me napping too. Usually everyone is pretty happy to be lounging on the couch or following me around the house while I do my chores. I have a large fenced in yard that I prefer to use to exercise dogs and take them to potty. I am happy to walk dogs around the neighborhood if they need the extra exercise but I do require that the dog has a well fitting harness. Some dogs are master escape artists from their collars/harnesses (little houdinis), so if this is the case for your dog we will be playing inside my fenced in yard instead. My fence is about 6 feet tall so if your dog is capable of jumping higher than this please let me know when booking.

About: I have been around dogs since I was born. Personally, I was raised around dogs. I’ve been responsible for caring for my own pets as well as pet sitting for neighbors, family and friends since I was around 13. Now grown with my own pup, I know how important it is to trust someone with your fur baby while you aren’t able. I would love to be that reliable person for you. I currently work from home Monday and Friday, so your pet would get just as much attention as mine. We are home most weekends, where your pup will get 2 walks and play time. I have a fenced yard and one playful, yet shy at first pup. Once she warms up, it’s constant playtime and an endless amount of toys and treats to share. When we leave the house, our dog is left uncrated but we have a crate if needed.
