“Rose was amazing! She went above and beyond our expectations! Thankfully, she was available (fairly) short notice and worked with us every step of the way! She sent us pictures of Bolo everyday (to reassure my girlfriend) and kept bolo (who can have really bad separation anxiety) from freaking out. She also finished drying/folding our laundry for us! We really appreciate everything she did, and would 100000000% re-hire her/recommend her for whoever is looking for a dogsitter, walker or anything in between.”
“Jared looked after my dog Felix in my house for 2 nights. He took great care of everything and made sure I felt at ease. I found a happy and relaxed pup upon my return; Felix looked like he had a good time with Jared. I'm glad I found him and will hopefully get a chance to hire him again in the future.”

“Elizabeth was incredible, and we feel so lucky to have found her. This was not the easiest sit—our senior dog and younger cat require careful management and don’t always get along—but Elizabeth handled everything with so much patience, attentiveness, and care. It gave us real peace of mind knowing she was so capable and calm in navigating their dynamics. She kept us updated with the sweetest photos and little notes throughout our trip, which made being away so much easier (and honestly, we looked forward to her updates every day). Communication was always quick, clear, and thoughtful—she was super responsive and proactive if anything came up. On top of that, she treated our home with total respect and left everything in great shape. You can tell she genuinely cares—not just about doing a good job, but about the animals themselves. We would 100% have Elizabeth back and recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for a reliable, kind, and truly exceptional sitter.”

“Elisha was great. She wasn't intimidated by Arlo's epilepsy which was a huge relief to me. She seemed immediately at ease with the boys and they with her. When I got home my dogs were calm, happy and not anxious so I could tell that they were indeed comfortable with her. I will definitely book with Elisha again.”

About: Now that I have graduated college and I am living back home! I have a lot of time to do one of my favorite things which is to care for animals! I have experience rescuing dogs and giving them loving homes. In the past I have trained with a dog trainer to get a better sense on how to better work with dogs. I am an early bird, I usually start my days at 5:30! I make sure to get some exercise and take a morning walks. I have a very strong ritual of waking up early and being active. I usually take the afternoons to read and prepare my applications for JD/PHD programs. In between these two things in my schedule, I have a lot of free time that I would love to spend with your pets! I also do not mind traveling to different boroughs if needed!! In my own home, I have a very large living room space, which gives pets spaces to stretch, lay out, play and or explore. In clients home I always make sure to know what boundaries/ areas are off limits for the pets and respect that.
“Lianne was great! She was polite & friendly - Handled all of my unorganized rambling and probably unnecessarily detailed instructions during our meet & greet without issue and asked follow up questions and clarifications that gave me confidence on this last minute booking. I can tell my dogs were well cared for and everything was in impeccable order when I came home. I will definitely book her again when the need arises!”

“Jane was wonderful! Our dogs (one geriatric, one a little moody) are not the easiest brothers to care for and she provided a caring and secure experience for them. We are so grateful and would book with her again!”

“Arsen and Sophia did a great job. They communicated well, sent funny pics and we returned to a calm dog who clearly liked them and was sad to see them leave. House was clean. Would hire them again anytime.”

About: I grew up with all different types of animals my whole life. I have been a dog mom for 13 years. I am great at walking dogs who have aggression towards other dogs, I know how to find a calm route to take and distract them before conflict arises! I recently lost my 90 lb alapaha blue blood bulldog mix to a terminal illness and am looking forward to spending time with other people's dogs. I am a self employed artist, volunteer, and executive director of a free store that I physically staff on Saturdays, so I have a very flexible schedule. I will care for pets in your home with so much attentiveness and love! Just give me a set of instructions and I am happy to hang out :)
“Amy was an absolute lifesaver. I was horrified to realize that I had to go on a trip the day after my dog's surgery and thank goodness Amy was available in the pinch. She was incredible; extremely attentive to him and very engaged in his care, communicating with me the entire time, and working with me to solve issues as they came up. Not to mention taking wonderful care of my other pets and my home as well. Thank you Thank you Thank you Amy!”

“Ronnie went above and beyond to take care of Chaga, and was super accommodating to a few SNAFUs on our part along the way. Chaga is an anxious guy but seemed to warm up to him pretty swiftly.”

“We booked Taylor at the last minute when another dog sitter had an emergency—and she is a rock star! She understands animals and works hard to make sure she is accommodating their needs. So glad we found her!!”

“Rochelle is a wonderful sitter and I'm so grateful to have found her to watch my dog Gogo. I've hired Rochelle for both short and long-term stays and she is my most entrusted sitter. Dedicated, responsible, caring, and experienced.”

“Sofia was very communicative throughout the day and kept us updated, which gave us peace of mind. Most importantly, she got along really well with our dog, and he seemed very comfortable and happy with her. We would definitely recommend her!”

About: I grew up in a cat household and became a dog mom as soon as I left home. I absolutely love all of the cats and dogs I’ve been fortunate enough to meet in this life. I raised my pup, Grumble, from 3 weeks old until she left this world at 11 years old. I am very familiar with the range of needs a dog will have throughout life, from teething to play to mobility assistance. I'm fully available in the winter as my regular job (gardening) is seasonal and won't be picking up again until later in the spring time. I can be flexible to your pets needs and more than happy to follow any directions you provide me with for their optimal care and contentment.
About: When I was 8, I wrote a poem about how badly I wanted to hang out with animals all day, added my parents' land line #, and then made a ton of copies for each mailbox in the neighborhood. I was sole proprietor of the Elizabeth's House, Dog, Cat, & Plant Sitting operation for about 10 years until I left home for undergrad. Now at 38 I've continued to offer my services to any family, friends, coworkers, etc. in need of a responsible, thoughtful, detail-oriented person for house, pet, and or plant sitting. I have experience caring for pets with a variety of care needs: senior animals, puppies & kittens, pets that need to be administered medication and/or special diets, and animals with behavioral issues. I am deeply respectful of every animal's unique personality, and take time to understand and anticipate your pet's every need. I will treat your fur babies like they're my own! I took a break from Rover for the past 2 years, but now I'm back and excited to meet some new clients <3 I work remotely from home, so my schedule is uniquely flexible to care for your home, pet, plants, either within your space or mine. I'm an early riser and prefer to remain quite active during the day, so I can provide plenty of stimulation for your pets as needed. I treat any space I stay in as if it were my home. This means you'll come back to a clean, tidy, organized house, with thriving plants and happy pets. I'm comfortable with crate training, reinforcing behavioral & obedience training as set by pet owners, and using special muzzles & harnesses for walks as needed. As an amateur horticulture enthusiast, I will also make sure to maintain awareness of the environmental needs of any plants and gardens in my care. I always share GPS location with families when I'm taking their pet on a hike or leaving the home!
About: I absolutely love taking care of and being around animals. I am kind, reliable and very loving, with years of experience with both cats & dogs. I currently work part-time very close to my home and have reliable transportation. This means I typically have plenty of time to cater to your pets daily needs. Some days I would be able to be with them all day, whereas other days I can do morning, nights, or middle-of-the-day check-ins. I typically do not care for client's pets in my own home because of my two cats. I am happy to travel to any client home to take care of their pet however that may be needed: play, walks, parks, etc.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Tannersville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Tannersville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Tannersville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Tannersville. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 89% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
