Doggy Day Care in Edgemont

About: Although we are new to the area, we are definitely not new to caring for dogs. We recently purchased the well-known dog kennel in Smithsburg and are in the process of restoring it. Parts of the kennel are already fully functional, and we’re excited to begin welcoming dogs while we continue improving the property. It’s a place many people in the community already know, and we feel lucky to be able to carry on its history. Dogs have always been a big part of my life. I grew up with them and honestly can’t remember a time when I didn’t love being around them. That same love has followed me into adulthood. Over the years I’ve naturally become the neighborhood go-to pet sitter. Friends, neighbors, and family have trusted me with their pets for years, and I always care for them the same way I care for my own dogs — with patience, attention, and lots of affection. One of the things I’m most proud of is the therapy work I did with my dog. I trained and certified her as a therapy dog, and for 10 years we volunteered together in hospitals and nursing homes. That experience actually inspired my career path, and I went on to become a certified occupational therapist. My sweet therapy dog has since passed away after a long and wonderful life. She was incredibly special to me. I’m now starting that journey again with my new puppy, Merango, and hope to continue therapy work in the future. Right now I’m taking some time away from my occupational therapy work to focus on renovating and restarting the kennel. It’s something I’ve always dreamed about doing, and I’m excited to bring new life to a place that so many people in the community already know. I also have experience caring for senior dogs and dogs with medical needs, including giving medications like insulin injections. Our property has large outdoor fenced runs that give dogs plenty of space to move around and enjoy the fresh air in a quiet farm setting. injections. I’m currently focused on renovating and restoring the kennel property, which allows me to be home most of the day and provide consistent supervision and care for the dogs staying with us. We are early risers in our home and typically start the day around 7 AM with potty breaks and breakfast. Mornings are usually spent outside enjoying the property — going on walks around our 20-acre farm or spending time in the fenced runs while I do morning chores. Around lunchtime everyone, animals included, usually settles in for a quiet rest period. I check that everyone has fresh water and food if needed before nap time. In the mid-afternoon we head back outside for more activity. Depending on the dog, this may include running in the fenced fields, exploring the property on a guided walk, or simply relaxing in the fresh air. Dinner is around 6 PM, followed by a calm evening inside. We finish the day with a final potty break and check-in before bedtime around 9 PM. My goal is to give dogs a peaceful farm stay with plenty of space to move, fresh air, and a consistent routine so they feel comfortable and relaxed while they’re away from home I understand how much trust it takes to leave your dog in someone else’s care. When I first started using Rover for my own dogs, I remember feeling nervous too. I always appreciated sitters who kept me updated, so I make a point to do the same. I’m happy to send photos and updates so you can see how your dog is doing and feel confident they’re happy and well cared for. On our property, dogs have access to spacious individual indoor/outdoor kennel runs where they can relax comfortably. We also have several large fenced areas where dogs can safely run, play, and explore. Safety is always my top priority, and dogs are supervised during outdoor time to make sure everyone stays happy and secure

About: I’ve had and taken care of dogs/cats since a young age. I love all animals and taking care of them! Currently, I am caring for my 2 cats and leopard gecko! I only work weekends so I am free all weekdays to be able to take care of your pets! I am no longer able to do house sitting because I now have a baby to take care of, but if they are good with kids and cats, your pet is more than welcome to come stay with us! I do prefer having the option to crate so if issues do arise or if I need to step out, I can do so easily.

Inside the home we also have a spacious finished basement where pets can play and relax indoors. I carefully follow feeding schedules, routines, and any special instructions you provide. I treat every pet like my own and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for during their stay.

About: Hey! I have worked with animals for over 10 years. From sitting to fostering. I currently live on 2+ acres with a fenced in area and an non fenced area for unlimited play and run time. I am a full time student that is home all day, my schedule is very flexible. I am also available around holidays as well to help out when needed. I treat all animals as if they’re my own, a part of my family. I have multiple places within my home and outside of my home to create a safe place for your pet if they need down time, play or love.

I work from home, so I am available all day to care for your pets, walk them and be there for them. They will feel right at home! I like to follow the schedule that the client has set for their pets at home so that pets can feel a sense of continuity in their new environment. I customize my care depending on each pet and their unique needs.

About: I have three of my own dogs and have cared for animals for clients for years, I genuinely enjoy fur babies! I want to give your pet the same love and care that I give my babies, furry ones and human ones! I only work outside the home two days a week, so five days of all day play and love! On those two work days they will only be alone for 5 hours :) I have three fur babies, that would love to keep your babes company! I have partially fenced yard, and tons of room to run and play. Can also crate if necessary!

About: I have experience, taking care of cats, dogs, and chickens. I am willing to take care of smaller animals, such as hamsters, birds or guinea pigs as well. During the summer, I am home most days of the week. I am a full time teacher so I am off during the summer. Therefore I am very reliable and flexible with times. I have a fenced in yard that’s big enough for dogs to get some exercise. I have an older beagle who is very docile. I have two kids who also enjoy seeing and meeting new animals.
