“She was very communicative, followed all of my instructions, and shared lots of photos and updates. She seemed genuinely caring toward my dog. I’d definitely book with her again!”

“Julia was great! We left our puppy Sonny with her one afternoon until the afternoon the next day and she kept sending us updates and pictures of him having fun. This made us feel so good knowing that she was taking the best care of him and that he was happy. We would definitely recommend and use Julia again.”

About: We are a dog-loving couple who had the pleasure of caring for our own dog for 14 years. We live in a spacious private home with a large fenced yard, and like to take nice long walks. We are also well trained in administering insulin and other medications, or feeding special diets. We both work from home most weeks and are available to care for your dog either during the day and/or overnight, while you are away. We have a large fenced yard, and ask that your dog be potty trained so that they could use it if they need to. We will also gladly send you photos while you are away and surely miss your dog.
“Tina was so awesome to work with! She watched our super high energy 2 year old lab mix (Kenzie) for daycare at her home. She sent lots of pictures and updates and made sure to ask us lots of information about our dog before we dropped her off. I appreciated how much communication she provided and all of the pictures she sent!”

“Michelle was amazing with Milo! This was our first time leaving him with someone else, so I was a little nervous, but she made the whole experience so much easier and more comfortable. She was very attentive, communicative, and clearly experienced with dogs, which gave me a lot of reassurance. I really appreciated the updates and how she made sure Milo felt safe and cared for. When I picked him up, he was happy and relaxed, which means everything to me as a dog mom. It was clear he was in good hands the entire time. The pickup and drop-off process was also smooth and convenient, which I loved. Overall, I had a great experience and would absolutely trust Michelle with Milo again!”

“Wendy and her husband took great care of my dog and sent me updates during the day. Zoe can be shy and sensitive at first with new people, but she warmed up to them so quickly! Their dog Hero is so cute and playful as well. I would recommend her, and Zoe looks forward to her next daycare there!”

About: I have been living with a dog (at one time with 3) since 2010. We recently said goodbye to our lab/retriever mix and are not quite yet ready to adopt a dog again but we miss having a dog around. As a pet parent I understand how stressful it can be finding reliable care and finding someone who will love your dog as much you do. It can also be tough when you find out you have to work late and will need someone to come to your rescue to let your baby out and feed them. When I’m not walking dogs, I’m taking care of my human children (who also love dogs) which means I have a somewhat flexible schedule, and I spend a lot of time outdoors. We have always found lots of fun outdoor bonding opportunities everywhere we have lived with our dog. We both love being outside and being active and I would love to share this hobby with your dog too! I am a full time mom to two school aged children. I have reliable blocks of availability for the most part. I am in and out during the day and my husband works from home a lot of the time as qell. We’re very big on walks, dog parks, fetch (our sweet pup was inexhaustible and could play fetch for hours), and my kids practically live in our yard so I’m outdoors a lot when I’m home. When caring for a pet in a client’s home, I follow the care instructions given by the pet parent.
“Wendy was very friendly and kind with Miso. This was my first time using Rover, so I was a little nervous, but she sent many videos, pictures, and updates throughout the visit, which really helped put me at ease. It meant a lot to see how he was doing and know he was being cared for. Thank you, Wendy, for taking the time to keep us informed and making our first experience a positive one.”

“Alissa is super nice and down to earth. We met with her for a meet and greet and my dog was comfortable with her and her home right away. She has two super sweet dogs of her own and her home is beautiful and cozy. She is quick to respond and has proven to be reliable and trustworthy. I would highly recommend her!”

About: I grew up with dogs, cats and birds, will care for your pet with same loving care I give my own, I have been boarding dogs for over 2 years after I retired from work. Me and my husband are retired, and I will provide a truly loving care for your pet, I am home and will walk, play and feed your pet. My house is not fenced but I walk the dogs on a leash early in the morning and mid-afternoon, never had any problems, bathroom breaks usually on my back yard every 2-3 hours
“Michelle is very caring. She communicated quickly with me and we set up a meet and greet. Charlie was nervous . We decided to do a daycare visit. Michelle informed me that there would be another dog there and wanted to know if I was ok with it which I was. Michelle texted me in the am to confirm drop off time. She sent updates and pictures throughout the day. She was also fine when I had to pick Charlie up later than I originally said. Charlie was fine when I went to pick him up. I plan on using Michelle again”

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your East Hills commute.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
