About: I was a veterinary assistant for 6 years and I have lots of experience caring for dogs as well as cats. I have done pet sitting, dog walking, grooming . . . I am now a stay-at-home mom with two kids we live on a farm so we wake up early and go to bed late. That leaves us with lots of time to care for our animals. We love them and we give them the best care possible! I do have a fenced yard that is 2 acres so dogs have plenty of room to run but since I have cattle panel fencing, small dogs would be able to get through. Therefore I watch them closer and have runs outside also, we are not near any highways and live on a private road.

About: What sets me apart is that I’m patient, reliable, and focused on making pets feel comfortable and cared for. I pay close attention to each pet’s routine and personality so they feel safe while their owner is away. I’m also comfortable caring for puppies who need extra attention and consistency, as well as senior pets who may need a calmer environment, medication reminders, or extra care. I am going to school to be a dental hygienist. Looking for a side job instead of something full time so I can focus more on school while still making money. I will be home a lot and I love having the company I care for pets by keeping them safe, comfortable, and on their normal routine. Whether in my home or a client’s home, I provide water, exercise, playtime, potty breaks, and lots of attention. I also follow any special instructions carefully and make sure pets feel loved and stress free while their owners are away.

About: Trustworthy and dependable, I have taken care of a wide variety of animals animals over the years, including dogs, outdoor cats, ragdoll cat, birds, chickens, horses, and calves. I understand every animal has its own unique needs and deserves compassionate care. Whether it's walks, feeding, playtime, drop in visits, overnight stays, or giving medication, I will provide reliable care. I have a flexible schedule I can work around for pets staying here, sleeping on the floor or outside. I will be gone during the day some days of the week, if they are ok left alone. I work at a greenhouse 3 days a week and could take puppies under a year with me to work. And also most dogs if theyre used to be out and about. I would accept puppies under a year not fixed. I have 2 ziplines in my yard and your pets are more than welcome to stay here if they would be OK with those accommodations. I can pick up and drop off typically would suit best in the evenings. I would also stay in your home so they could stay in familiar territory, but i have a greenhouse job and will be gone a good part of the day. And also work prn at an assisted living but il try to wait till 2 weeks till to pick up shifts. Cuz thats my requirement for bookings. I also have a 1 year old Aussie Mountain Doodle that will be coming with me. He loves meeting new friends. If youre worried about him getting along we can do a meet and greet. For clients within 30 miles of Gallatin, I will send you a 15% discount for less mileage. I look forward to meeting you and your pets. My profile shows Kingston, it's because I work in Kearney and am around there a lot. So dropping by between Jamesport and Kearney will be easy. I had to move my town to get the area I wanted. I have a flexible schedule and can work around it to help care for your pets, for drop in visits, walks, feeding, playtime or stays. I will care for your pets and home as if it were my own. I have stayed in multiple air bnbs and have a high rating as a traveler.

For pets who aren't well with other pets, I will make sure to reserve those days for ONLY that pet. Every animal deserves to be comfortable. I only accept pets that are friendly and comfortable around other dogs during bookings that require more than one pet. About: I have a lot of hands on experience with a variety of breeds and temperaments from my family and various jobs. Every dog is different and deserves to be treated as so with a great amount of patience and care. I have had hands of experience with ptsd/reactivity even though every situation is different and learning more every day. I’ve had a lot of time spent with senior animals who require more patience and attention in their day to day care. I do work a full time job but have a flexible schedule for mornings, evenings, and nights. I can have a very structured schedule so fitting any form of pet care will be a quick and easy adjustment. I follow any instructions or tips regarding your pet. Not only does it keep your fur baby safe, but gives safety for me as well. Leaving your pet is not easy, so it is extremely important for me to do to my absolute best to adjust to your already set routine you have in place.

About: I currently have 1 Golden Doodle myself, 9yo Todd, who is very sweet and loves to play! We are open to house sitting with other nice playful pets, as well as drop ins and walks! I worked at a vet boarding facility when younger and have had dogs all my life. I trained my current dog as well as multiple dogs of friends in the past (mostly large breed, Husky, Lab, Rottweiler & Great Pyrenees) and would love to assist with any training for puppies if needed! I’m used to high energy dogs in life, but welcome the old man energy as Todd is now 9, we don’t mind lounging around as well. Todd is not aggressive in any way and perfectly house trained. I would expect similar attitude from any dogs or pups we are joining. I have house trained many puppies and Even a grown dog and am willing to assist, but would expect additional compensation. I truly love all dogs and am thrilled to get to know more pups. Todd & I can’t wait to meet you! My dog care starts as a little girl, being gifted her dream chocolate lab puppy in 3rd grade and being a part of training and care from then on. A Golden Doodle pup joined the family 8th grade and was trained in the home. I worked at our dogs vet and boarding facility in high school. Trained a friends husky pup in 2012. As well as his mom’s lab pup in 2012. My golden doodle Todd joined my home in 2017 at 8 weeks. I trained him and have had him as my shadow ever since! I trained a friends Rottweiler pup in 2018. And then just recently rescued a Great Pyrenees pup into our home, August 2024. We trained her alongside Todd, at 6mo, indoors for the 1st time and some trauma - she is absolutely thriving today! Entrepreneur and make my own schedule. I have 1 dog at home that I let out morning, afternoon and night and walk 3 times a day minimum. Could easily add care for another animal daily. Have had 2+ dogs in the home many times with roommates and past partners and can easily take care of multiple pets at a time. If in your home I will follow your instructions to a T. Whatever rules apply to your dogs, will apply when I am there as well! If in our home, the rules are fairy lax and the dogs get to enjoy being dogs often. We can use crates if needed, but my dogs have ability to move about the home.

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up caring for dogs, cats, horses, goats, chickens, and turkeys, which gave me hands-on experience with animals of all kinds from a young age. Over the years, I’ve cared for dogs for family, friends, and neighbors, gaining experience with everything from puppy potty and crate training to feeding, walking, bathing, administering basic care, and providing lots of love and attention. I’m comfortable with pets of all sizes, personalities, and energy levels, and I treat every pet like they’re part of my own family. I'm currently working part time, so I have plenty of time within my days to love and care for your fur babies while your're unable to! FAQs for House Sitting - Elmira

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Elmira on Rover is $43.85 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 198 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Elmira. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Elmira walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Elmira maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Elmira choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Elmira. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
