“Liz was truly fantastic. This was our first night out without our puppy and she fully put our minds at ease and was super patient with our detailed instructions for our mouthy girl. Excited to have her sit again.”

“Incredible! Communicative through the entire stay and my apartment is cleaner than i left it which is so Incredibly nice of her! I'm so pleased, and though this was a one-off/unlikely to need a dog sitter again type of vacation, I would without a doubt use Rose again if needed.”

“I would be so happy to have Elishamaria watch Chalupa again. She arrived on time, communicated well, was super professional, and our puppy was very happy under her care. She watched our dog at the hotel where we’re having our wedding celebration.”

“Simon made our two dogs feel seen and loved. He went above and beyond with them. They took long walks together and spent quality time playing indoors too. I’m grateful to Simon for all he did. Highly recommend him.”

“Jane was wonderful! Our dogs (one geriatric, one a little moody) are not the easiest brothers to care for and she provided a caring and secure experience for them. We are so grateful and would book with her again!”

“Rochelle is a wonderful sitter and I'm so grateful to have found her to watch my dog Gogo. I've hired Rochelle for both short and long-term stays and she is my most entrusted sitter. Dedicated, responsible, caring, and experienced.”

“Sophia was so great with Scout! Scout had some extraordinary needs with her back legs being very weak - Sophia made she was comfortable in our home and we came back from our trip to a very happy dog. She very much understands what a dogs needs.”

“Sofia was wonderful! She was always responsive, and took such wonderful care of the dogs. They loved her and were in great hands. She left the house in great shape and was a super respectful guest. Would highly recommend using Sofia!”

“Ronnie went above and beyond to take care of Chaga, and was super accommodating to a few SNAFUs on our part along the way. Chaga is an anxious guy but seemed to warm up to him pretty swiftly.”
“Amy was so patient with our dogs - one of whom was on medication, and the other is very nervous. She was patient and communicative. I really appreciated her approach to our difficult dogs!”

About: I grew up with all different types of animals my whole life. I have been a dog mom for 13 years. I am great at walking dogs who have aggression towards other dogs, I know how to find a calm route to take and distract them before conflict arises! I recently lost my 90 lb alapaha blue blood bulldog mix to a terminal illness and am looking forward to spending time with other people's dogs. I am a self employed artist, volunteer, and executive director of a free store that I physically staff on Saturdays, so I have a very flexible schedule. I will care for pets in your home with so much attentiveness and love! Just give me a set of instructions and I am happy to hang out :)

“We booked Taylor at the last minute when another dog sitter had an emergency—and she is a rock star! She understands animals and works hard to make sure she is accommodating their needs. So glad we found her!!”

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is my lifelong experience caring for animals of all kinds, not just dogs and cats. I currently care for my own dogs and I’ve spent years around animals with different personalities, needs, and temperaments. I’m comfortable with puppies who need patience and consistency, as well as senior pets who require a gentler pace, medication, or extra attention. I believe every pet deserves individualized care, so I take the time to learn their routine and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you are away. You’ll also receive regular photo and text updates, so you can relax knowing your pet is in caring, dependable hands. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I already care for a variety of my own animals, including my own dogs, horses, goats, and chickens. I work full-time Monday through Saturday, with Wednesdays off. I have a one-hour lunch break that allows me to stop in for potty breaks, walks, feedings, or check-ins during the day. Before and after work, I have plenty of time to provide attentive care, exercise, and companionship. Whether your pet needs a quick visit, overnight care, or a little extra attention while you’re away, I’m committed to treating them like my own. At this time, I provide care exclusively in my client’s homes, where pets are often the most comfortable in their familiar environment. I follow each owner’s care instructions closely, including feeding schedules, fresh water, walks, potty breaks, playtime, medications (if needed), and plenty of love and attention. I also make sure your home is left just as I found it and will gladly provide photo and text updates so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. As a lifelong animal owner with experience caring for dogs, horses, goats, chickens, and other animals, I understand that every pet has unique needs and personalities. My goal is to keep their routine as normal and stress free as possible while you’re away, treating them with the same care and attention I give my own animals.
About: Hi, I'm Marceline! Growing up with a wildlife rehabilitator for a parent, I was surrounded by animals from day one. From bottle-feeding baby raccoons to gently caring for injured birds, I learned early on the patience, empathy, and responsibility that animals deserve. That lifelong passion turned into a career of caring: I spent 4 years at a cat shelter, helping to socialize, medicate and find loving homes for many cats. Beyond that, I've volunteered extensively at Farm sanctuaries and animal shelters, gaining hands-on experience with dogs, cats, pigs, chickens, and more! Whether your pet is playful and energetic or shy and sensitive, I'm dedicated to providing calm, attentive, loving care that meets their unique needs. I know how important it is to trust someone with your animal family. You can count on me to treat your pets like my own - with respect, reliability and plenty of love. Let's connect - I'd love to meet you and your pets! Because I have an open schedule, I'm able to dedicate focused time throughout the day for walks, feedings, play, medication and whatever unique care each pet needs. I plan my day around their routines, not the other way around - whether that means early morning visits, midday potty breaks, evening cuddle time, or sleepovers. I'm used to structuring my day with animals in mind, especially my own cats and hermit crabs. Being attentive to animals' behaviors and needs is second nature to me, and I always make sure they get plenty of love, attention, and consistency throughout the day. When you leave your pet in my care, you're not just hiring someone to feed or walk them - you're trusting me with a member of your family. I take that responsibility seriously. Creating a safe, calm, and loving environment is at the heart of everything I do. I closely follow your pet's routines, dietary needs, and any medical requirements to make sure they stay happy and healthy. Im experienced in handling a wide range or animals - including those with special needs, and I always keep a close eye on behaviot and well-being When I visit your home for your pet, I strive to create a low-stress environment where they feel safe, relaxed, and loved. From cozy resting spots to familiar routines and gentle handling, I make sure your pet feels right at home with me.
“Bryson always takes great care of our crazy pups and our house. He is able to manage the super high energy and the grumpy old man energy our dogs have, which is not an easy task!”

About: Now that I have graduated college and I am living back home! I have a lot of time to do one of my favorite things which is to care for animals! I have experience rescuing dogs and giving them loving homes. In the past I have trained with a dog trainer to get a better sense on how to better work with dogs. I am an early bird, I usually start my days at 5:30! I make sure to get some exercise and take a morning walks. I have a very strong ritual of waking up early and being active. I usually take the afternoons to read and prepare my applications for JD/PHD programs. In between these two things in my schedule, I have a lot of free time that I would love to spend with your pets! I also do not mind traveling to different boroughs if needed!! In my own home, I have a very large living room space, which gives pets spaces to stretch, lay out, play and or explore. In clients home I always make sure to know what boundaries/ areas are off limits for the pets and respect that.
About: I will keep you updated throughout the day letting you know how your pet is doing. If you'd like, I can even send you pictures showing how happy your pet is. I freelance in film production which allows me to be flexible with days and time. I have a wired sleeping schedule too which will allow me to go whenever to watch your pet. I make sure my roommates dog is always walked, fed, loved, played with, and above all, has water. I have a natural caring gift for all animals.
“Vanessa was by far the best sitter we’ve had in nearly ten years. She went above and beyond. She took pebbles on hikes and swims and dog parks, kept her super clean and managed her food and meds very well. We returned in over a week to find pebbles thriving. We would call on Vanessa in a heart beat going forward whenever we need someone to care for our pup.”

FAQs for House Sitting - Elka Park
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 268 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Elka Park. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Elka Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Elka Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Elka Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Elka Park. On Rover:

- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
